Wii U Speculation Thread 2: Can't take anymore of this!!!

Off the top of my head:The 360 had some stuff that came out like a year later. Its actual performance was not all that amazing, however.

Ah, I see.

Anyways, that's a pretty good lineup. Nintendo could easily sway the dudebro crowd by marketing the right games, like Madden.

No, it should be no where near this bad on any of the three systems...

Ewww! What game is that?! :/

Really? Wow! That was a 360 launch game was it not? I hope that is not indicative of all of the game as that looks like they took an original XBox game and crapped it out for the 360 launch :/. If so, I will have to laugh if the Wii U gets similar complaints!

If I'm not mistaken the game looked half-assed because Rare didn't even have final 360 kits yet. Which, well, shows how much MS thought of them, I guess.

That's exactly what we'll get. PS3/360 games with higher resolution textures, higher resolution image output with better IQ and a higher framerate.

Off the top of my head:

Confirmed

Batman: AC
Metro Last Light
Darksiders 2
Pikmin 3
SSB4
Killer Freaks
Ghost Recon Online
Assassin's Creed
Tekken
Ninja Gaiden 3
Lego City Stories
DiRT
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Dragon Quest X

Resident Evil 6

Rumored or Likely
GTA5 (Via 01net)
Devil's Third
Homefront 2
Street Fighter vs Tekken

Can't say how I heard, but that's what I heard.
Not a big shocker, but it's something.

Ubisoft Montpellier is hiring 2d level artist .
The description in french reads like there are two projects, for next gen consoles and an AAA game.
Also ability to create cartoony textures.

...and/or that's what you get when you prematurely rush a console to market to steal a march on your competition i.e. Sony, as Nintendo is just kiddy so no threat to our hardcore console. Oh and you also get an inadequately tested piece of hardware that you have to pay a billion bucks out as compensation for as well!

:P

Take note Nintendo! *stern look*

Oh well, I enjoy laughing :).

It looked pretty bad then, but it has put them in a pretty damn good position right now.

Also, you have an awesome username.

I'm needing to hear a TON of positivity for Epic Mickey 2 before I bite. Epic Mickey was one the greatest gaming concepts ever that ended up being one of the most disappointing video games of all-time.

Though UPad support, if done right, could be awesome.

Epic Mickey has to be one of the most divisive games this gen. I personally loved it but i remember reading some of the online forums about this game and the venom poured on it by some people and the counter-venom poured on them by people defending the game....

Damm it was vicious.

I'm with you on that. I've been trying to convince the gf to finish it, but it's just so BORING. One fetch quest after another, and those side scrolling levels are few and far between (and short). I really hope the team have taken note of the criticism as it's a franchise I (and many others seemingly) really WANT to like.

If Wii U's rumored specs are true (Triple-Core 2.5GHz or higher CPU, tweaked mid-range HD4000-6000 GPU with modern shaders and a good tesselator, 1.5 GB GDDR5 RAM) do you guys think it'd be possible for it to smoothly run GTA4 and 5 with IQ identical or at least close to that of the ICEnhancer mod?

Activision giving support for a launch title... hm, does this coincide with the next COD? I'd have thought not, but I'm not sure. Could it be another franchise, or, *gasp* a new title?

The only Activision title I'd want is Fall of Cybertron, but that won't come I guess.

The Wii did get that horrible railshooter thing.

Nope. lol

As I suggested in post #5930 of this thread, it could be Call of Duty: Space Warfare, Call of Duty: Secret Warfare or the seemingly inevitable Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Another property that could be put to good use on Wii U could be, as suggested by others in this thread, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. It could utilize, for the related figurines used in-game, the Near Field Communication capabilities of the new console, mentioned at Nintendo's Corporate Management Policy Briefing on January 27, 2012.

While I doubt anything new will surface from it (and if so happens, it will probably be in a Q&A session), Activision Blizzard, Inc. intends to release its fourth quarter and calendar year 2011 results today and it will be available through a webcast. It starts 1:30 pm Pacific Time (4:30 pm Eastern Time): http://ir.activisionblizzard.com/events.cfm

It's anyway a fresh wind in this news drought. Probably not a strong wind though.

I would say it's going into that direction what we could expect from graphic side
BUT
doesnt matter how the final specs are (even if higher) it depends on what developers are willing to push it or not.
I think that in 2 or 3 years we could see something very close to that!!

I would be really excited if we heard that Insomniac's new title (Overstrike) was coming to the Wii U. We haven't seen much on it yet, but the vibe of the concept video was really fresh.

EDIT: also, I thought that Epic Mickey was a charming but ultimately un-compelling game.

Nope, but you can fit much much more data if the Wii U does have 1.5 GB. That would Man great things for GTAV

I think it could reach that point, if devs are willing to do it. Remember, a PC mod, needs far more power than a console does, for console games are optimized to handle what they get, and if a dev optimizes it correctly, you get games like GTA 5,the console Crysis (which didn't look that bad), or FarCry 3. And those are being done on consoles that run 6 year old hardware, have less than a gig of memory, and use in order CPUs.

Also, cores are not the most important aspect of a CPU's architecture. Rumors have it that the WiiU's CPU should have 32mb of eDRAM, which would trounce the Xenos, even if it's just a Tri-core with two-way SMTs.

call of duty at launch duh

If we do get a Call of Duty for the U (and I'd say it was to be expected seeing as the Wii has had most of them) I'm hoping that Treyarch are working on it rather than Infinity Ward. The former developers are much more talented than the latter. I'm not a fan of Infinity Ward at all tbh.

And it's looking like Pachter is wrong yet again about something, I seem to remember him saying a while ago that the U wouldn't get much third party support. Looking pretty good so far:

Lego City Stories
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Battlefield
Project C.A.R.S.
Batman Arkham City
Ninja Gaiden 3
Metro Last Light
Killer Freaks From Outta Space
Darksiders 2
Assassin's Creed
Ghost Recon Online
Dragon Quest X
Tekken

And those are just the games announced at E3 last year before got their Cold War style news blackout thing going on lol. I think it would be safe to assume that the likes of GTA V, Resident Evil 6, Call of Duty, Madden, FIFA, Pro Evo and Medal of Honour franchises are also on their way too. And just thought I'd better say that this isn't port begging to any mods out there, it's an opinion. ;o)

Pretty sure he meant when the ps4 and the 720 arrive on the scene.
