Yeah, but in Wii U's case we'd be looking at RV740 as "impressive". It won't go beyond that, and that was the max from the very beginning.

To me an R740 would be impressive in the Wii U's case only if it was a straight desktop part, which it isn't, and when was that going to be the max?

Well, it was wired in the firsts dev kits, but now it's definitively wireless.

Such a relief.

I wonder if I'd be able to switch between uPad #1 and uPad #2?

I play for ten hours with uPad #1, battery runs low, I plug-in (or DOCK! YES!) uPad #1, and grab uPad #2 for another 6-to-8 hours of gameplay before passing-out..

Has it already been mentioned that the likely value proposition Nintendo is trying to make is that for less than the cost of an iPad, you can get your kid a full videogame system that plays the latest games, gets out of the way when you want to watch TV, AND a tablet for playing downloadable touch based and traditional games?

Sounds like a good pitch for the "parents with kids - especially kids who your iPad" market.

Do you think the loading time will be longer for the Wii U?
Nintendo are always good at hiding loading times, but with bigger discs, HD, etc....

Well, considering the many times faster "blu ray" drive that they will use (compare to the ps3 one), perhaps the use of the flash (+ big memory pool) to fasten the loads + their wizardry & optimization for files recording and access, disc mastering and whatever to lower even more the loading & other things, i bet it won't be a problem. They have a reputation to maintain in this department :p

But...but Toronto ):
I still want a Fallout set in Toronto during the annexing of Canada..that would be so sweet.
I just wanted an excuse to post up my Fallout dreams.

As long as the archntectural character is there to support such a title, I'm all about it!
(but don't get me ranting about North America's cookie-cutter manmade landscape.. haha..)

There are a number of fine places in North America's city cores, but Europe's are so old and have such rich historical context.

I guess tha's a save bet.

nintendo loves them short loading times but even yamauchis souls can't work against the laws of physic....at least i hope so.

What happens to Guelph?
Err, uhh..iunno lol.
Never been.

Fair enough...I guess I really just want to see the CN Tower in ruins.

Fallout Toronto would be so goddamn glorious.
At least I'm not the only one that thinks so (;

Considering the latest devkits don't seem to be modular anymore, I think Nintendo knows what they'll use. And my money is on NiFi (WLAN with a custom transport protocol, no TCP/IP).

I just hope it eventually gets hacked so we can use the controller with PCs and other devices. From what I can gather about NiFi, it may require routers / WiFi cards with specially designed firmware. I don't know what would go into reverse-engineering the video codec, but that would obviously need to happen as well. I guess it's ultimately up to whether they have some crazy encryption going on. Another possibility would be using the USB port, assuming it's not just for charging.

I'd love a post-apocalyptic Fallout-like game in New Orleans.

The water pumps having no electricity have failed, and the ~75% of the city that's below sea level has limited access, much of it flooded. The remaining above-ground part of the city - home of the oldest, most historic buildings and landmarks, going back several hundred years - is essentially an island, and 98% of its inhabitants are dead or gone. Wldlife from the nearby swamp has begun to inherit-back what mankind once took, and the few humans that still live there are scavenging, farming, raising chickens, hunting, etc. But profiteer marauders from out of town want a piece of what's leftover..

It'll never happen. People are too damn sensitive, and there are plenty of bigger, better cities to use first.

Their "wizardry" is actually quite ingenious. They add the load times artificially to dev kits so that developers have to deal with them the same as players and work to shorten them.

No, not launch day. Maybe a week later, but not launch day.

I think a few weeks is going to be needed before one can walk into Best Buy and grab one off of the shelf. Especially if they let Reggie and the "Wii would like to play" geniuses go nuts with advertising.

The Wii's ad campaign has given me a healthy dose of confidence in NOA's abilities. I'm ready to see what they have cooked-up this time.

Wii would like to play.... With U.
Wii would like U to play...

The possibilities are endless!

Yeah i meant wizardry like that, ingenuity, cleverness, yadda yadda :) And it's better for us, i hate loading times.

There's no way they could "customize away" heat production without sacrifices, so that probably doesn't make as big of a difference as you think.

There's something in this article that is in total contradiction with an info that i've heard from my sources one month ago, still not revealed here.

Shocking.

No, I'm really shocked. Just one thing? lol

:)
I know that it is Sharp branded, but it has a built-in NES, so Nintendo did colaberate on the TV market before.

Whoa, that's crazy cool.

That's because the article is fiction. It's not just me saying that, the article says so itself.

It was a poor attempt to lead some people to scrutinize this guesstimate post for a particular information, and guess which is in contradiction with what i've heard we should see come E3 :)

I still can remember this post:

Wii U Can Stream to 4 Controllers

We reported some of the Wii U’s newly released specs yesterday and now it’s emerged that the Wii U can stream graphics to 4 controllers.

The main reason Nintendo might not encourage this use of the Wii U is the tablets are likely to be relatively expensive for as far as gaming controllers go. They will not want to be seen as promoting that to get full use out of the Wii U you’ll need to buy 4 controllers as it would put a lot of prospective customers off.

I believe ideaman also confirmed this 2 months ago

Some infos concerning the padlets

In a v4 dev kit context, with third-party involved, ports & titles using inhouse engines (not really tailored for the Wii U), the system hasn't the capacities to render 1 720p complex content on the TV, and 2 480p intricate scenes at the same time, with a good enough framerate. The "v5" dev kits won't change this situation. And i really don't think that with first-party, it will be a totally different outcome.

Now, 1 light 720p content (a ranking list, a 2D map, etc.) + 4 480 not ultra detailed with to-the-roof poly count titles, well, the hardware may handle that (i'm talking about rendering capabilities here, not streaming possibilities).

An obvious work-around would be to render at 240p with Vita-like upscaling.

I simply don't see any game coming out that uses more than two controller screens plus the TV.
Especially in thus day and age where local mutli is dying.

"We should learn that the CPU is a customized quad-core IBM processor..."

??

People under a certain age were never alive to experience the popularity of such joy. Well, not at the rate older folks did. It kinda blows my mind.

We're becoming an isolated social society. It's a very interesting phenomena.
We're all communicating with eachother, but not really interacting.

I'm a big, gigantic, huge fan of the single-player experience, but it is the direct human interaction that makes local multiplayer such a nice experience for me. The online anonymized experience isn't the least bit appealing.

Some day, it will be considered totally weird and dorky to invite friends over your house in general.
And yet, one of the first thing I said when we moved to this new place was.. "finally! A place worthy of entertaining!

Out of touch.. I am soo..
