I get that some people are content with how games are running on PS5, but what I don't understand is how you can't see what "purpose" it fullfills. How many times does this need to be explained to you guys and how many examples of games that are struggling to maintain good image quality do you need to hear about? Just this past month we've had 3 games that have big concessions on the consoles.
Purpose #1 Better image quality through a better upscaling solution. Forget 60 fps with a decent resolution, they are soft and artifacty even in 30 fps fidelity mode! FSR2 upscaling has proven to be a failure coupled with these consoles at anything lower than 1440p native- but we're seeing 720p-1080p base res which is way worse. We had better iq last gen on the Pro/SX than we have this gen. The lack of machine learning has been an area of weakness.
2. Ray Tracing-4x greater RT performance would be a big deal as we've seen hints of what RT can do in games like Avatar, Spiderman 2, and SW Outlaws. As good as those games are in RT, none of them hold a candle to what we're seeing id possible on PC with higher res reflections and a suite of RT features instead of getting just RT reflections or RT gi. On console Cyberpunk 2077 is a shadow of the PC version with its Gi/shadows/reflections/ao. I want to be able to play Cyberpunk and other games and get THAT experience.
Also, NO SHIT the Pro will be obsolete in 3-4 years when the PS6 comes out! You talk like 3-4 years isn't a long time from now ...the gap between PC and console is going to be SEVERE if theres no refresh.
