I believe this new. The tactic would be to start spilling all the beans when it's the Xenon launch and distract PS2 userbase from going for a Xenon. If Sony aren't stupid that's what they will do i suppose.

At the very least, they shouldn't give any specifics about hardware specs until this fall. If they say anything far enough in advance for Microsoft to respond prior to their X360 rollout (say for instance, the exact amount of RAM or some swank GPU capability) than it would be really dumb.
