Why the randomness of GTA:SA is amazing (short video)

I love this motherfucking game! Been playing non stop for the past few days. Its just sooooo damn good.

About 100 hours into the game, I finally did the pimping missions. I had no idea they were that damned fun.

Pimping in vegas = better than anything else released last year.

:lol :lol :lol

I haven't played SA in awhile but I've always heard about people talking about seeing plane crashes in the city etc... does anybody have any of those clips?

:lol

I once had a "destroy this car" mission finished early due to a plane slamming into it :D the randomness is great indeed

I was over a friend's house and he was playing around in SF. I told him about that bullet that spawns at that burger place and he told me he didnt know about it. I told him how to get there and he was like "cool, i get to drive a new cool car". But JUST as he got in, a fucking plane dropped out of the sky and owned his ass.

GREAT FUCKING GAME!

hahaha, omg, that was awesome! :lol

I had it once, was just driving around LS, when all of a sudden a plane fell out of the sky onto the offramp and into a bus in front of me. Tried to get out of my car as fast as possible (had just stolen a pretty slick sportscar) but got caught in the blasts that followed due to the high traffic density on the highway.... Man, I was like.... [Keanu Reeves]Woah[/Keanu Reeves]....

Sat there for 5 minutes until I noticed I was back at the hospital.... :D

Awesome clip. :lol

I had a plane crash right in front of me during my first 10 minutes of gameplay. Knocked me off my bike (and off my couch as I screamed "HOLY FUCKING SHIT DID YOU SEE THAT" at the top of my lungs) :lol

Had something similar happen to me...

I just got done doing like 6-7 missions without saving, had tons of ammo and was heading back to a save point. I usually reset the game when I die to keep ammo but I knew this time that there was no way I was replaying some of those missions. So I was carefully driving back to my save spot (garage in san fierro)... I came to the train tracks at minimum speed and I thought to myself "meh I can make this shit I'm almost there" so I hit the gas and right as I got on the train tracks the train pummeled right into the side of my car. I was freaking out at this point because the train was dragging my car for awhile... it caught on fire and I jumped out at just the right time but the train had caught me when I jumped and continued to drag my body until I died. I was pissed yet I laughed my ass off at the same time. :lol

Great video. Really bugs me that I can't get my GTA disk working properly. I load right outside Woozies casino, only to realize that the sound effects are seriously fucked up...and after a few seconds of walking I get a dirty disk error. Other games on the PS2 are working fine... :-/

Is she from the first wave of PS2s? If so, she might have to be put out to pasture.

So... why was this guy recording his game when this just happened to occur?
I dunno, maybe he was trying to make a Base Jumping/Sky Diving and Crazy stunts video for San Andreas...

While that video was cool, it, and this thread, really misrepresents how random GTA is. The odds of getting a plan to hit you in mid air like that are one in a million. That was one of those plane crashes (which has only happened to me once in the entire game). I really don't see much randomness in the game at all when it comes to cool events. There are cops chasing other NPC's, but that's about it.

i was thinking exactly the same thing....

edit: *reads above posts* oh yeah, right.

I just started a mountainbike trial when a plane crashed and killed everyone. Well almost... One guy just kept rolling... He had a yellow shirt on...

When I got to Las Vegas, I saw a plane crash into a growd of black Elvii, tourists, and a cop... Excellent!

I got SA just a few weeks ago and I've been tearing through it. Easily my GOTY, and I didn't even like Vice City that much (can't say exactly why, bought it day it came out, but it just didn't really interest me, maybe it was the whole 80s thing I dunno), but this title has absolutely restored my faith in the series and then some. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Rockstar can do on the next-gen systems. In fact that might be the single biggest thing I'm looking forward to next-gen-wise.

San Andreas rocks.. I really need to get back to finishing it. Have had like 3 missions left for the past 2+ months heh. Never saw a plane crash though...

So in order to get rave reviews from GAFers, including "GREAT FUCKING GAME!", "greatest series ever", and "one of the greatest games ever", you make a game crawling with random bugs? Got it.

Bitter much? If someone pissed you off in another thread criticizing a game you liked unfairly or whatever maybe you should direct comment at them specifically instead of being a dickhead to people who are just talking about how they enjoy a game (yes even in spite of the "crawling random bugs") and not even talking shit about anything at all, that's just pure fuckface.

How is that a bug?
These planes randomly fall out of the sky in San Andreas. Guy next to me got crushed at the end of a difficult mission by a plane that just fell on top of him, out of nowhere. Sorta like this video.

What?

MarkRyan -

Seriously now brother - you've been hating on Grand Theft Auto with a passion since day one on these boards, and I don't know why. I hoped the tag would provide a dialing down of the unbridled vitriol on your part, but it hasn't worked at all. Even the Nintendo/Xbox trolls have the common decency to be somewhat entertaining in their anti-GTA screeds - you just.....hate. And hate for hate's sake is bad.

Henceforth, you are under a bishoptl® gag order preventing you from any further negative commentary re: any GTA game (yep, even the old top-down perspective ones) under pain of permaban. It's for your own good. A restriction of speech? Sure. Fascist? I hope so. Fettering of your freedoms? With some luck, yes. That backpack of tears you carry around must weigh a ton, and it can't be healthy.

Go give the business to True Crime, which actually deserves it.

I was referring more to the reactions of the GAFers than anything else. I don't watch someone abuse Cable in MvC2 and say, "Now that's why this game is awesome!" But okay ;) Henceforth, I will not mention GTA because I have nothing good to say about it (although the top-down games didn't have many problems).

That video is awesome. I unfortunetly have not been able to witness anything as cool as that yet. I haven't seen a plane crash at all actually. Bummer.

The only really cool thing I saw happened when I was swimming under a bridge. I had a bride and a groom jump to their deaths off the bridge. They almost landed on me too. That was pretty freakin funny. :)

Just be happy the gaming forum actually likes a game for once instead of making a ten page thread about how it's "unplayable crap that needs to be buried in the desert"

Yeah, that's not a bug. They randomly insert crashing planes within the player's surrounding environment.
