Sad to see Serena lose early but Alize Cornet is fine

third fifth setter in a row for janowicz. if he wins surely he has no chance against federer.

who am i kidding, federer would lose in five because my life is awful.

Honestly now, the really old players (Serena, Venus, Li) losing early and the young guns (Genie, Keys, Bencic, Diyas) making good progress is an obvious sign of a generation change imo.

Ana was complaining big time.

Ms Ajde desperately wanted the match to be suspended. Sabine has all the momentum and she wants advice from her camp. Hilarious that whenever they finished a game she rushed to the bench to wear her jacket trying to force the organizers to stop it. lol

They should stop the matches when Hawk-eye stops to function due to no sufficient light. Crazy that they didn't stop last night's match with Berdych.

Where's the Serena match highlights. The ATP\WTA continue to suck in providing highlights in a timely manner.

I always wondered is that Alize's real nose?

Did she break it as a kid or have surgery to thin it?

I always wondered this as well. I really hope its not operated for aesthetic purposes because that makes her look bad. She would be quite pretty with a different nose.

The FO winners' Lisicki curse will prevail. It is known.

NOOO. ;-; Dont you remind me of that. I have faith that Maria will end this curse this year.

Supposedly once the server gets to the baseline in preparation to serve, he/she can stay there as long as they want. The "clock" is supposed to stop once they get to the line to serve. clock starts immediately after the last point is over, and ends once the server gets to the line to serve. So Djokovic should be able to bounce the ball as long as he wants so long as he has his feet set to serve.

Just catching up on this thread and wanted to point out that this isn't accurate.

According to the Official Grand Slam Rule Book:
A maximum of twenty (20) seconds shall elapse from the moment the ball goes out of play at the end of the point until the time the ball is struck for the first serve of the next point. If such serve is a fault then the second serve must be struck by the server without delay.

I'm all for time violation rules and that 20 secs is a pretty fair amount of time between an "average" point at the pro level. That being said, I think that there are circumstances where it would be reasonable to give players some leeway (eg. unusually long points, a fan yelling out right before serve, etc.) I think the rule should be revised to allow for exceptions and should set out a cap on the additional time umps can extend by. Something like that, anyway.

These discussions are lame. I really don't care if a player needs 60 seconds to prepare his serve, as long as I see amazing matches I'm fine with it.

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I do agree that all of the hand-wringing over the time spent between points, etc., is getting awfully tired. Also, I think it's pretty darn pointless when it comes to the general public's interest in the sport. I really, REALLY doubt your average Joe or Joette ignores tennis because some players take too long between points. Or because some players "grunt." Or because the sport allows "lets." Or because the sport's failed to adopt lame, "no-ad" scoring. Yet commentators will continue to harp on these things over and over and over again on air because ... they enjoy hearing themselves talk? I wouldn't doubt that to be the case.

It really is too bad she (Cornet) didn't respond with something along the lines of, "No, that's OK. You go off first. I'll be along in a minute!"

I know how it unfolded but I like to imagine that when the gif ends Serena punches Cornet's face and the ballgirl running is escaping from Serena's fury. ;-;

Yeah she had every right to enjoy the moment and take it all in. Serena naturally wanted to gtho of there, but Cornet should have relished her time on the court after the biggest win of her career. And she should have declined Serena's "hurry up", but she's not used to these moments so she went along with it.

Really hoping Tsonga does not get rolled tomorrow by Djokovic, but I'm sure he will. Really looking forward to the Isner/Lopez match as well. Should be a good day of tennis

Lopez is so hot. Pls win so I can play out my homoerotic fantasies a while longer

Hoping Tsonga can beat Djokovic tod - ahahahahahah
