It's interesting to follow all the buzz but I am really loving my PC too much at the moment to contemplate buying a console again.
Pretty much the same, even more so since Sony started porting their games to PC.

Still interested to see what comes out of this. Devs being able to focus on a more powerful console could be great for multiplatform titles on PC.

People calmly waiting for the PS5 Pro pre-order to go live.

In my opinion, pre-orders will not go live today. They will need a firm release date and Sony will not have it. No date, no price today. The title of the video is PS5 Technical Showcase, like come on people. If you expect anything more than what Cerny showed with the PS5 tech talk in early 2020, you'll have only yourself to blame.
Sony will take whatever feedback today to inform their decisions regarding the release date and price range of the Pro. Oh, and they might wait to clear the Switch 2 reveal situation before they lock themselves in.
For the PS5 the preorders went live on the 17th of September.

I get that some people are content with how games are running on PS5, but what I don't understand is how you can't see what "purpose" it fullfills. How many times does this need to be explained to you guys and how many examples of games that are struggling to maintain good image quality do you need to hear about? Just this past month we've had 3 games that have big concessions on the consoles.

Purpose #1 Better image quality through a better upscaling solution. Forget 60 fps with a decent resolution, they are soft and artifacty even in 30 fps fidelity mode! FSR2 upscaling has proven to be a failure coupled with these consoles at anything lower than 1440p native- but we're seeing 720p-1080p base res which is way worse. We had better iq last gen on the Pro/SX than we have this gen. The lack of machine learning has been an area of weakness.

2. Ray Tracing-4x greater RT performance would be a big deal as we've seen hints of what RT can do in games like Avatar, Spiderman 2, and SW Outlaws. As good as those games are in RT, none of them hold a candle to what we're seeing id possible on PC with higher res reflections and a suite of RT features instead of getting just RT reflections or RT gi. On console Cyberpunk 2077 is a shadow of the PC version with its Gi/shadows/reflections/ao. I want to be able to play Cyberpunk and other games and get THAT experience.

Also, NO SHIT the Pro will be obsolete in 3-4 years when the PS6 comes out! You talk like 3-4 years isn't a long time from now ...the gap between PC and console is going to be SEVERE if theres no refresh.
This is going to be a marginal upgrade at best, not like you're getting a 4090 here. Besides, the vast majority of titles released have been cross-gen. Sony can't even produce enough games strictly for its current generation.

Have you checked the price for 4090 vs. rumored PS5 Pro?
I didnt mean that the PS5 Pro will be shit. Im sure it will deliver good performance for its price. What I meant is that I have a machine that, albeit more expensive, also brings even more performance. And since most PS5 titles come to PC I just dont need it anymore. Playing FF16 on PS5 was also kinda shit. The performance was not so great. :(

Most likely, I will pick this up when GTA 6 is out. Currently playing Space Marines 2 at 4K native with over 60 fps/max settings. Just beat Black myth Wukong which also run at 4K/100 fps max settings.

The pro isn't touching my pc so I don't see the point and Sony is struggling to get big first party games out this Gen.

Really hope they at least announce some new first party titles before the end of the year.

No vote but nope to preorder, I've got my PS5, so I'm not missing out on any games - just a bit of fidelity.

I'll wait for a sale or for backwards compatibility with PS5 Pro enhancements on the PS6.

What are we here? An audience with an average age of 14 and a half?

Nope. Pays to wait.

And Switch is priority with way more to gain.

Unless Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy 17 are suddenly immediate. Which they aren't.

I had a ps4 pro and enjoyed the advantages, so I'll do the same and try and purchase a ps5 pro..

800€ for a digital only console?
Hard pass. I´ll just put that money towards an RTX 5xxx generation GPU which will run circles around the Pro.
