convenience <--- ⚖️ ---> future world's problems

Wouldn't wanna be part of the future's world.
In the end, earth wins. Whatever species is dominant then, earth does not care.

Sometimes I wonder if every civilization in space encounters (and succumbs to) these same problems.

Literally anything could do damage if not handled correctly, but eating that stuff stays in your stomach longer (kids, pets etc.) it’s a great time to create stuff.

I have PVC's. They were detected in an EKG. I was very surprised to hear that I have them. Before I started taking 25mg of Metoprolol daily, I had 27,000 extra in 24 hours. With the med I have 16-17,000 extra in 24 hours. The cardiologist is still mildly concerned but pleased to see the decrease. He would rather see the numbers decreased to 10,000 in 24 hours. I was told that I may need further treatment from a electrophysiologist - medication or an ablation. Of course, my first reaction is to treat this naturally to avoid the alternative. I have heard that a gluten-free diet may help. I have also heard that Yoga or Tai Chi may prove beneficial. So, these are most likely my next steps. We'll see what happens.

asbestos was no different til recently

Asbestos thing is mostly scarefakenews based on lung disease not actually on cancer rates which were mostly horseshit science. And to get lung disease you need to work with asbestos without mask but you can get this way any lung disease working with almost any mineral.

Stupid mold in your kitchen has more chance to kill you by contracting sepsis than asbestos ever could and i am yet to see anyone cleaning their kitchens to metal every day.

For sure though a lot of people earned pretty penny by either removing asbestos or replacing it with something else.

Virtually everything manufactured is based on:

- Organics (shit that can be grown and eaten or used for clothes)
- Petroleum (energy and leads to making plastic)
- Plastic
- Metal
- Wood
- Concrete/stone/ceramic

You get rid of plastic and half the stuff in your house from shelves, video game console, packaging and food containers would need to be shifted to another source material.

They don't even ban cigarettes yet. Just go look at a smokers house. Walls caked in yellow goop and their lungs filled with black tar.

Cigarettes and obesity are bigger things to worry about for now.

Yep, and lets not forget how many lives plastics have saved. The current medical industry and medical device industry would completely collapse without plastics. So many of our tools, procedures, devices and lifesaving measures rely on their unique properties.

Is it really that shocking?

We live in a world where cigarettes are legal and food with cancerous chemicals are fed to the masses.

You miss my point, we put it in everything not that long ago, because it was seen as a wonder substance, now we can do fuck all about it, we just have to leave it a lot of the time
The reason we have to leave it a lot of the time because asbestos is actually fairly safe in it's intended applications, The people who were(and are, Asbestos is still being used today in certain applications where it remains the best material) at risk to asbestos were the workers who installed it every day of their lives.

If you don't break it up and make it airborne, basically 0 risk, if you have rare and sporadic contact with it, the risk is small.

If you worked with it every day in an era before the risk was fully understood without proper PPE, the risk is high.

Similar with PVC, as with almost every substance. The dose makes the poison, and the realistic dose in most cases for the common applications of PVC is 0, unless you eat sewer pipe and electrical insulation or burn it and inhale the smoke.

Just contributing to the discussion.

Never blindly trust a company/the industry even when they 100% guarantee the safety of something they sell. They used to sell blankets made with this stuff. The fiber that came out of it enters your lungs, making scars and causing fibrosis and cancer.
