Yeah I really think it means there's no way we're gonna see a 2D Mario on Wii U this year. The Mario game at E3 will probably be the next 3D one.
I think DECK'ARD's theory that NSMBMii will be a pack-in makes a lot of sense with the two games being released so close together.
Hey, look on the bright side. Soon, we'll have gotten NSMB out of the way for the generation.

The pressure Nintendo have been under in the last year seems to have accelerated the rate of his greying.
I think we'll see both! The 2D one could well be a pack in. Another reason this makes sense is the heavy Mii integration. It could be the standard included game to take advantage of your Miis.

I'm telling you guys unless the "quasi-multiplat" theory is true, then we're going to see a split in styles for Mario. 2D Mario on portables will look like NSMB, while consoles will have all new models which look super detailed while somehow harkening back more to the classic games.

Well, I'm thinking maybe they'll forget that "Super Mario World" was originally branded as "Super Mario Bros 4" in Japan, and "Super Mario 4" will somehow be a direct continuation of the "Old Super Mario Bros" series.
I liked it, but it creeped me out a bit. I think it was the eyes..

Exactly, they can call it whatever they want. Bring back the cape, Yoshi, and give me a coherent world structure, and I'm there day one.
Edit: And secret...tons of secrets. Imaginative stuff like the keys, feeding the baby yoshis, etc.

I hope NSMB Mii is based on NSMB2, it looks far better than the original and what we've seen of Mii.

Nintendo believe in 'ever green' titles that sell over the course of a generation, which is why there was no NSMB2 on DS or NSMB Wii 2. I think these two news games are the NSMB titles for the generation. So at least they're getting it out of the way early, right?
I think it's too soon for NSMB2 though. They're probably going to cut short the tail of 3D Land.

If they were smart enough to add folders to the 3DS (meaning they actually listened to demands) then they might just convince people at E3 with the Wii U.

I think they'll have a terrific first party line-up and some surprisingly solid third party support, especially from Japan. They'll also deliver at the very least a competent OS and online platform.

They did bring back Kid Icarus for 3DS.
In that case, I think they're getting it. I can't ask for much more, and if what you're predicting comes true (especially regarding Japanese support), I'm going to have my hands full keeping-up.
I'd love to be able to customize my own, umm.. desktop?
