Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

Over 1.5 million? On Wii U alone in the first year? Dude, I think they'll be ecstatic if they crack 1mil.

No, during its life cycle.
no matter what, the game will be old when the system launches.
If they promote the shit out of it, I can see it doing great the first year
but 1.5 it's the max I'm expecting for it

Just read the last few pages.....
For the love of sanity Nintendo give these poor souls some news so
that they may end there ceaseless suffering in the bowels of madness
and return to the eternal darkness.

NOBODY HYPED FOR ROAD TO E3 YET

holy SHIT

the controller has a separate dev kit?

The controller development & new shipping to third-parties is not linked to the console dev kits.

It's named DRC (Display Remote Controller) as said before, and they can change without being delivered with a new dev kit. Well, it was the same with some previous systems (for which you can track the different versions of controller prototypes in google images for example), but we could have thought it would be different with the Wii U, being so heavily focused on the padlet.

I think mid to late August is an ideal time to launch. The longer they wait, more crowded the lineup will be. There is undoubtedly going to be enough momentum to sustain them through the second half of the year provided they have some 1st party games ready. If they launch with:

NG3: RE
Darksiders 2
Lego City Stories
Batman: AC
Some shit rabids game
Killer Freaks
1-2 1st party titles
2-3 Shovelware titles
1-2 unknown 3rd party titles of decent quality

it'll be pretty substantial, especially if those ports are of high quality.

Have you guys seen this yet:

Little is known about the Wii U version of Batman: Arkham City. In fact, all we know is that it exists.

There are those that know much more about the game, however. For example, Epic Games' Mark Rein has seen the game running on Nintendo's next console. Speaking at Game Developers Conference, Rein noted that the Unreal Engine-powered game won't be a straight port of the PC/PS3/Xbox 360 game.

After a quick video showing off the Wii U version of Batman: Arkham City and Aliens: Colonial Marines, Rein said that the Wii U version of the game makes "fantastic use of the touch controller." Unfortunately, he wouldn't elaborate on exactly how Arkham City would make use of touch controls. Batman's arsenal of gadgets certainly invites touch-screen adaptation.

Last time the Wii U version of the game was mentioned, Rocksteady vaguely teased that the Wii U version of the game would "play to the strengths of the console."

I'm sorry but did we read the same article about Rein ?

Ok, it's better that some of his last statements, but nothing to jump in the heavens and believe the Wii U will be the ultra-powerhouse some expect. On the contrary, the "parent" comments is annoying, i'm sure he would have not said that for the other next gen platforms.

Considering Crytek are with EA again, and EA are pushing the Wii U harder than the school bully into a pile of dog poop, I'd consider it a shoe-in for Wii U.

they're already pre-shaping their excuses for not making games for wii u.

If these comments came from Cliffy, like they always do, no one would bat an eye.
But Mark's usual take on Nintendo is that they suck.
So this is a fairly positive sign.

you can't change your feathers over night :)

how many WiiUs can be sold by December 31st?

that is what I would like to see guesses on, anyone?

Much depends on its launch prize.

If it's decently prized and with at least a couple good games they may take a good headstart, and as far as I'm concerned it may be a day-one purchase for me
unless I end up being utterly broken by then

Remember the One to Infinity campaign?

1| Miyamoto new IP
2| Mirror's Egde 2
3| Half Life 3
4| Mother IV
5| GTAV
6| Resident Evil 6
7| FFVII HD
8| Mario Kart 8
9| Call of Duty 9
10| Metroid 10
∞| Bioshock Infinite

This is it, all 'eleven' titles published by Nintendo as they'll be exclusive to the system.

This is the way the industry ends.

There is a less than 0% chance of that happening.

Man I'm so conflicted when it comes to the price. I think $300 is the best price...but I also want the hardware to be relatively beefy. I also don't think it'd be great if they took something like a $100 loss. $350 is probably the best compromise but it's a tad high. Blech.

they're already pre-shaping their excuses for not making games for wii u.

Yeah... but given that the only game ever published on a Nintendo platform based on an Epic property is the (outsourced, not published by Epic) GBA Jazz Jackrabbit game, I wouldn't think Epic thinking little of Nintendo systems would be anything new, sadly.

If the article is real, then Lego City Stories is definitely one of the 4 games (its published by Nintendo) coming out by the end of this year for Wii U. The question is what are the other 3.

It's a good sign that Mark Rein is saying nice things about Nintendo, but he sounds so forced and insincere in that article. Like he's trying to pretend to be a big Nintendo fan.

I'm interested as to what Arkham City will be like. I already presume that we'll have a clearer HUD, and the graphics will probably receive a small boost, but what else?
