I think it would be because the WiiU speculation threads attracted a lot of people. People signed up to discuss WiiU with all the other speculators.
It was a big reason why I signed up in the first place. Not the only one, but it was a big push.
Now I'm approved and a full member and I'm barely posting here.

All ready for some NintendoLand multiplayer.

I'm still having a hard time envisioning what a hypothetical Mario Galaxy 3 or Metroid Prime 3 will look like.
For the former I guess we can look at Ratchet & Clank or Banjo Nuts n' Bolts. The closest reference point I can think of for MP3 would be the E3 footage we saw for Halo 4.

I signed up over 3 months ago but wasn't able to post until a week ago. I went crazy and already amassed 300+ posts in less than a week.
Requirements for full membership is a 3+ month old account and 300+ posts. So... yeah.

Damn right. I mostly signed up because I really wanted to be part of the Hype Train. Buy I could only watch from a distance during E3. I also look into other threads but what I like from here is the cummunity-feel of this thread.
3 months+300 posts or sacrifice a console of your choice.

So is panorama view like a game, an ap or what? Was just looking over whats been showed and I have no idea what it is supposed to be besides moving the conroller around looking at things.
If the WiiU RAM Memory, if the 512MB requirement is indeed real, therefore I suspect nintendo may unlock some of that reserved memory, it is still very unlikely that the whole OS and all other features would take this massive amount of memory, and I expect nintendo's software to be well polished therefore optimized to be more efficient in resources, I do not expect any big problems by trivial software mistakes because of development negligence. My personal experience shows me that stability was often not an issue in nintendo's devices.
Unless these 512MB of "restricted memory" is a simple mistake of misquoting the storage memory, 512MB of storage reserved for OS is nothing to be concerned of, but 512MB RAM is a heck of a lot for a console. The fact remains, at most they may reach 200-250 MB of RAM if they pack in all the stuff they can think and what we know, except there is only one thing, the web browsing, if you are able to activate home menu from a suspended game, therefore
I have constructed a solution for that, quite easy, the suspended game could easily be saved onto the harddrive or flash memory into a specific file that stores raw data from memory, similarly to how hiberfil.sys works on Windows, therefore your suspended game is not taking any RAM at all while you can browse the menus and web, it will just take more time to get it suspended, and revived because all the memory would take time to write on flash or HDD. I hope nintendo have though of this. I have not yet though practical uses for this but I have thought of this idea some months ago I may have forgotten every details, I was not able to post on neogaf for over 1 year, I am unable to write down responses for everything that has passed these 6 months, but i do have a ton load of bookmarks from the speculation threads, this is another story i continued below.
For nintendo they must evaluate the real circumstances, until they will build their online systems finally, their extended features and the finalization with the OS, the final + reserve RAM requirements will be estimated, from there they will be able to evaluate how much can be okay to unlock.

Not to mention the fact some of the stuff may have been outdated, as well as the negative press, those were all outdated rumors, bs and april fools.
So, yes for the last 4 months I have been actively gathering the info, didn't had a clue before that, it was a pain in the butt, had to look all back to know what's going on, a lot of analysis, a month passed I finally understood this whole thing to be well enough for posting so I settled at http://thewiiu.com forums and posted there extensively for some time, It's very technical so can't mention all of it all at once don't even recall my self right now.
I just will summarize that I do agree with the GPU temporary add-in idea, and that the specs they are reporting are dev kits, it may be different in retail, devkits may change after release as well.
Second, the RAM was our most unknown variable and most important one, most of my efforts were on this, it is the most important factor that decides longevity of the device, all of the other components are good enough either way under than expected or above, they will be much more powerful than Wii and enable much greater first-party experience that I seek, however the lack or RAM may have cause great wastage of resources if it's bottlenecking the gaming experience.
Third, the specs leak has been purposelly constructed to conceal estimation of the device's performance, technically it is not very detailed, it may indicate some things, however it is practically useless. Most of the discussion is pointless on this, yet many of them do it, they are wasting time.
Fourth, not technical this time, .... excuse the writting, that is when i get overly excited, my grammar and english crumble down as i type fast, I want my F-Zero UX.
In conclusion I have actually created one photoshop for the super wiiu hype time that is now well over but still here's a look, sort of outdated by now, nothing special:

I think it more of a tech demo. Sorta motion control meets virtual space. Someone mentioned a while ago that the fluidity of the Panorama demo might not be achievable on current gen consoles but I have no idea if that is true.

