I know it's human nature, but why do we think it's okay? Shouldn't we try to treat everyone as equals and the same despite their race, disability, gender or sexuality? I mean even on these boards we try to "be sensitive" of others. But aren't you being insensitive when you do that? Isn't true sensitivity and respect about being honest to people different than yourself?

I agree. Political correctness sucks. It covers the problem, but does nothing to fix it. The bad blood remains, or is even strengthened.

Waitwait. Can you expound on how being sensitive is being insensitive? Do you mean like overcorrection of perceived internal bias?

Society makes us take sides. Whether it is sports teams, nationalism, or religion, we are raised to take a side instead of embracing the whole sport, the whole earth or all believes. It is hard to expect people to NOT become prejudges in today's society.

No. That's only true if you are a disingenuous person to begin with.

No offense to you, but in my experience, the people who say things like what you posted usually turn out to have racist/sexist feelings towards another group. Make of that what you will.

Political correctness isn't about hiding your feelings towards certain members of the group, it's about including everyone in the group.

Political Correctness is for losers. You should refrain from saying certain things out of simple common sense and respect for your fellow man. The fact that you feel that society is forcing you to be mindful of how your words affect people only illustrates how fucked up you are.

Pollitical Correctness is evil, once you start limiting language you reduce the opportunities for original thought. (think 1984)

If a person holds back because they may offend someone, what does that say about what said person thinks of that someone.

I mean if you hold back from saying to a friend, "you are messed up!", you are 1:
1) Being decietful about how you feel towards that person
2) Stopping that friend from finding others that don't think that of him
3) You think you are better than him/her. It's more respetful to be honest with someone that do cloak and dagger things behind his back.
4) You create an emotional distance.
5) Stopping the friend from helping you to not think of him/her that way.
