Why doesn’t GF use English pronunciation for Eevee?

This has been annoying me. In Japanese pronunciation or Pokémon Let's Go reads as "Pikachu" and "Eevoi"

In English it reads as "Pikachu" and "Eevee"

Did they really not want to re-record a single voice line so it makes sense in the west?

What, you mean the sound Eevee makes? I think it's close enough, and I don't expect perfect pronunciation from Pokémon anyways. Some of 'em can't even say their own name. Krabby comes to mind.

For those interested: the difference in pronunciation stems from the fact that the Japanese language doesn't have a "V". For that reason, the Japanese don't know how to pronounce it either; There's no reason to learn. Eevee's name in Japanese is イーブイ or iibui. That "bu" part has to stand in for the "V", and that's pretty much the best they can do to come close to saying Eevee.

Eh, ヴイ or even better ヴィ would be a closer pronunciation and it can be done in Japanese.

I thought pikachu was the only one who said his name. Ive only played Pokemon up til the Ds games but they always made weird noises when you talked to them

In the animated show, most of 'em just repeat their names over and over. Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Mr. Mime, Goldeen, Psyduck, Oddish... the list goes on.
