Wow.. This install is slowwww even on my ssd equip laptop.
Is it installing or downloading? The tool will re-download the whole thing first.

Really? So I'll have to format my PC, install Windows 7 and upgrade it again? Holy shit. I believe I read somewhere (Arstechnica, if not mistaken) that Microsoft would eventually let you upgrade your preview build using a valid Windows 7 license without having to install it. I guess it's just too soon, then. Damn.Upgrade from Windows 7 if you want a fully activated Windows 10 licence!
Possibly restart your computer? Reinstall the latest graphics driver?
If there's no Windows 10 driver available for a device, should I just download the Windows 8.1 driver?

Can I use the tool provided by Microsoft to upgrade to windows 10, or is it going to error out every time I try to enter in my Windows 7 key?
Do I need a Microsoft account for anything?
Updated main computer and install was activated. Reset the computer and now it's not activated (installed with default key).
Thanks Microsoft, very awesome.

Sounds like quite the ride... gonna hold off until you all figure out all the bullshit for me.

Not that I blame him, :lol

I've done that a few times today and it's still happening. I wouldn't even know where to begin finding drivers for my video card. It's a generic Intel HD that I can't seem to find much about, or where to find the drivers other than it says "Intel HD Graphics".
Is anyone else having slow, and sometimes unresponsive scrolling with Edge?
do apps just not have options? that app aint terrible but I wanna make the text smaller for example
Only if you want OneDrive support, which is fucking awesome BTW. I can log in to onedrive.com from any computer and access ANY file on my computer.
I spoke too soon. You can just check for updates on your Insider build and you should be updated to the latest.
However, if you want to upgrade your Windows 7 OS and remove it since it is no longer going to be supported in the future, you have to upgrade your Windows 7 OS in order to get a fully activated Windows 10 OS.
Hope this helps!
I did a double take and the text is roughly the same size as on the Twitter website, it's just the whitespace that's slightly bigger:
Top is the app, bottom is the website on Firefox:
Please read three pages back. I posted a link as did many others that explain the official Microsoft tool to download and install it whenever you want.
I did this, and nothing happened. It downloaded to 100% and literally nothing happened. My computer is still in Win 8.1.
Did it reboot and show the blue circle with the percentage? Wonder if it hit an error and rolled back.
Cortana and some apps like Xbox.

Microsoft really needs to optimize that usage of white space! So glaring especially when doing work at night!
Not a fan!
It didn't reboot.
So if I do a clean install it will only wipe my SSD and not my HDD, right...
Does anyone know about when PCs will start coming with Windows 10 preinstalled? I'm in the market for a new PC but I don't ever want to have to deal with windows 8 or having to reinstall 10 if I reformat

Can I just upgrade straight into Windows 10? Do I need to back up anything? I haven't gotten the update yet, so I will probably have to use the tool. :/
As long as you don't blow away your partitions on that disk you should be fine. I would, to be safe, unplug the other disks if you are worried.

Update went smooth and quick tonight.. so far really enjoying it overall. Slick and the xbox app is great.
I have not dug too deep into it but how do you stream from the X1 to PC?
The tool should give you the upgrade option right within windows 8. It sometimes doesn't allow everyone to upgrade but it sounds more hit than miss. It got my one rig to upgrade where my others were all ready and waiting.
I know what you're getting at, but this thread started almost 2 months ago.
Not much people are looking at the first page methinks, especially with the implicitly outdated thread title.
Yah, will just unplug it to be safe. Update is already downloading and stuff its on the making sure you're ready to install step, if I reboot will it pick up there?
You can't unfortunately, at least not officially. You can follow a guide like this, which is pretty simple, to do it if you want though.
Well my PC has the "you're qualified for Win10" app so I guess I should be fine, right?
