Wii U Firmware Update is live everywhere. Everyone calm down.

Do you need a sensor bar or can you use the Wii U GamePads black strip thing at the top? For Wii games. Because how else would that work!?

a test to see if it worked

What sites are you guys uploading images to? Imgur just says it's "pending" forever, and I can't even get the upload button to work on Minus.

Make sure you've pressed X to have the curtain thingy, should show your saved image on top screen, then you can upload to minus and whatever.

I used http://abload.de

Don't need to do that, selecting browse on any image sharing website automatically picks the current game screen from TV or gamepad.

Very happy to have analogue sound with hdmi picture, finally. It means I can play Wii games in 60hz with sound. I haven't checked if they fixed the 50hz only over analogue video issue yet, maybe tomorrow.

Also, the gamepad had a sensor bar built in all along. Who knew?

The new TOS gives hope but don't expect it yet.

It's happening?

Well hey, that's nice (except for the may part... I feel uneasy about that...) but it's just a matter of WHEN.

My god, finally. This gives me hope.

The NID thing just gets more and more interesting...

It's fine if it takes a little bit, as long as they confirm it's coming, I'm all in.

This has been in there since the Wii U came out, only before it had an added statement at the end regarding "limitations on its use." Just don't get your hopes up.

Did some skimming over the new TOS (probably the first time in my entire life I've read even part of one of these fucking things) and it goes on about linking stuff to authorized "Nintendo Devices" or something. Interesting stuff. Hopefully someone smarter than me can look over it and see if they can pick anything else noteworthy out.

Would be interested to know this too. Also wondering if the Wii BC supports video over HDMI and audio over analogue.

See my post above. I compared it pretty closely with the old ToS and there isn't really much new.

Not sure if already mentioned but Club Nintendo is down for maintenance. Iwata preparing to drop the bomb in tomorrow's Direct?

Haha I doubt that. I didn't notice any difference, and there really not they could've done with it through the firmware.
Given what I've read about off tv play by those with discerning eyes, there is a degree of artifacting with the streamed video.

That is something that could be easily fixed through software. There's nothing they could do with the actual quality of the screen, but the software side can always be refined.

So let me get this straight. Are you guys going to stare at the Wii U gamepad while using Wiimotes? I guess it's a good thing I saved an SD TV for the Wii.

Devolution is working. Just had to revalidate my discs.
It's forcing 4:3 now, so I don't see a way to do widescreen anymore. No big deal, it was hacky anyways.

I think it's coming soon-ish because of this:
An option to disable use of a Nintendo Network ID on non-Nintendo hardware, such as PCs and smartphones
It's an interesting choice of words, don't you think?
I mean, they could've just said "WiiU"...

If this does mean an account system, I'm rewarding Nintendo with the following digital purchases:

- The Wonderful 101
- Wind Waker HD
- Mario & Luigi on 3DS

That's for starters. I'll also likely moving to all-digital, since I have a nice 1TB hard drive connected to the Wii U.

Make it happen, Nintendo. :D

I'll buy all my games from the e-Shop if it means an account system.

Or a classic controller, yeah. Which is pretty comfortable. Pad, CC, headphones on in the easy chair. Feels good, man.

Okay, so skimming through gbatemp it seems hacked vWiis still run HBC fine :) . Also seeing as the game pad has the sensor bar built in, it seems like this was the kind of capability that was intended day 1 launch, lol. It's kinda funny/sad it took them this long to get this far. Baby Mario steps, Baby Mario steps....all we need now is a damn VC update including some GC or Dreamcast(?) games :)
