Wii-U - Amazon listing UK prices and launch date

I was in this exact situation 10 minutes ago. The guy didn't budge one bit. I will try again tomorrow I guess.

We may have exhausted it dudes. I guess they've realised they've been plenty generous and are cutting their losses now. Got to hand it to them for honouring so many of these.

I see this being ruined for everybody shortly... I bet they are being inundated from others who are just trying it on, as well.

D:

Well it's fairly clear to them who ordered what. They can check back on orders, emails, the lot. So rest assured only those who really did have a late cancellation will be honoured (with the odd exception). There's no way to lie your way into it. Thankfully.

Sorry for dbl post.

Can someone, some nice someone, give me a quick rundown of why Amazon should reinstate my June Preorder?

I have not really kept up with this thread, and am a bit confused as to why people are getting their's back.

To be honest, I don't even think they should reinstate it, but I will try

I'll try again tomorrow.

Supervisor: There were some customers who were able to place the order when it was sold at 199.99 GBP. Those are the only orders we can fulfil at that price. If there were customers who were not able to order the item at 199.99 GBP but were allowed by some reps, then those reps have done an incorrect action. This is regardless of the orders placed in June, which were cancelled.

They explained to me it's because the original June orders (which were cancelled in June) we're cancelled beause the delivery date was.listed as July. So it was a listing error. After that, they're listed without a date I believe - so there was no such error, just a trigger happy listing I guess.

If it helps anyone, they seemed to be more sympathetic when I asked if they could explain why my order was being treated differently (genuine question as I didn't understand the above at first).

So if you ordered a premium in June for £199 but it wasn't cancelled until this month, give it a try. If not, don't bother as they'll say no.

No my pre-order in June was cancelled a day later. When I called earlier the women said if the order was cancelled 7 days ago they would honour it but as it was in June nothing they could do but called again tonight and they changed it.

Are they doing this because some people managed to pre-order on thursday for £199.00? I can only think someone thought it was unfair as they had an order in june for £199.00 and decided to query it.

Gave it another try, but it was to no avail.

This time, they told me they are already aware of this thread ( :lol ) and are investigating the issue. I got to talk to another supervisor and he told me that no one was honoring prices anymore, but then I asked him about the supossed email another rep told me about this afternoon and he claims that it was a mistake and that no email is going to be sent.

To be honest, I'm quite mad at Amazon right now. I don't know what's going on anymore :( I guess they are really not going to let anyone else get the old price back... I even told them liger05's brother was able to get the old price back the same minute I was writing that :(

I haven't pre-ordered but I hope the rest don't get burned :lol

That sux dude and dont understand why there are being selective.

And now I've got an email:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

I am sorry that you would like the item "Nintendo Wii U 32GB Premium Pack - Black" at the old value.

Despite our best efforts, with the millions of items available on our website, pricing errors can occasionally occur.

In our Pricing and Availability Policy (see http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=1040614), we state that where an item's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will cancel the order and notify you of that cancellation.

All affected orders have now been cancelled. If you still wish to purchase this item, please place a new order online which will be charged at the correct price, when we dispatch it to you.

Data Protection guidelines prevent us from commenting on customer or order information that is not related to your account.

I am sorry currently we are unable to honour you the old price.

We endeavour to provide our customers with the best possible customer experience and we realise that on this occasion, as a result of a pricing error, we have not met that standard.

We hope this e-mail answers your concerns and that you will give us an opportunity to serve you again.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

I give up :(

Very strange because I got the email at about 9pm. Gonna call and try my luck tomorrow.

Edit - although my email was just a new cancellation notice, not an invite to order again at a lower price.

YES!!!

Dude on the live chat basically told me no, no, and no. I decided to talk to someone on the phone and managed to sweet-talk the lady on the service. XD

£199.99 BABY!

That was just a minute ago.

I guess it was initially one or two CS reps doing price changes as a one-off kind of thing, then it spiralled out of control.

Yeah but as I said this afternoon the rep said to me they couldnt change it but I then decided to call this evening as someone else got there order changed after calling. My brother then called afterwards and again the supervisor authorised it. Godmace was doing this at the same time yet they say no.

Yep but it doesn't look like they're doing that anymore. Seems that was just a few exceptions

Does suck for those who missed out/were messed about. But as we were saying, Amazon wasn't liable to change anything, so the fact they tried to honour so many is quite admirable.

