most programs should work without any issues.
the programs that didnt work were easy to fix with compatibility mode and run as admin and that was on an early build so might run fine now without those things.
win10 is a great upgrade the only thing i disliked is the microsoft account thing.

I'm using windows 7, I think its OEM version. Didn't get any offer.

I used the OEM version when I built my PC and got the notification early this morning/last night.

On the topic of clean installs, according to Paul Thurrott, when we upgrade there is product key saved to the Windows Store that ties the hardware to the license. So we may need to do an initial update to W10 so our hardware can register to Microsoft servers. Nevertheless, we still don't know if we are going to be able to use an ISO.

It's a simple ploy to accelerate adoption, that's all.

That, and it is probably needed for the accounting trick that Microsoft is using for the upgrade.

There's a script you can run which will verify your device meets all the prerequisites and then turn on the Get Windows 10 app.

bruh.. as long you got a decent amount ram you can upgrade to Windows 10.

check the minimum system requirements, many windows XP owners can even upgrade to windows 10 technically.

EDIT: use the 8.1 upgrade advisor.. it should be asking for very similar requirements as to what 10 is asking for.

or you could look for a cheap windows 7 key and upgrade from there.

EDIT: MercuryLS says that SP3 is Surface Pro.. and afaik they only sell SP3's with the pro version.. so you will probably be getting pro.

I don't think this thread is the right place to start a debugging session, so I'll direct you to Google: this carefully when and how the bugs manifest (what you are doing, and with what, how bug affects things etc), and google it.

Yes. It probably won't ask you again to enter email address as long as you are using same Microsoft account on each machine.

So I just picked up a SSD that I want to put my OS on. When we get our Win10 upgrade, is it going to be capable of doing a blank install, or is it only going to upgrade over 7/8/8.1? Not really a huge deal, just wondering if I should swap out the HD's now or later.

Are you kidding. New versions of windows always have the latest drivers for common devices. No need to install things such as motherboard drivers. It's all up-to-date.

I installed the technical build on an SSD.

I didn't expect this level of connectivity between my 8.1 HDD install and my SSD Win 10 install.

I run Steam on Win 10 and it completely recognizes my username and password and just logs me in.

Not sure this is the best way to do things with the RTM when it's available.

Decided to click reserve on the icon, W8 was so repulsive I stopped regularly checking up on what MS was doing, but looking at some vidoes W10 doesn't look so bad, I even want to try out the technical preview to see if I can use it just like 7 without a the OS getting in my way.
