Whole New PS3 information!!!

Harrison said that it would be up to individual companies to create "financial relations" (or something like that) with the customer. That doesn't particularly screen 'free' to me.

I expect the existing PS2 model to be in place again for PS3 (pay per channel) and i think the US might get the same this time around.

As for the rest of the text - is PSm an official magazine??? It just seems like a colabouration of rumours culled together.

... well, lets just see what the other two companies come out with. I don't think it's quite as easy as you'd think. MS has had a good 4 years to iron out kinks, Sony are going for a first cut attempt.

PSM is independant if memory serves.

I'm not really surprised by anything in that first post. Wow, next generation Gran Turismo, Hot Shots Golf, Ridge Racer, EA & Rockstar on board, various other must-show titles, a revamped online plan, etc. These were all to be expected.

What's such a revelation?

The latest on PS3's power
"Once we have final hardware for both next-gen systems, we'll have a much better idea of how they caompare, but the general consensus right now is that the PS3 is considerably more powerful than the X360 across the board," said another source. "It's important to get a good idea of which is the most powerful soon, since multi-platform games will need to be either ported down from PS3 to 360 or vice-versa."

Translation:

"Multi platform games will be developed for the lowest common denominator thus PS3 titles will look like crapola."

DCharlie is not a Sony hater...anymore. He was bad around the PS2 launch days, but he's night and day from that today. He's one of the reliable sources on here IMO, and seems like a nice enough guy. No need for the hate. Just thought I'd add some nice words for him too. :) PEACE.

Are we to infer that the next multiplatform NFS is U3 since that is what's listed for the PS2?

That's... strange.

thats its the exact words i will use if my english wasn´t so poor

I'm skipping the 360 and going straight to the PS3. I dunno why, but the tentative PS3 game list reminds me of the good ol 32-bit days. There's just something in the air.

just wondering but why is it that the damn cover can't be posted? its not like we would be giving away anything from the mag itself (which was already done). Kinda retarded to allow posts that practically dictate entire articles but ban scans that include said information.... all IMO that is :)

That Metal Gear Solid 4 "info" sounds fantastic. I don't care if it turns out to be true or not, I'm just psyched for MGS4 all around. As it stands right now, it's the reason I'll be buying a PlayStation 3.

sorry guys , i didn't mean to derail the thread

I won't lie - i give sony the hardest time out of the three companies (although i suspect that is going to change over the next week due gross stupidity). I'd go on and on about how you only hate on the ones you truly love, but you'd not believe it ;)

Re: business side - i think these are threads i get the most upset in simply because most of the stuff that gets said in support of sonys results is usually inaccurate. Sony make great video games consoles, but as a profit making company, they aren't particularly good. Some of their decissions are baffling etc etc...

Games wise? No complaints at all! I'd certainly consider myself one of the biggest PSP whores on the board for a start.

If the PS3 is the beast it looks like it is, hell stick everything on it. And if they've got an online service like XBL - even better.

DCharlie, what have you heard on the subject matter, and what position do you hold in the gaming industry to put some credibility to your info?

I don't have any link to the gaming industry whatsoever (in terms of working in it). All the friends i had at uni went on to video game coding at various companies in europe. In Tokyo , i just get to meet more people in the industry.

RE: GTA4. I think every man and his dog knows that renderware isn't going to be used for the next gen... for pretty much ANYTHING (see E3 predictions - everyone was moving away from it back then , R*N are no exception). R*N are still looking at their options, i think the general feel for them is that they want a nice fat user base to sell to first ;). I believe they will announce something soon for PS3 exclusive, but it won't be GTA.

"I also have the impression that Dcharlie is more about what he'd like than what he knows."

That's unfair! Give me PS3 Makaimura anyday. I'd just need confirmation because asking around all i'm getting so far is emails full of mocking laughter. Given i _personally_ doubt a couple of titbits in the info (GTA4 primarily which seems to be total conjecture "it will look and feel great!" - WOW! who'd have thunk!) , then i'm holding off getting my lance, stripping down, and getting my white and red underpants out for a dancing party just yet.
:)

I remember DCharlie explaining before, roughly, that after seeing how Sony operates from the inside, he couldn't fathom how they were leading the market and was worried they were asleep at the wheel. Or something to that effect.
.

Heh, all big companies look like that if you see them close up from the inside :)

The companies that are successful are just the ones that have slightly less fuckups running them than the others.
