the only thing excessive about Matt Stafford is his post-game meal
To the degree they do now? Horseshit. The perception and image of Tom Brady and Bill Belichek changed big time after Spygate and Deflategate.
The constant comparisons to Brady and worse, Manziel, are simply making the point. To be on an even level in terms of how guys are viewed and what kind of image they have, a white QB can be an insufferable prick with a drinking problem who may or may not have cheated on multiple occasions....a black QB can be a model citizen who does a lot of charity and is constantly smiling and who dances after touchdowns. These two are on the same level. Both worthy of being hated. But nah, race isn't a factor.

Eh I'd say that it is. RG3 is seen as "one of the good ones" by some people. Where as Cam is in your face, brash and plays by his own rules. And people don't like to see a successful black man do that. They want them to be quiet, meek, tamed etc
Like why did people hate TO and Randy Moss and love receiver like Jerry Rice?
To be clear, I'm not saying this to down RG3 or JR etc. I have no problem with them
There is a distinctive difference between an excessive celebration and a normal celebration, guess who did the excessive one.
Not that this undoes your point, but Newton is the #5 jersey and Watt is #9.

1. Brady
2. Beckham Jr
3. Gronk
4. Rodgers
5. Cam
6. Keuchly
7. Dez
8. Wilson
9. Watt
10. Antonio Brown
When NFL posts their updated numbers I'd imagine Cam will be #1 or maybe behind Brady, but probably not.
Still Watt is obviously super well known, hell he's on track to be the greatest defensive player in NFL history. For what it's worth though, Watt gets a lot of criticism for his rehearsed, choreographed stupid garbage. I can't stand Watt, especially after Hard Knocks this season. But it's also normal for more people to love and hate a quarterback than a defensive player, especially when it's a QB on a 15-1, best team in the NFL. Brady is the #1 jersey seller, but he's likely the most hated player by fans in the NFL too.
Between him and my sister, I'm starting to hate the color yellow..

How can you not despise someone with such awful fashion sense?
I still want him to win, so the Panthers can send PeyPey to the glue factory
Cam Newton seems to have a growing group of people that strongly dislike him. From my observation, they do not like that he celebrates touchdowns or somethin? I guess he has a thing where he dances after a touchdown and gives the ball to a kid in the crowd. I've also heard people think he's trying to promite his brand or something during the game. But I've seen tons of players celebrate similarly with no issue. Are people just playing the "the quarterback must be a serious player" card just because he's black? I don't know if the sports media is overblowing this, but it felt like people were acting so concerned over nothing.
The people who hate Tom Brady do so, in part, because he has been linked to cheating twice in his career, spy gate and deflate gate. That is what hurts his perception as a player. Cam has been nothing but a model citizen since he stepped foot in the NFL.
They hate Tom because he dominates. Deflate gate was a joke that the media needed to fuck around with while they waited for these guys to come back and bash each others heads in. Brady can be a baby on the field at times, but people hate him because he's good looking, makes a ton of money, and QBs the most dominate team (almost a decade and a half now). People love to hate, the cheating is some shit they throw around to fuck with Pats fans.
Edit: Why do folks hate Lebron?
i agree that deflategate was a joke, but not everyone does, and to some people it affected the way they look at him. Same with spygate.
people hate lebron because he's not a killer like Kobe or Jordan. The hate stems from the perception of him not being the beast that he maybe could've been. What I mean by that is yes he's one of the all time greats, but he'll never be THE greatestThey hate Tom because he dominates. Why do people hate Morgan Freeman?

Recording from the wrong spot is a big deal.Spygate is a bit more serious, but how serious we'll never know! Now that is some shady fucking dealings.

Who honestly gives shit. Cam can do as he pleases as far as celebrations go. If anyone has an issue with it. Stop him from scoring then.
lmao give me a fuckin break. It's the same shit. Just because one dance lasts 3-5 seconds longer all of a sudden it's excessive? Why? So that it can fit a narrative about one person being out of line and the other not? There is also a distinct difference between a touchdown and a sack, once puts points on the board and the other doesn't, so since we are assigning weight to dances based on time, a TD dance has every right to be a little longer than a sack dance.
Edit: Why do folks hate Lebron?
Its that, his blackness and hip hop vibe exacerbating the dislike. If he was white, hed have some haters, but more would be willing to accept him as a guy just out having fun.Yup all this. His arrogant, flippant attitude combined with stratospheric ego doesn't come in to it at all.
No one hates Morgan Freeman, but there's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeixtYS-P3s
And as mentioned repeatedly, most NFL fans loathe the fuck out of Brady, Cam has a long way to go.
It was all a big cover up. Roger didn't want to punish the Pats so he destroyed the evidence. You got the tapes bro! Lets have a look, oh wait, we can't, they destroyed them!
Edit: And yes, it's certainly a bit more serious than fucking deflate gate which was absolutely nothing. Where's Jabee?
And what's with the towel? Why?
don't get it twisted - Aaron is a smug piece of shit, but he does it on the down lowTom Brady is hated because he is the leader of a team full of cheats.
The Patriots and Brady are a disgrace to the game.
People focus on Cam Newton's celebrations and boastfulness because he is black.
Aaron Rodgers does the same smiling, taunting, cocky thing every Sunday and no one cares. He's just out there playing a children's game ala Brett Favre.
Smokey pls
I hated when he combined the gloating with being a pouty bitch - same as Tom Brady, Edelman, that piece of shit Brad Jones, and every receiver who holds the ball out in front of themselves and drops it after a first down and flag begs on every other play
lots of maturation, but winning makes a lot of things easy!
American hate great team based athletes in general.
Why?
Because there's less than a 5 percent chance he plays for your favorite team.
Fans just hate their enemies specially if you're good. They look for thing to hate. The better you get the more your hate.
Brady got hate way before the cheating scandel. (That just made it worse)
Lebron got hate way before the decision (that just made it worse)
Bryce Harper is the most hated player in baseball.
Newton is currently the best player in football. He should win the MVP this year. The hate will continue to come.
Unless you fake modesty like the Kevin Durants and the Peyton Mannings of the world, embrace it. It's what makes great players greater.

Jeter got a lot of hate from non Yanquis fans.Bryce Harper is not hated because he's great. Mike Trout is as good or better and gets very little hate. He's hated because common perception of him is that he's cocky and entitled, whether true or not, but lets not act like it's just because he's great that people dislike him.
I just want to see Finley do his stupid celebration one more time :'((((you know i aint lying greg

They hate us cuz they anus
Just saying there's a contingent of people who hate everyone.Of course you can find some people (especially the diehard fanatics) that hate anything and anyone. But you have to be crazy to not think that, as far as athletes go, Derek Jeter's public image was fucking teflon. The guy did no wrong.
