Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

I also believe New Super Mario Bros. Mii will be the family friendly launch title that uses NN.

I agree with the others that think that Mario Mii isn't going to be a real thing, at least not in it's current form. Also, I wasn't aware we knew that a launch title would use NN. If that's true, I suspect it would be pikmin over Mario.

reasonable but still borders fanboy talk, they need to start advertising that the WiiU is getting some major 3rd Party support

I they just going to put WiiU versions of these trailers out themselves? IdeaMan is right these devs don't have the man power and money to build a WiiU version from the ground up so you cannot expect much more from a port visually especially new hardware that they are still getting to know

I think they're just going to wait until E3. We'll see if it works out for them or not...

Since most of Nintendo games don't need photorealistic graphics and fancy effects
and they pretty much nailed the 480i 60fps on Wii, shouldn't it be easy to archive the same with Wii U?
I mean...Nintendo games at 1080 60fps?

I can see why third parties sacrifice frames over resolution but I think N games would be just fine.

Of course it's just my opinion. I really don't know what it takes to archive that.

Is the order of the conferences at E3 always the same? I hope that they are the last one to present their stuff.

Not sure. I'd love if they went last, but I think the normal order is Microsoft on Monday, then Nintendo on Tuesday morning, to be followed by Sony.

Reminds me of political nomination conventions..

Perhaps the whole reason nintendo is prohibiting the use of the Wii U logo is because the system is so far away ahead of the current gen that using PS360 footage is wholly insufficient in properly conveying the graphical fortitude of their new console. [/deludedoptimist]

they're not showing the logo because they changed the name :O

They're also seeing opposition of the trademark Wii U in England, and they can't even continue action on it in the US, so it has probably something to do with that. I last week sent Gamasutra a lengthy article about these problems, hopefully they have a story ready later this week. I would have supplied it to Industry Gamers and MCV as well, but I couldn't find any appropriate e-mail address for it.

Man I remember the hype for Nintendo's conference, the other company conferences were so bad that people were pretty much relying on them to save E3.

This is the 2011 list
But all links link back to a post on that forum which will then provide a link to the source
Rumor Consolidation 2011

and this is the 2012 list so far
Rumor Consolidation 2012

p.s. There are 2 rumors sourced back to members of that forum
1 is to me, and the other is another member that I know in real life.
(I vetted both sources before posting them on here)

ouh good stuff we need more lists like this in these threads :)

thanks

This year Nintendo has the looming threat of Xbox Durango to take in consideration, and PlayStation 4 might be shown as well, or teased. Whatever the separate companies will bring to their media briefings at E3 come June, it'll sure to be a lot more exciting overall than last year as crunch time for the next generation is steadily approaching.

Let's be honest here, E3 2011 sucked on all sides

Most textures in games start off as huge, hand-drawn images. They then get shrunk down in resolution (and color depth) in order to fit into RAM. For Wii U, all they have to do is not shrink them down as much as the 360/PS3 textures. So just right there, you've got a major component of the port taken care of. It's a similar case with 3D models, where the source models are already higher quality than what ends up on PS3/360. The point is, they don't have to re-do everything from scratch for upgraded visuals.

Would have been better of Nintendo didn't failed the Wii U reveal, true.

Between Mister Caffeine and Show-Nothing-Konami...

Mister Caffeine wasn't very funny, but Ubis conference was AWESOME

They were like 'Hello, we're Ubisoft GAMES GAMES GAMES GAMES GAMES '

BY2K: also known as really small E3 (I think it was 2008)

I think I remember a few games where 360 was better than PS3 version "Red Dead?"

Even after you explained all of that could we ever have a port that looks worst on WiiU I wonder how something like that could happen

At the very least, we can expect a solid amount of content from Nintendo this year.

Considering the influx of rumors and leaks, I'd be surprised if we don't see 720 or PS4 this year. What else would MS and Sony show at their conference? I suppose Sony could save the Vita, but is MS really just going to give us 60 minutes of Kinect nonsense again?

you're forgetting the obligatory 15 minute call of duty demo at the MS conference

I keep forgetting that they might show things that are early on and two years away for WiiU

but I am hoping they will stick with Launch/Launch Window titles

my big want is still GTA V

I guess Pikmin could have an online feature, but Mario, with online multiplayer and voice chat, would make a bigger splash with the masses.

they left the convention center for a year or so to make it smaller and less public, was that not when we all thought E3 was gone
The ESA made the decision to in 2007 reformat E3 to the E3 Media & Business Summit, to provide a more "intimate" show. This strategy backfired in 2008 when E3 resembled more or less a ghost town. It returned in full glory the year after.

someone must have gotten fired over that because they must have lost a shit ton of money that year - I mean the big companies still paid up but the booth sizes were not the same

It was the worst E3 for me, by far.

Either you guys are insane or you haven't seen too many E3's. Wii Music a-ringin'-a-bell?

WiiU's first E3 could undoubtedly have been much better, but at least we got quite a bit of info. We got two enticing tech demo's, some interesting concepts etc.
