Though they, along wth Bowie, did have a huge influence on the original goths...
the imagery isnt goth either dude, thats like 80's vogue.
White Man said:It was an indirect influence. Their direct influences would be punk and post-punk. Goths then formed from those subbacultchas.
That album is from 1973.

But weren't a large majority of the 'goths' orginally coined 'post-punk?' And post-punk is such a meaningless term anyway. It can have so many connotations. I think glam, roxy music and bowie in particular, had at least an equal amound of influence as punk did. At least.

agree: goths are such cocks they are all the same and don't even see the stupid irony
disagree: "What do you think a goth is? It's not the people dressed in black it's more of ..... an ideal...... (fails to explain"

Alyssa DeJour said:What I don’t understand about goths (and punks) is all the metal many of them put in their face. Sure, I don’t mind the odd piercing, but when your whole face is full of the stuff it is just not attractive.
At all.
xabre said:You're right and you know what? Good on them. I wish I had the inner strength to be able to stuff my face full of metal and junk and be totally self confident in my appearance to the point where you utterly couldn't care less what other people think of you. They may look ridiculous from my perspective but if they couldn't give a fuck what I think and are comfortable being who they are then defiantly good on them. Goths and the like have my admiration because they buck the trend in being yet another social sheep trying to fit in, and instead have the courage and confidence to present themselves alternatively from mainstream society.
They try way too hard to be different and shocking to the point that they are irritating and unwittingly become the punch line in their own joke. Ironically in their attempt at giving the finger to conformity by becoming a Goth, they themselves conform to the dress codes and demeanour expected of Goths.Star Power said:Why does everyone hate goths?
