Why don't more bands do this?

Would you like to help us choose our setlist for the Headlining tour? Then click here to vote! (Select 10 songs)

Let the fans vote for the songs they're gonna hear. That totally kicks ass. As does Atreyu.

But really, more bands should do this. It's cool as hell.

Fugazi doesn't even have set lists. They just play whatever people want or what they feel they should play at the time of their concert. Take that Atreyu!

Jimmy Eat World did somthing similar, asking fans to vote for the one song they most wanted to hear during the tour. The fans selected 23 from the album Futures. Guess what they didn't play at the concert I was at?

Because some fans live in the past, and many times bands get tired of playing their old stuff and want to move on and promote their new songs.

But yea I love the idea for new bands and bands with only a few releases.

Face To Face put out an album in 2000 (Reactionary) with a track list primarily influenced by internet fan voting.

Once all the new songs had been recorded, many of the band's fans stepped in and--in an unprecedented move for a major recording act--they helped shape the creation of Reactionary by expressing directly to Face To Face, through Internet voting, which of the new tunes they liked or didn't like.

"Through a promotion with mp3.com, we let our audience vote on which material made it onto the record," states Trever. "And we chose the most popular, most voted-for songs. So we felt that we were reacting to the opinions of our audience. We thought Reactionary was a very a very fitting title for that approach."

Because then everyone would pick the same songs and you'd hear the same old songs whatever show you went to. I think hearing less popular songs performed better than expected is what makes concerts fun. Plus hearing random covers.

SFA did a show with a lottery system, where every song listed on a sheet of paper above them had the possibility of being played. That's much more exciting.

Well, Atreyu only has two CDs out....so, there's not a big difference between the old school and newer stuff. those same old songs are liked by basically everyone who likes atreyu =)

but APC and TMV came in mind when i thought of this.
