The ad I saw said "next thursday" as in May 5th, instead of the 12th.

I personally don't have very high hopes that it will be very revealing. I expect to see the console itself, a lot of PR and buzzwords, and even more Elija Wood and other celebrities saying how cool Xbox is.

EDIT: My DVR has "MTV Presents: The Next Generation Xbox" for Thursday May 12th at 8:30 central.

i'm pretty excited. i think it's a cool way to unviel a new console...

after hearing all the complaints about the next gen images we've been getting the last few weeks and hearing how graphics oriented devs like team ninja would be making much more impressive looking games, i'm interested in seeing if that turns out to be true...

personally i'm amazed (and completly satisfied) with the graphics quality of elder scrolls 4, so if there are a lot of games that will look way better than that, i want to see them.

It's gonna be different kind of unveiling. I expect the name, shots of the system and controller, footage of a few games and lots of hype for the Live/Guide/community/communication side of things.

Then E3 will bring the big exclusive announcements, tech specs and full launch title unveiling.

whats the point of waiting for e3? with the mtv announcement they will have a much bigger audience and i thought the whole point of announcing on mtv was to go straight to the people buying games without the press as a filter. Why would they waste that chance by just teasing people?

i expect a one sided look at the console with LOTS of flattering game footage. they want to make people drool.

The last time a televised system unveiling had me excited was when Sega released an informercial to hype the 32X. Stuff like that just doesn't thrill me the way it used to... I figure that every game media outlet in existence is going to be trumpeting whatever info's revealed within minutes after this special airs anyway, so why subject myself to the agony of MTV just to get the scoop a tiny bit sooner? Guess I'm just getting old.
