Will Smith slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars

Ah what? You must not have watched any comedy special before 2010. You can and people do make fun of faith all the time.

Sorry alopecia isn't a huge life ruining disease. Agree that kids are off limits but spouse's (especially if they are entertainers too) are absolutely open to jokes.
You are always free to make joke and attack people based on those 3 points i mentioned above

However i cant be responsible or predict what will he do next or predict how people will react to your joke

You can tell that to the decapitated comedian comic from france
Obviously it's the comedian's fault for making the joke and not of the guy that frikkin' decapitated him...

Tbh if I had to spend time with Jada on a daily basis I'd probably go around slapping people too. She seems like a deeply unpleasant person to be around and has turned Will into a laughing stock the past couple years.

Yeah, none of those were from last night, this is mostly compiled from different years, Ryan Gosling is a dead giveaway, as that is his reaction from like 2017 or smth...
Even if it’s fake, Mel Gibson’s almost PTSD like reaction to it is kind of perfect.

What im tellling you is if youre making a joke using those 3 points above youre inciting potential danger on yourself

Like i said i cant tell how people will react cos different people have diferent reaction to your joke

Im telling you this because in the past i have experience similar experience with Chris Rock
( getting smacked in the face) for joking about my friends relatives ilnesess

And thats prob not even the worst, potential incoming lawsuit and stuff like that could be more troublesome

I've been thinking today how crazy this whole situation is. We live in an emancipated society, Jada Pinkett-Smith is a successful, independent, intelligent woman. Why the hell is there any onus on Will to do anything when there is a joke about her? Why can't she just stand up for herself and come up with some witty repartee, just tell CR he's got a tiny dick or something, problem solved. The whole "Will has to defend her" chivalry angle makes the rather condescending assumption that she isn't able to herself. Most girls I know can dish 'em out verbally whenever shit gets talked about them. No need for violence at all. Everyone is debating what Will should have done. He shouldn't have done anything, Jada should fend for herself.
Because it’s not about jada .. it’s about Will. It was just the straw that broke the camels back. Don’t get me wrong though .. he made this situation himself. He knows it but can’t live with the publicity of it all.

He won't. Chris Rock isn't pressing charges.
To be clear. Technically the police can actually charge him without the victim pushing for charges. But in this case it’s a slap to the face that barely fazed the guy, it’s not worth anyone’s time.

And frankly Chris Rock‘s probably thinking: ‘This is the best thing that ever happened to me’.

Alopecia isn't the same as male pattern baldness. It's an autoimmune disease.
i dont think that is correct.. it is the same as male pattern baldness... as in Lebron James has alopecia just like Jada does.. However, because of beauty standards, I think its a more sensitive issue for women
as for Will Smith.. any good will he had was thrown out the window after he was caught laughing at the joke at first..

“Aww, it’s so...average,” she said to him in a cold brick of passion

Basically. It's crazy to me that people on the internet care more about this than the two people who were actually involved in it.

Celebrity culture and people's obsession with discussing and debating their drama is one of the worst things to happen to modern society.

That said... I find it odd and interesting that folks are calling Will Smith a psychopath when he hasn't been anything ANYWHERE like that before. Did anyone say that about any other actor that got into a more involved fight? The dude who plays Homelander? Crowe? Farrell?

He broke character this one time ... have any of you? Like you get fed up and lose your cool?

Will SHOULD have told Rock off... There's a lot of nuance in the whole conversation of the dynamics of what went on that I don't think will be receptive here but ...

If anyone takes away his Oscar, then they should do the same with Weinstein and the kiddy rapist that moved to France instead of facing legal justice here in America (can't remember his name right now).
alopecia just means hair loss/baldness. but you are right that male pattern baldness is not the same form of alopecia as hers.

Its not about celebrity culture, really. If someone in the audience got up in the middle of a comedy show and smacked the comic in the face people would be talking about that too. And this was the Oscars, the epitome of stuffy, overdone rich people horse shit.

It's a bizarre, fascinating thing.

Twitter suspended Will Smith's account.
What the fuck?

With all rapists, women beaters, etc in Hollywood this is the person to go after?

Even Trump had his account until 2021 lmao.

What a fucking joke!
That's what narcissism looks like. Twitter mods and their chairboard feels they have the divine right to judge peoples lives even when things happen outside its website.

Social media is the worst. Everything has to be some referendum on social issues. There's not enough attention in the world for some people.

Looks like Toons was right pages back, Rock and Will and Jada have some history with Chris Rock cracking jokes about them for years. Nothing really hardcore, but he slung some zingers at them.

Depends who it is.

I think social media is awesome. I got a FB for fam and friends, Linkedin for careers, and nothing for any other site. Instead, I just laugh at others making idiots of themselves on Twitter and Tik Tok.

If it wasnt for Chris Rock and Will Smith, nobody would had remembered the Oscars were last night.

