FM8 is a beautiful racer. There will be a new track in May I believe as well as some additional content. If you want it get it and enjoy it.

FM8 is hot garbage compared to GT7. however, the series x is a good console and you can get some value out of it through GP.

FM8 isn't a bad racing game (out of all the forzas, they nailed the controller and general feel of racing), it just brought nothing new for a single player - it felt very lazy outwith the proper day/night cycle and dynamic weather, and the campaign is so dry and boring.
I can't speak for multiplayer - I don't go near that as you get whacked all kinds of silly be amazing players and folk with wheels.
If you were to buy an XSX, it shouldn't be for FM8!

It's a terrible racer*
In single player the AI was so bad, and the "career mode" is a joke. In multiplayer the systems like match making and safety ratings are so broken it was super difficult to get a good race, especially since they upped the car count.
*Things might have improved since I last played around 8 months ago but I gave up and won't be returning. It's a real shame as I used to love these games.

Regarding single player, it's uninspired. But no more so than Forza 5, 6 and 7.
When I played 8 my overall opinion was meh. It often looked great, it sometimes looked OK. It raced fine. When I was done with the campaign, I uninstalled and that was that.

7 is leagues better than 8. It's been so long since i played 5 & 6 so can't comment on those. Glad you got some enjoyment out of it though, for me it was a very disappointing experience.

Its far better than Forza 1 or 2 for starters and also much better than 7 IMO.

FM7 wasn't good and FORZA 8 was launched in a poor state (more so for multiplayer) and the menu system and single player mode was just laid out so utterly boring.
All that said I loved the graphics and the car handling of the game and enjoyed it more than most, but for me Forza 6 is the best in the series so far.
My fav facer this gen has been Codemasters Grid: Legends. The AI is the best and has something missing from Forza 8 and GT7 and that's FUN

Being better than a twenty year old entry into the franchise is hardly an accolade.
The Handling model in 8 (on a pad) is the best in the franchise under the right set of circumstances, everything else has been done better in one way or another in various previous entries.
I can't comment on how the game is now, but the launch state was a disgrace. I stuck with it for around 8 months on and off and things were slowly improving but that not how games should be. If you insist on launching a broken unfinished mess of a game and ask people to cough up hard earned money the you deserve all the flack that rightfully comes your way.
Yes im really salty about this one in particular if it wasn't obvious.

If you want gamepass and the games Xbox has that arent on other consoles yet or like the UI, get one.
If its just for FM8, then just wait till it comes to PS5, will probably get a Pro update too

FM8 is pretty good now, but if you're looking to get into more racing games and sim stuff PC is unbeatable in that regard. Between hardware support, mods and variety nothing beats it.
Don't even need to spend big money on hardware, start off with a second had Logi G920 to see if you're into it, then move onto entry level DD and go from there. Sim hardware holds its value fairly well.

The game is almost exactly the same as it launched, except they added some tracks and cars from Forza 7 that they cut before launch and fixed a handful of bugs.

If have a PC that is not powerfull enought to run new games natively but have good enough Internet connection you can get Gamepass Ultimate for a month to check out FM8 using Cloud.
Image quality is not best.... and there is some imput lag added, but still... you can try the game without spending a lot of money.

Been a forza player since FM3 (I even had a YouTube channel where I did cinenatic firza videos, even turn10 shared them back at the time) but havent enjoyed any Forza since FH4, Im into simracing now, soend your money into a sim setup, start racing in ACC, LMU, AC, BEAMNG and you will forget simcades in no time.
Arcade and Simracing games are old news in this day n age, nothing like it used to be, the new gem is simracing.

You need good latency to play a racing game where 100th's of a second matter.
Physics cant be judged accurately if the latency sucks and the image quality on xcloud isn't the greatest in my experience.

That of course depends on the game you're giving the accolade to... I happened to think GT4 is the best in its series and still think DMC 1 is the best in its series and you will know there are people out there who hold up Zelda 64 and Mario 64 as the best games ever and the best entries in their series, despite them being over 20 years old
I happen to think the racing and handling in Forza 8 is the best in the series, love the dynamic weather and time of day and the graphics look sensational.
My issue was with the boring singleplayer layout and its terrible presentation and menu graphics
It was a massive step up over Forza 5 and 7, but Forza 6 remains my fav in the Series, but as I said I found GT 7 and Forza 8 to pale to Codemasters Grid Legends

If we are talking FM 2023 then I put in plenty enough time to know if it's good, and I've gone back to check on it twice. My original post in this thread sums up my thought, but I don't like the notion that if people don't like something that wasn't well received that they are just hate band wagoning. This definitely does exist but I think people jump to this quickly. Forza Motorsport 2023 deserves it's criticism.
Even if we ignore everything I talked about in my original post and simply looked at the wildly stupid modification progression system it wouldn't be worth most people's times.
You got your new car but feel like what you actually need is a suspension upgrade? NOPE you gotta wait until you unlock the ability, AND you better hope you've driven your car enough if you want multiple upgrades because you are going to run out of points or whatever they call it. After spending some time driving that car you want to buy another one to mod it differently? NOPE all that time you spent with your original "___" to unlock modifications is locked to THAT EXACT FUCKING CAR even though it's the exact same car.
Now maybe they have fully reversed this, but the last time I had checked in on it they had simply sped up progression. Not good enough.

I think Codemasters make the best racers of late but they get little credit.
When it comes to the best racing sims ever made I find it hard to beat F355 or Rich Burns Rally

I might've been a minority but I always loved Shift 2. The helmet cam, the sense of speed, aggressive AI, sound.. It was excellent I thought. The drifting sucked ass, I could never do it. But I liked the rest. Gameplay was hard on pad though, you had to tweak quite a bit.
I kind of miss these racers. They aren't as fully featured as GT and Forza but they're more thrilling. I didn't really feel GRID, which I think also has a similar upgrade system to FM8. Though I did remember that after some update you can convert cash to upgrade currency, I played the game about a week ago but didn't look into this.

With the current preorder success of FH5 is having I can see them releasing it on PS5 late 2025/early 2026.
So maybe spend a extra 100 and get a Pro?

Avoid all the Sony Ponies in here bro. Series X is incredible and my preferred platform. Gamepass is fantastic. The hardware itself is incredible. Do it you wont regret it. Love my Ps5 too but im very happy i own both
