Who skipped this console generation for PC?

Did you?

I didn't skip this gen because my platform of choice has been PC for more than 10 years now so I always the sony and nintendo consoles for the exclusives. I have to say though that while the exclusive games I've played this gen so far were great, this gen sucks as far as quantity as goes...at least on sony's side

Got a PC and also a Switch 2 :]

The other 2 consoles don't really have any current gen exclusives I'm interested in

Switch 2/PC+Steamdeck/PS5 for me. Everything has at least some things I'm not willing to miss out on.

Sony is the most likely to get cut next gen but depends how their pivot away from GaaS goes.

PS3 and WII were my last consoles and I sold my PS3 halfway through it's cycleand gave my Wii to my cousin. And never got a console ever again and won't be getting next gen consoles either. Got too used to PC just being a part of my life where it'll almost always be on when I'm home and along with easily having all games on Steam, for general internet uses and alt tapped along with mods and other features. Don't see myself getting a console ever again besides a possible Switch 2 but only if the next big Zelda game is amazing and done back to the style of OoT/MM or the WII U tech demo and even then that's still a maybe cause I'll need at least 2 big Zelda games for me to buy the Switch 2

I mean I have a ps5 but it ain't getting much action.

I was hedging bets for Bloodborne 2, remake/remaster.

I have a PS5, XSX a Switch and now a Switch 2.

90%+ games I play on my PC and Lenovo SteamOS handheld. A lot of GoG titles mixed in as well.

Why do I have consoles? Mostly for backwards compatibility, my son plays Fortnite and Minecraft on them, both kids play on the Switch/2 and sometimes I do want to have actual physical games.

I built my first rig on Xmas 2024. I Dumped PlayStation 5 after not having much to play. I also built a custom switch oled from a Samsung s9 11 inch tab,

I took this gen to play all the console exclusives that looked interesting. Most of them weren't worth it.

Now that I'm up to date and there is absolutely nothing of interest on the radar (and even if there was, I would expect Sony to mess it up somehow), there's absolutely no reason to stick around for the next gen. Not a single one.

Started last gen, but this is the first one without any console.

I'm surprised how often I read about physical copies here, considering that 85% of sold PS games are digital now.

I had them all this generation, but I sold my Xbox and PlayStation; I only have a PC and a Switch 2 now.

For me, the appeal of having a video game console is the exclusive games. There's no point in having a console that basically only serves to play the same games that are available on PC, but in a much inferior way, and still paying more for the games and services.

I didn't technically skip consoles this gen - I bought them all. I just didn't end up buying any games for them (other than PS4 and BC games for Xbox) for whatever reason.
All of my game purchases this gen have been on PC, as well as a few Switch/Switch2 games...

But ask me again next gen. I plan to eventually get into pc gaming.

Damn, I thought GAF was more mature than this.

The console/PC warring in here is legitimately pathetic.
Are you new here?

This is not a war thread at all, just a question if you jumped to PC instead of consoles.

The war was at a all time high around Xbox one / PS4 release where Xbox one sucked, and then around when Microsoft bought Activision, and now it's basically gone because Microsoft threw in the towel.

This was most likely my final generation. We have PS5s & Switch 1s that never get used, while the Switch 2s rarely get used. The only system that gets used daily is the PC. Heck, I don't recall the last time the family even talked about a Playstation game even for PC. Xbox around here was long ago 86'ed

I have a PS5 Pro and a PC (99% Steam only). Now I feel like I am a pair of Chinese finger cuffs to Sony and Valve after reading this thread.

i wish i didn't bother buying a PS5. absolute waste of money.

I have a kick ass PC and Switch so that covers everything. my PS5 is just a glorified YouTube machine. the only reason i haven't tossed it in the bin yet is because I want to play GTA 6 at launch instead of waiting for the PC release.

I have PS5 Pro, PC, and now a Switch 2. I play about 90% of my games on the PC. If performance were better on PS5 (e.g. Doom Dark Ages running at 80fps+) I would seriously consider switching to console only. Outside of the exclusives, I don't really care about the PS5. I bought Saros and loved it, but if it were to come out on PC in a year (doubtful given some of the recent chatter about exclusivity) then I wish I would have just waited.

my PS5 is basically only been for games i'm too impatient to wait to come to PC.

final fantasy vii rebirth, death stranding 2, and gta 6.

When physical copies are no longer available on consoles, I'll think twice about getting ripped off by Valve and using a crappy license I don't even own.

In the meantime, I'll stick with consoles.

I'm the opposite. I feel that my digital games are way safer on PC, especially Steam. I therefor made the switch from consoles to PC.

I am in a similar boat. Although my Lenovo Legion Go, Go 2 and Go S are on windows due to the games I play. Steamos doesn't really work for me on pc handhelds.

Currently have ps5 for physical collection since I pivoted towards ps5 for physical ever since switch 2 and their gamekeycard nonsense.

Still have a massive switch physical collection.

I like to keep myself open to games on any platform due to exclusives or what not. So no- zero plan to leave behind consoles.

I didn't but i wish i did. 2020-21 was a strange time. Had a PC but still bought a console. Now I never play on the damn thing. I'm moving more toward PC + Handheld and maybe I'll get the Steamframe when it drops

I've always tried to have all consoles, handhelds and a gaming pc, but this generation I made the conscious decision to try to ONLY buy console games physically, and thusly my pc game collection has shot up tenfold.

My current thing I'm into is buying up as many indie pc games I can on the cheap and playing them via Gamenative on my Odin2 Portal. It's like my Steam Deck, only better in every measurable way other than compatibility, which is a given, considering.
