I presume the installer will do some sort of Integrity check before it starts installing?
They dropped support for it at the start of the month.
Grrh, I still don't have that reserve icon, I've installed all the updates, tried doing the code thing. I have a genuine copy of Windows 8.1 Pro. I must be doing something wrong. I guess I'll try again tomorrow :/
wait a minute, is 10240 like the final RTM build or will something else be downloaded later today?

Just got here but does that mean if I have that windows bt folder means that windows 10 is already downloaded on my pc and I just have to wait till midnight to install?
That reminds me, what GPU do I get to make the best of DX12? I haven't kept up. I'm NOT into bleeding edge 4K or even 1440p. I want something that can handle 1080p. So my budget's around 150 dollars. I own a HD 7850 right now. I heard some confusing info on existing GPUs supporting DX12.
The build being downloaded is the same file which has been out for over a week, 10240.16384. The installer downloads additional patches (KB3074683) to get it up to 10240.16405 which is the latest build.
Some countries have already had the release now and there is nothing else.
I guess I'm ready too? just slightly smaller 5.94 GB for win 75.98 gb. I assume i'm done, just waiting for MS to pull dat trigger.
windows 7 fully up to date and the download isnt starting. i have it reserved too fackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
GUYS! QUICK UPDATE FOR THOSE DOING THE wuauclt.exe /updatenow:
It may not be the case for everyone, but my experience led me to believe Windows Update needs to automatically download and install updates for this to work. I had it set to not do so originally, which is why I couldn't get the Windows 10 update.
MAKE SURE YOUR UPDATE SETTINGS ALLOW WINDOWS TO DO ITS DUTY!
*ahem*
carry on folks. :3

I am 6.33 and I am going to assume I am done despite that failed state in Windows Update.

EDIT THE FINAL: Yup, I think we figured it out. If the following show up for you, i'm very very sure you will update tomorrow:
If you get a last installed update failed and listed as Upgrade to Home/Pro (credit /u/NateJagger)
If this requirement is met, you should be in the first wave of people able to get Windows 10 from the get go. Congrats.
If not, we will have to investigate further
That about covers up. Time to wake up tomorrow and see if I was anywhere near with all this speculation.
If you still haven't got the folder downloaded this might help http://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3exx29/preload_windows_10_if_you_dont_have_the_folder/ (worked on my HP Stream 7 that didn't have the folder till tonight)
So is that wuauclt.exe /updatenow trick just a preload or will we be able to install W10 when it's done?
It's upgrading now, the PC rebooted and now I have a big circle with % done. Will I be able to make an ISO from the files I have or will I need to wait for Microsoft to upload them? I want to clean install once it has finished upgrading.

Well, I guess it's happening for some people.
What kind of alert did you get before it started the final upgrade process?
Got the hidden folder now. That update command prompt trick and that windows update that I just installed probably both helped make it easier for the folder to appear.