Its just fucking hair, yes it sucks that you are losing it all but you got the money for the best wigs out there if it bothers you so much.

Smiths attack was clearly fueled by something else, probably his sons girlfriend having a lesbian affair with Jada or something.

If someone is making my wife feel more uncomfortable than she already was having alopecia, I'd either go up to the guy and tell him to stop... If he didn't, I'd slap him.

Slap.

Not beat him to the ground. Not kill him. Slap.

Okay, but now you're giving him permission to beat you to the ground.

Its a difference between YOU getting made fun of and someone you love being made fun of.

Also, this ain't a roast session.

Yes it is. Wtf are you talking about?

Ricky Gervais roasted the living shit out of everyone at the Golden Globes. Mercilessly to great success.

I just read the first few lines... how the fuck did these idiots turned this into a racial white supremacist argument ?!!
That was a black comedian joking to a balding black lady that she looks like a cool female action hero from a movie. It's almost like a compliment. Nothing racial or anti woke about any o this.

and btw -she is not ashamed of the "disease". She is proud about it and said it is a laughing matter on twitter. I even checked out few interviews

Then Will goes slapping white knighting lol. All it did was made HER look even worse. She is well able to defend herself.
Not that there was any need to defend. If she didn't like the joke, they could've discussed it after the show.
She is not a victim. Nobody is looking at her and laughing about her baldness. cmon.

why is resetera making a big deal about this?

especially the mods?
It's the same tired old fucks that get upset about everything. Alot of "look at all the sunglasses wearing dudes on twitter making comments" and then immediately attacking white people on resetera like they had anything to do with this.

Mods will "ask" a question in these threads to ban people. Neophyte or whatever her name is continues to attack anyone out of line. It's pathetic. Absolutely no out of the box thinking. It's gotten worse over the last year.

I don't think Will Smith's account was suspended because of the incident. I'd hope not. There are currently users on that site who've done way worse who still have accounts. Including celebrities.

Fucking hell.

This is the problem with "the discourse" you have to have an opinion on whatever the subject of the day is. It can't just be "I dunno, man"
The problem with internet places like Resetera is that the owners or mods have made an opinion.
and nobody else is able to discuss the topics in any other way. They have their minds set.
There is no freedom of speech, freedom of discourse. Just cancelling, bans and and executions with no recourse. Even the worst criminals can stand up for themselves. but nobody can on the internet.
Lol you say a wrong word on twitch when a girl streamer is on the screen? banned and done. Even if you were nice

No doubt. Considering she has no interest in wigs, it sure seems she likes showing off her scalp like she's buddies with Right Said Fred.

I never knew he and Jada had such a weird on and off relationship. I thought they were happily married for ages. Then reading about it due to this incident, they've been on and off separating(?) and that young rapper guy starting boinking Jada Pinkett, and it seemed Will Smith was ok with it. And now they are back together? I skimmed the articles so I don't know how accurate I am.

I guess it was a real incident going by what everyone is saying, but sure seemed staged. Will Smith laughing at the joke one second and then storming the stage like he's Galactic Defender of the World the next second seemed odd.

Just to show how funny the joke was, everyone was laughing at it. At least with Ricky Gervais, many of his jokes teetered on the crowd gasping in embarassment. So if Chris Rock is going to get grilled for a joke about someone's bald head, people shouldn't forget the rest of Jada Pinkett's peers were laughing at it too. All 1000 people in the auditorium. I didn't hear any gasps like a Gervais joke.

Assuming this is all real, it seems that Will Smith and Jada Pinkett have been a hollywood disaster last bunch of years (I never realized it since I dont keep up with them), and what happened is Will Smith finally had enough. Instead of talking about behind the stage, or trying to cancel culture Chris Rock on Twitter after the show telling a bad joke about that disease, he had to show the world like he's not a wimp, but uber manly with fists flying. This is the type of juvenile shit you do at recess. It might be important in grade school so everyone knows which guy is the strongest, but when you got a couple 50 year old Hollywood stars clowning around, it's like these people just time warped to when they were in grade 6.

The asshead really thinks his hollywood life is like Fresh Prince with people scrapping in playgrounds.

Lol, when people were saying this was generating a lot of drama on RE I was going to jokingly ask "who do they think was in the wrong and how are white people at fault?".
And then lo and behold, just one paragraph in they are already making it about race and evil white people

Excuse Me Reaction GIF by One Chicago
It's because some of the mods over there think they have more in common with people like fucking Will and Jada Smith than they do with the other nerds on Era solely because of the color of their skin. It's insanity.

I didn't bother checking Reee.

I don't see how it can even be a white dude issue. Chris Rock, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett are all black.

with the recent dismal ratings at the academy awards i wouldn’t be surprised if this was all a pre planned publicity stunt. these are all actors after all, their existence is to sell fake goods (movie lover that i am).
