Not sure if old?

It is.

I really hope for great 3rd party support. I have been let down by Gamecube and partly Wii (though, some of the best games this generation came out for that platform, though from 3rd parties), and I can never seem to get totally into Nintendo franchises. Anyway, I remain kind of optimistic toward Wii U and I'm excited to learn more about the platform. :)

Final devkits are out, and rumor has it they differ quite a bit from earlier kits. Supposedly more powerful than anticipated, too.

Sweet. All I'm asking for is an RV770 (Radeon HD 4850 or 4870) based GPU with 1.5 GB RAM

So what day is the Nintendo conference call?

Thursday the 26th JST, or evening on the 25th EST - around 9 PM or so. David Gibson (@gibbogame) should be livetweeting, though we'll have to wait until the 26th for the full English presentation transcript.

This is an investor briefing, not a gaming-media-targeted press conference, so keep your expectations reasonable (though some actual news probably will emerge).

Would have to imaging expectations would have been in line with the original leaked specs going all the way back to the french leak. Moment those hit people were already locking those in as final facts

Whoa it seems like in this page GAF started to explode in excitement. This conference isn't live-streamed right? If it is... I don't even know what will happen.

Factor in the extra L2 cache and eDRAM, and it becomes clear that main memory bandwidth isn't going to be a major bottleneck in such a system.
Excuse my ignorance here, but are you saying some small amount of EDRAM and L2 cache can provide such an improvement in speed just being used for a framebuffer and some often used textures that it can outdo 1.5G or so of faster main RAM?

I tried to get wsippel to post this, but he felt it was nothing more than what I had already posted. However I disagree because it was still more than what I got and very relevant IMO. So I'm linking this anyway wsippel. :P

New undies time!

Yep. That definitely seemed to be the consensus despite the fact that it's a normal process. But I will try to give some devs the benefit of the doubt in that they had their own projections of how the final hardware would perform and that those projection were surpassed.

That thread is a graveyard...

XD

^^ I'm not actually hyped at all. The best I expect is a Nintendo Direct video with a couple of tidbits, or a neat slip of information about their plans for Wii-U reveals in the runup to E3.

Was this quote posted from the Nintendo Network rumours?

Our source saw the article and wanted to make sure that people understood that he didn’t mean necessarily that Nintendo’s service will be better or feature every single detail that Sony and Microsoft do, rather that until now Nintendo hasn’t even tried to compete but now they are going to create a service that is in full competition with the others. But of course, each one will still have their own style. However, he had one other detail to add: “What I can add to all this is that there is in fact one feature that is significantly ahead of one of the competitors, and I’m not talking about the well know ability to video chat. A few users on another console will be quite upset.”

What does that make you guys think?

The only thing I can kinda think of is cross-game chat... or new clocks or something.

probably the new evolved form of the Friend Code.

Or a Swapnote-like app that can also interact with 3DS users.

Then we don't get to watch stuff like this again?! awhr
(From 2011 conference)

That was from a press conference, not an investor's conference. There's a difference.

Anyway, we'll get an official transcription of the conference within 24 hours of it's happening. There'll probably be a few short videos to go along with any news but don't expect any wacky promotional stuff.

I remember reading 5 pages full of text and graphs on the NCL investor website sometime last year, so I probably shouldn't get excited for this Thursday. Plus, I have 3 midterms and a lab all on that day. :(

The article is OBVIOUSLY talking about cross game chat and taking a jab at Sony who is "the one console" that will apparently be mad or something, lol. OMG TOP SEKRET GUYZ I CANT LEAK.

Oh haha thanks for clearing that up.
