Holy hell, it seems like gaf is getting worse day by day. I'm not talking specifically about this thread, it just feels like people are pent up and are really friggin jaded. Next gen needs to get here asap so people can stop bitching about everything and just enjoy video games again.

I dunno. I feel like console gaming is in a huge rut right now, mostly because the hardware is absolutely ancient. I'm not one to argue that better visuals = better games but they sure as hell get people excited.
If MS makes the fatal flaw of not showing anything for xbox3 this year, I think a lot of gamers are going to run to the wii u en mass out of shear desperation. Of course that enthusiasm may be fleeting if nintendo doesn't maintain momentum.
I'm playing Skyward Sword right now (in 720p though I do own the game, it just looks better in dolphin), Tribes Ascend, and after I finish Skyward Sword, I'll be playing Mass Effect 3 and Xenoblade. I'm enjoying the hell out of gaming, but I still want next gen to hurry up, mostly because I'm playing everything on my PC.

Most people don't realize how much media has manipulated them. If you like high end gadgets - no problem with that; but don't repeat every shit I can read on Apple's page (for example) and act like you have an idea of what you're talking about.
I'm kind of in a gaming rut. I just can't focus on a big console game anymore. Handheld's pick up and play nature just appeals to me for some reason.
This is why I hope Wii U's controller will allow sleep mode.

This could happen either way if a game like GTA5 comes to PS360U, that game should be out around this time next year, that is before we expect the nextbox, so people will see that game on Wii U and just have to buy it. our consoles are old, and in a year they will be that much older, I've already stated I play most of my games on the PC, I'll play smash on my Wii, Mariokart on there too, but when it comes to the bread and butter of the PS360 (of which I have them both) I can't be bothered to play the console versions.

All Mark is trying to do is goad multi billion dollar companies into losing their shirts again over the console power, simply because he's uncreative and has a middleware engine that he wants to sell without having to make any concessions.
I still think people will be too close minded about adopting Nintendo technology + migrating from Xbox Live/SEN. How can Nintendo provide enough of an incentive for gamers to migrate just because of the slightly better graphics in GTAV?
Again, unless NiN has a killer feature, it's going to be a hard fight.

Ultimately it wont be up to the hardcore gamer. Plenty of hardcore gamers are nintendo fans anyway. If nintendo can win over the mass market and bring 3rd party support in tow, they'll win over a large chunk of the naysayers. There will always be people though who hate this or that console and company for whatever reason, but they really don't matter. If nintendo can get families to start adopting the wii u like they did the wii and kinect before it, everything will snowball from there.

/trollfaceSEN is hardly a killer feature, as long as NiN can be comparable to it, then they will be fine. A lot of people btw don't want to buy the next Xbox because of subscriptions, my friend bought a ps3 because he was sick of paying for gold just to watch Netflix in his living room.
Games bring you your market, and Nintendo's console will have the strongest library of games, that pretty much going to happen unless third parties have lost the will to make money.

These articles about "2GB of RAM isn't enough!" and "iPAD will replace consoles!" sounds like developers whining because the Durango isn't the beast they hoped it would be.
Why would families be interested in a tablet controller? It really isn't as large an innovation as motion controllers were.
I guess it really is up to Nintendo to think and implement innovative ideas on how to use the controller and demonstrate this to the average consumer at E3.
If that's the case I hope Sony is listening.

So they can dig themselves an early grave? If Sony isn't profitable within the first 2 years of their next console, things are going to get scary grim for their video games division.
Especially if the vita remains a flop in Japan.
