Why is the community convicting Evilore? I see no jurors here.

Why though? That's their business. None of us are owed that information. Even if she did come forward, that opens her up to scrutiny and harassment, and for what? To make complete strangers feel better about being a part of a message forum? For people that want all the personal details, would you be fine posting your real names here? Probably not, because you value your privacy. You get to post behind a fake name, but these other people involved have to have their personal lives scrutinized and don't get to hide behind a persona.

It wasn't everyone who moved on though. It wasn't even most people and honestly it shouldn't be used to represent everyone who you disagree with just because pretending a handful of people are all one person is convenient for you when directing your posts at a vague something to make a point.

You keep constructing these straw effigies you want to rally against... and I'm not sure what you expect me or other people to do with that. If you want to discuss things with people a good place to start to respond to things people currently in the conversation have said or done. What you did was confusing... especially since you posted right before me and after me and it is the second post that I responded to.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt but forgive me if it felt to me like you had some canned responses in the chamber and you didn't read through my post before you made yours. I'm willing to accept that I could have been wrong - but that's what your post looked like.

Gotta say though that if you don't want to belong to a community with those kind of people... 'they' are still here. The good and the bad. And again, I urge you read the post you may not have... because I took the effort to point out an important reason why people left that you have yet to address. If you don't want to look like you're dishing out a few canned responses you can at least put forth the effort to actually read and respond to posts instead of implying you did to make point. Otherwise it just looks like you don't actually care and you're just here as a cheerleader. My point that he alienated the community by nuking half of the forum (at the time people left) and forcing the community to reflect his personal issues is valid.

I apologize that I didn't address your point directly.

I was among the first here after the server went back up and stayed pass midnight. Yes you are right there was outrage. I don't believe it was solely due to missing sub forums. There were a lot of angry people ready to leave. But as you said, there were many many who were dissatisfied the sub forums were gone (but in Evilore' s announcement he did say the sub forums would come back, the only thing not would be political discussion).

There were also a large amount of people who were "pulled" away by people advertising other place that was supposed to be an exact copy of gaf but better.

I understand they left due to the above reasons...but I just think that's overreaction. You don't have to agree with me. That's just my perspective.

So? The community here is done with the constant bitching about EviLore and his handling of the aftermath. What’s done is fine. We all just want to get back to discussing videogames and other stuff, but a lot of you guys are reluctant to do so. Not you, necessarily, but a lot of people. It’s childish, unreasonable, and unnecessary. Reset Era has been set up for those unhappy with EviLore and NeoGAF, so why are those who are unhappy still hanging around and whinging? Just go already, damn it, some of us still enjoy posting here.

Some of us want to be active members of both sites, shockingly enough. You know what's childish? Calling people little bitches. Your responses by and large have been overly hostile, and in general you've reacted to people attempting to debate your positions with "leave."

If there are topics you don't want to discuss, don't enter those threads. I can have issues with the current state of this forum AND still desire to post here.

Again, I posted this earlier and will post again.

It wasn't just one situation that set the whole thing off. It was a combination of things. There's evidence of those. The revenge porn, the groping a chick, banning of people bringing any of this up, the lack of communication, the poor communication with mods leading to them leaving, etc. This was all brought up with the incident, and it was enough for many users to say nope and get out of here.

The sheer size of Foxconn's factories in China always need to be taken into consideration. Their largest factory has up to 400,000 staff living and working there, and they employ nearly 1 million workers in China alone. Not defending the working practises there, but the suicide rate per capita at Foxconn is lower than in China itself, and lower than the US as well.

The screen shots were posted dozens of times during the drama but they all seem to be gone now as well.

You will have to Google it, screenshots are all over the web (screen grabs, not actual porn)

Evilore wasn’t anyone but a poster at the time, he didn’t own GAF, NeoGAF wasn’t even a thing at that point. I stuck with the community and when it moved to NeoGAF, so did I, because this is all bigger than one person.

And I’ve done the same thing with Era. Being apart of LGBT GAF and a few other communities, I’ve moved because of the connections I’ve made with people and what everyone brings to the table is what made this site and now Era, great. People are still trying to move over, I’ll continue posting until I see fit to stop.

If I post anything I'll get banned I'm guessing. It's happened to people before. It's one of the reasons I never learned about all of this until recently. Threads were always closed and people banned.

I was unaware of the revenge porn or ass grabbing and I've been a member here for years. That was the carrot that toppled the cake for me. It's a pattern and it makes me feel uncomfortable to support someone after learning that. I do agree that the people who knew and ignored it shouldn't be on a high horse.

With that said, I'm sure the two of you will respond to me, or maybe not. I do apologize when you receive no response. I'm not trying to shit post or do a drive by. I just feel its best for me to move on. I sincerely do not want to make a scene. I'm logging out now, for real. If you continue to post here ok. I hope you have fun.

Yep I remember it too. I remember the member who traded the photos, (pretty infamous across several boards in the early 2000’s) and remember the posting of the pics. Hell I even remember her name. I thought it was pretty horrible but never actually put 2 and 2 together that it was EL who posted them and that was the same guy who eventually owned the forum.

I could have sworn GAF was Malka's by 2004. I remember when everything got wiped around that time and the new board became GAF (later becoming NeoGAF)

If this "revenge porn" is referring to Oli's girlfriend, that had to have happened no earlier than 2005. http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=41384

I think it's incredibly telling that there are a lot of people using the "See! You're just as bad as us. Don't you feel ashamed?" style gotcha logic here.

Okay, let me rephrase, there was no evidence to support this claim of sexual harassment. The past incidents have nothing to do with what’s going on now. The real question is, though, if EviLore’s past incidents DO bother you all so much, why did you still stick around until now? I mean, the revenge porn and ass groping is far worse than this, and yet you continued to post here, despite knowing what he’d done. Hmm, are you perhaps a closet supporter?

1. We are not directly supporting him. The ads pay him not us. But yes I guess you can call us indirectly supporting him.

2. What makes you think he should lose his right/ or ability or whatever to making a living from his business? If he closes down this forum and goes to flip burgers at a fast food chain should we call to boycott the store too? What he has done (what's known anyway) is no where near Harry Weinstein level.
