At the time Disney / Marvel had not yet purchased Fox's assets, so they rewrote the Maximoff twins into a product of experimentation. Marvel also retconned some other mutants in the comics in similar ways as well, since Fox had the rights to portray any mutant on-screen.
There's been drops that mutants exist in the Miss Marvel and She-Hulk shows, though. So we know they're in the MCU now.

When the MCU started the tension between Fox and Disney over the mutants and F4 became so bad Perlmutter ordered Marvel to basically pretend X-Men and F4 didn’t exist. Since Fox made money off the mutants he wouldn’t allow Disney to make merchandise for them, he ordered Marvel to not create any MAJOR new mutant characters in the comics (as that would give Fox a new movie character to use), and after F4 2015 (which Marvel didn’t even want released) he removed all F4 art from the walls of their NY HQ and then allowed the Punisher to kill the cast in the comics.At the time Disney / Marvel had not yet purchased Fox's assets, so they rewrote the Maximoff twins into a product of experimentation. So does that mean in the MCU canon, Scarlet Witch would not be Magneto's daughter then? That's going to feel weird when they do introduce Magneto into the MCU.

What seriously? LOL I don't follow comics anymore so I had no idea. All of my X-Men knowledge comes from the 90s animated TV show.