Not gonna happen, first off, it's too expensive. Nintendo goes for the small purchases/no-name guys with talent and then builds up their market value, not the other way around (which sounds like Microsoft's way of doing things)
In fact Nintendo typically stays out of purchases altogether otherwise Next Level Games, Monster Games, skip and a few others would be theirs by now.
That said, Activision-Blizzard has some advantages, first off I think Nintendo is clueless regarding how to do network-optimized code for multiplayer online. Blizzard knows how to do that with a blindfold. Neversoft and Vicarious Visions are also good developers that are stuck in there and could enjoy a change of ownership, for sure. Treyarch is also very competent with porting; they could fill in for Silicon Knights kind of deals (Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes running on MGS2 engine)
And True Crime could be influent in forcing Rockstar to relent regarding GTA V.
It's a damn shame they killed of Bizarre Creations too, because that one was on sale and it was one of the purchases I felt Nintendo should have done.
Answering your question, I don't think buying that company would help, Nintendo gets bugged by third party's about "how hard it is to compete with Nintendo-quality products with third party shovelware from unrelated genres" already, they don't want to make a flickery argument into a true one; CoD canibalizes FPS genre sales after all, and being a third party product it is a case of success a lot of third party's are stupid enough to chase. If it was under Nintendo it would be like "they're too strong, better ignore their platform" from the get go.
Also wouldn't help the industry, as CoD is one of the most widely recognized franchises precisely because it's everywhere, being on a Nintendo platform would potentially devalue it, while Battlefield (for example) would continue being multiplat.
On top of that, western devs are really prejudiced against nintendo these days, the whole "we don't have the most raging platform out there" hurt even Retro-Studios ranks which is a case of success; there's no telling how many devs would quit when purchased by what is in their eyes their "casual" nemesis.
The company also seems plagued by financial problems and Nintendo won't have none of it.
At most I could see them buying some smaller studios out of them.

That's basically all it is, though you can press a button to switch to an alternate version of the video (the skydiving one had multiple angles I think, and the bus through London had both night and day videos). I think it *may* have a little Q&A thing at the end to see if you noticed a few things, but that's it in terms of "gameplay".

Ah, but if Nintendo released enough games they wouldn't *need* third parties. In fact when they released the Famicom, that was their plan, they didn't want anyone else making games for their console. Their console was for their own games only (and then when they did finally relent, they imposed severe restrictions on third-parties, which were eventually ruled illegal).

Ah. Thanks for the clarification guys. Just remember seeing a video of it and wasn't sure exactly what it was. I think the tech would be interesting to utilize in a game, although not sure how it would work. It's a shame it doesn't have any legimate gameplay. Still kinda neat I guess.

Things changed a lot since Yamauchi days. Nintendo needs third party's, otherwise every generation will be a uphill battle with lots of pressure from pretty much everybody (customers/retailers) like the wii was.
The reason for those rules was also deeply rooted on avoiding shovelware; the industry was coming out of a crash because of developers flooding the market after all.
Today Nintendo is probably the most easygoing developer when it comes to crap like that, otherwise they would have blocked Data Design Interactive shovelware (amongst others) on the wii, along with other devs products. There's no quality control on threshold on their part for third party games anymore allowing third party's to effectively dump games in there.
Sony enforces stuff like a late port having to have extra content, and I'm pretty sure ninjabread man and anubis II were blocked release in US as well, surely due to their lack of quality. Not saying it's right, because there's been some shit due to those rules (princess crown, tales of eternia and other tales of games, devil summoner and breath of fire III ports not coming out in US because they were ports sucked) to all kind of rulling there's gotta be exceptions after all. But I'd say the virtue is somewhere in the middle.
Nintendo needs to control more what comes out on their platforms. Not this kind of control though.
I think it's going to be preinstalled. That's just my prediction, though. Probably one map to show off proof-of-concept, and possibly $5 to download others. Maybe further DLC if it turns into something people enjoy. But no, it's not a game in the literal sense.
More predictions -- or just what I'd do if I were Nintendo. I'd kill off Game & Wario and fit it into NintendoLand. That arrow shooting game? Reskin it as Kid Icarus. The FindMii building thing? Use that with their old ass Hogan's Alley IP. The apple stealing thing I guess could be Wario themed. And that skiing game, put that into the Wii Sports U package that we all know is in the works (they've shown baseball and golf in 2011).
Otherwise all these mini-game collections appear to be their way to just nickel & dime us. Plus, the more that can be added to NintendoLand now and in the future as free DLC, the more appealing the game will be after a couple of weeks. That way if it is a retail disc (and I hope not), at least it can have legs if there's continual content additions.

Haha I know what you mean. I grew a pre-E3 callus on my index finger from smashing F5 repeatedly over the course of an entire month. I think, had I been able to post back then, I would have probably hit full membership in a day.
But now I'm back to normal. Playing Pikmin 2 to tide me over until the third game's release. I don't think I've ever wanted a sequel to anything this bad XD

There's been no new info that hasn't been said already (i.e more powerful).
You will most likely have to wait till launch when the console is torn apart to get any aggregate numbers.

Taking all that into consideration, it seems the Wii U GPU is going to be really power efficient yet pack a punch, kinda like......the......Gamecube.....
It can do better, so your expectations will be surpassed.

It would make sense for Nintendo to do this again. The Gamecube hardware basically served their needs for over 10 years. Money well spent.

This gen does not = all gens though, the GameCube actually had on par 3rd party support with the Xbox, and Nintendo just needs to push to get third party support which they said they are doing with the Wii U, with the Wii they said third party's will come, with the Wii U they said they will need to get the third party's to love them.
Also reliable people on Neogaf said if the Wii U doesn't get a multiplat game with the PS4/720 it won't have anything to do with power, it will be because of sales.