I would still hope those who's June order was only recently cancelled will receive an email to re order. Maybe they're trying to stop people from contacting them so they can just contact the necessary customers directly (instead of everyone trying to get in on the act, and reps deciding case by case)?

I live in Spain, I don't want to make a call to the UK specially not being a native speaker :(

Guess I'll try one last time again. I seriously hope those who got it don't get their orders cancelled, though!

Dude try with the phone. You put in your number and they call you. Its worth the try and you should def speak to them as thats how we seemed to get ours changed.

You'd think so, wouldn't you? I had an email from them saying I could reorder at £199 but when I opened a live chat they said they were unable to see the email so I'm still trying to chase it up now.

Edit: Just had a reply that goes like this: Please write back to us once you receive the dispatch confirmation email, so that we can refund the difference amount.
Please know that we can only able to make the changes once the order get dispatched.

Still arguing with the guy about it

Sorry to hear mate. Hope you get resolved soon.

I just got my Premium 32GB WiiU with Nintendo Land for £199 :)

All thanks to the magic of NeoGAF!

Thanks a ton folks :DDDDD

Congrats! Let's all just hope they don't can the lot!

ps: I love you Amazon. I am currently recommending you to everyone I pass in the street. You are the pinnacle of awesome.

Speaking of which, I just left some really positive CS feedback at Amazon that said pretty much the above. (The rep I spoke to, Shakira, really was lovely).

Maybe if we all leave flattering feedback about how we'll be recommending Amazon to all who'll listen, they'll be less likely to cancel our orders later!

(Really though, they wouldn't cancel our orders now would they?)

I don't think they should either but what's good for the goose.

After no luck with hours of live chat, I asked for a supervisor to call me back to whom I said I made a pre-order in June for £199 that was cancelled whilst some made an order last week for £199 that was being honoured and was there a way I could have my order reinstated.

She asked if I'd made a new order, I said no and then she said I should make one whilst she was on the phone and she would change it. I did that (even using £130 of Amazon vouchers) and she changed the order about 10 seconds after I pressed "Place My Order".

Got an email confirmation of the order and her good work a couple of minutes after that. No explanation or justification needed.

Good plan!

Who knows. But it'd only cause them more grief. It's one thing doing it 6 months from launch, but messing with preorders on a fast selling-out console 2 months from launch would be a super no go for them I would have thought.

Can I just check with the people who have had their orders reinstated? Is it actually showing on your account as £199.XX?

Item(s) Subtotal: £165.83
Postage & Packing: £0.00
-----
Total Before VAT: £165.83
VAT: £33.17
-----
Total: £199.00
Gift Certificate Amount: -£134.80
-----
Grand Total: £64.20

I had an email confirmation of an order placed at £299 and a subsequent customer service feedback email saying it would actually be charged at £199. The order on the website reflects that.

Thank you.

Well I've placed an order at £299 but the rep in the live chat says that no changes to the order can be made but that they will refund me £99 after said order is dispatched. That to me just reeks of bullshit. As I said in the chat I've had to argue for over an hour about this order so I'm not at all confident about Amazon actually making up the difference after they already have my money.

I don't have a confirmation email of the price drop but I'm not worried about Amazon going back on it. Would be a PR nightmare and they wouldn't hear the end of it from me ;)

The price on my order page says £200 though and I have a screenshot just in case.

Those that have had confirmation should keep hope alive, but also bear in mind that legally, Amazon UK don't have to honor the price, even if confirmed by email. They can decide to reverse their decision right up until your card is charged and the item is due for dispatch.

I am curious to know the minimum wage in England or at least the average salary compared to the states. Also if you don't pay any tax on top of that it isn't that different is it? In Toronto it's an additional 13% on top of any price paid.

Min wage is about £6GBP/hr. Average salary said to be around £25,000.

We pay 20% VAT on things like games, but it's usually included in prices shown, not added at the checkout like in the US.

Is it best to have a Black Wii U at the current price ordered when you phone them or not?

Thanks to all the replies in this thread I managed to get my June order price reinstated! Yesterday evening I sent a polite email to Amazon customer services, and their reply said to re-order at the current £299 price and then email them with the new order number for the price to be adjusted to £199.99, which they did very quickly.

I do hope everybody still trying receives the same offer (and that the orders dont get cancelled)
Big thumbs up for Amazon, since they really weren't obligated to honor the original price.
