Actually, the whole 'goth' thing is a bit behind my time. When I was in high school, the kids you would consider 'goths' were the drama club. They wore makeup (the guys), wrote poetry, listened to shitty music like The Cure, and would hang around after school practicing for the next play. The girls were loose, but only among thier little clique. It was like a wife swapping party with those folks.


So, everything I know about goths, I unfortunately learned from TV, the internet, or walking around the mall. So, I am probably misinformed.

I've had similar experiences, Goths as i would describe them are nothing like the new breed of teenagers who are really just normal kids in crappy dark clothes who listen to (quite) heavy rock music...

...they are the new version of 90's 'hippies', only rather than keeping the weed and dropping the ideals they kept the clothes and dropped the attitude.



Chavs are a much bigger problem. One that can only be solved by killing everyone under the age of 18, right now. I'd happily give up my state pension to see that happen.

I agree with alot thats been said, especially about the irony of the way some of them dress. What annoys me most are the ones that give themselves their own names. We had a kid at my high school who called himself Prince Alex. I shit you not. My high school also had a massive Jocks Vs. Freaks brawl in the cafeteria over some goth tard wearing a shirt with an upside-down Cross. It was fuckin hilarious.

I have met one really cool goth chic but she was way mellow, not at all the stereotype look either. She always had awesome weed.

Personally, I like a lot of the real goth music and goth era music. And I think some goth clothing is rather suave in its victorian faire.

What I really love are when people that are trying to be different start ragging on American Eagle, yet they shop at Hot Topic. Like Hot Topic is some underground store that only exists in their town, come on now. Same damn difference.

When you think about it, there really is no way to win this. If you shop at Abercrombie, you're a mindless prep. If you shop at Hot Topic, you're trying too hard to be different..and failing. If you really don't care and just wear what you want, people will think you're an attention whore. Wearing old faded t-shirts is hip now as well. So no matter what you wear, people are going to place you into some group.
