Why do I suck so much at GT4?

And why do my fingers hurt so much after 54 minute race in 12 laps?

And why is there so few cars in lan mode? And why do I suck... no really I can't fucking turn.

Brake early, let off the gas, set your car up so its facing the right way out of the corner and then accelerate.

GT4 is shitloads harder than GT3 and very different. I noticed it when taking favourite GT3 cars around favourite tracks in GT4. The difference (Tom's Castrol Supra on Trial Mountain especially) is amazing.

I doubt it's you who sucks at GT4, but rather, GT4 that sucks FOR you. Yeah.

Every new GT game, they keep changing a lot of the physics and gameplay controls a little bit, so it becomes harder and harder... and makes you go out and buy their stupid racing wheel.

I remember in GT2, I did every damn race with my good ol'd D-pad and X and Square buttons. But now trying to do that in GT4 is so much harder, especially when they have the analog buttons turned on at all times, the pressure sensitive shit... you always have to press so hard on them to go sometimes.

So if you really want to perform best, get the wheel...

That's funny, cause I find GT4 is far easier to play with the pad then GT3 was. Then again GT3 was so slow it was a fucking chore trying to stay with it anyway. GT4 fixed that issue and then some.

to get more cars in lan mode you have to save cars you want to use in your favorites. i think you can only save like 30 cars. no garage cars though.

a couple things you might want to try are using manual transmission and turning off TCS and ASM. those driving aids really work against you in some of the slower cars and create a lot of understeer. manual allows you to get in the right gear when you need it. these few things make a huge difference IMO. Ill have to try GT4 with the DS2 though since Ive only used to wheel. it might be that they changed it so much its hard to play with the controller though there hasnt been any huge backlash about it from people who played GT3 with the controller.

Did i mention i only have played GT, and that was briefly cause I got so frustrated not being able to past the first license?

Use first person, manual, and practice your lines and it should come together eventually. It did for me and I never played a Gran Turismo game before 4.

You know to approach turns from the outside, then hit the inside of a turn at it's apex, then exit on the outside again, right? The idea is to take turns in straight a line as possible, thus maintaining the highest speed.

Also, be sure to use first-person mode, since you get the best idea of how close you can get to walls, etc..

Hopefully that improves your game. Oh yeah, always think about throttle/braking control - don't lock your wheels/spin out! :)

This is where people is supposed to understand where there's the difference between an arcade racer and one that wants to simulate racing.
You just can't drive a car without some technique and GT4 require you to understand the logic of driving physics. I personally find GT4 easier to drive than previous installments because it's more accurate with reality.
Keep up dude and think about how a real car is driven. You'll get better and probably devellop abilities to own even more in your arcade racers after that.

GT4 controls better with the D-Pad than with the analog stick IMHO...it's more than managable and the pressure sensitive buttons are easy to use...pushing the button in 1/3 leads to 100% pressure in-game with me...regarding the X and brake buttons I agree 110% but then again...that's why I use the right analog stick :b
