It has gotten so bad over there that WE now have a better rep for intellegent Next-gen console discussions than they do...

I hate those 0pa age trolls with a passion.....they are ruining a great forum....

The mods will be around soon. Hopefully a mass banning will occur.... I mean seriously, it's fucking rediculous.....
 
Same thing happened to the AVS gaming section. It used to be HT guys discussing games but lately there's been lots of trolling coming through.

They already shut down console forum at B3D once, when it got bad. It's even worse now than it ever was. I don't even visit there anymore.

So who are you speaking for when you say "they"?

Not even close bro - there many more technically informed people over there then here..no comparison. Not knocking GAF at all but they are more hardcore with specs and disecting hardware there then here..you'd have to be blind not to see this lol
 
Of course GAF is no match for B3D when it comes to tech talk but if you read some of the more recent threads over there you will see some posters comment that GAF is a better place to talk about next-gen console tech (less trolls, more civil)

That is what I was trying to say...
 
GAF of maybe a year or so go , but GAF has been on a bit of a downward plumet for quite a while. IMO of course.

It's going to be like this for another 12-18 months or so. System transistions absolutely bring out the worst. Once some equilibrium in the marketplace is reached, that is we know how the systems are doing and how they're positioned and once the games take center stage again, we'll be in better shape.

It's going to be a looong time though.
 
It's the best place I've found for tech discussion, so I'd be devastated if they closed it again.

I've been going to B3D for years, and the console forum always have beem a sesspool, the ghetto of the B3D forums if you will. It's just that the 0pa hoard just happens to fit right in.
 
OMG, just browsed gofreak's post of the Edge stuff over at B3D and the sight of O.p.a. of all people calling someone a troll was enough to open a small blackhole over my laptop!!! :lol

I can't believe he's even been allowed to register over there.
 
I think if you want to try an do anything about the mess at B3D now, PM the mods and try and make them aware of what's happening, because I don't think they are. I don't think they know anything about *** and his cohorts. AFAIK, *** is still not banned (and he had been warned multiple times previous to this).

The sorry situation is that while a relatively civil (if sometimes heated) discussion can take place entertaining "X360>PS3" theories and musings there, when the shoe is on the other foot - or to be more specific, if a dev says the opposite - it brings out the (insecure) hordes that have been lurking and watching B3D since E3. They simply want to so disrupt any such conversation to such an extent as to make it not worthwhile - and they'd be perfectly happy for such comments not to be disseminated. And they achieved their goal here. Let's face it, those comments weren't even "final judgements" or anything of the sort. God help B3D if and when devs start making conclusive remarks about relative power and their comments favour the "wrong" system..

This has to be one of the most ridiculous and ill-informed posts ever. Anyone that posts or reads the B3D console forum can tell it's trolling heaven for those looking to downplay anything relating to PS3. The fact that jvd is a mod doesn't help matters either.

People are always jealous of the person at the top. If MS somehow captures significant marketshare next gen and becomes the clear next gen leader we will see more anti MS people come out of the woodwork. Although I really don't see it happening. Love or hate Sony, they truly have given gamers the best consecutive 10 year span of great games over a multiple generations. MS may take more share this coming generation but I still see Sony handily defeating the competition. Barring some huge mistakes.

They need to change the mods and ban a bunch of people. But in this transitional time (really gonna last another couple of years), any thread advocating a position will inevitably be reduced to ruin. It's the nature of the beast. And IMO, B3D was much worse 5 years ago. I mean, there are notorious trolls there as there are here. I do think tighter clamps need to be set though. Locking every goddamn thread without a single banning is absolutely pointless. I don't think the current modding staff is getting it done at all. Something's gotta give, otherwise that forum will just be GAF-redux come November...which it was for a few years IMO.

Oh, and for the record, reirom is registered there. Hell, Deadmeat was registered there for a long time, and he's nothing but a troublemaker. In the effort to bring balance to the force, some trolls are given too much leniency. I think any forum you go to will be inherently pro-Sony. It's the nature of the beast when one manufacturer owns 60-70% of the market. It doesn't mean legit discussion can't take place without allowing trolling. But that's my beef. I've been registered there a while, and lurked even longer, and never got the motivation to post until earlier this year. But a lot has changed just in the last 4 months or so. Not for the better. :( PEACE.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last breath of B3D's console forum. I've been lurking there for a few years, but the last few weeks have definately risen to a new level of shittiness. For the last year or so it already seemed like the asshats had driven away the developers who would be kind enough to post a nugget or two about really goes on in making Xbox/GC/PS2 games.

I haven't been following the stuffs there for quite a while already, but the problems with the forum before and after the shutdown were not too different AFAIK, but I am certainly not talking about some new problems, the old problems are bad enough.
 
I've never visited the place...though I know that I'd love it. Honestly, I've always thought that I came up with the concepts used in IBL and HDR...if I posted there I wouldn't have felt like a dumbass explaining my ideas to my graphic guru friend and have him say "It's already been done...for years, just not in consumer games". :P
 
The trolls are here too. Usually the admins are trolling (Drinky Crow anyone?), this is ridiculous.
