Windows 10 Support Dropping October 2025 (8.1 and 7 also)

Goddamn Ibiza, where in the GAF purgatory are you finding these half-year old threads instead of starting a new one.
I can't speak for him, but protip: type into google "$SEARCH_TERMS site:neogaf.com". Naturally replace $SEARCH_TERMS with whatever you're searching for. I often find that here (and elsewhere) Google is better than the built-in search functionality of the forum software.

My kids all have computers that don't "qualify" for 11. One should but it says it doesn't still.

Seems like a brutal push to force people in a number of ways.

I have a laptop with a GTX 1070 that works just fine, and I've already decided I will install Fedora KDE this summer. It can't be upgraded to Win11 and I'll certainly won't be buying a brand new laptop just for that, when the one I have works perfectly fine for my needs (and I only use it on rare occasions, when on extended trips and so on).

yes there is a catch. you will not get feature updates for win 11.
Depends if these are any necessary by games (most often they are not). But yeah, if games start asking for exclusive Win11 stuff....its basically over (and you upgrade to Win11 LTSC ;))

What's the catch? What am i going to miss from my regular Windows 10 setup? I want to play games and emulators.
Not sure, exactly, but I'm able to play Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, GTAIV on my 2018 ThinkPad T480 with an NVIDIA MX150 (runs great BTW) without issues. I think you just patch as you go if anything doesn't work?

This video might have more insight into your question:
