Sooo there's apparently no driver for my network card after i installed w10. How do i proceed?
How? I'm a total newbie.just get the windows 8/8.1 driver for your NIC

My icons are not at the correct size, right? They seem too small. It says they are at 100% at the display settings, but it doesn't seem right. idk

Yeah they are definitely smaller than they were on Win8, I am using Startisback and it makes them as big they used to be, the downside it's a pay for app.
They seem fine to me actually. The problem I have with the icons in Win10 is that they look lazily designed.
Holding Ctrl and moving the mouse wheel/scrolling the touchpad will change the size of the icons. One of those sizes is the Win8 icon size.My icons are not at the correct size, right? They seem too small. It says they are at 100% at the display settings, but it doesn't seem right. idk

Oh those. Yeah they got smaller - but hey more space for programs and windows.I was talking about specifically the taskbar icons, if he meant the desktop icons my mistake.
I upgraded Windows 8.1 to 10, then installed W8 on a VHD (same key my original W8 installation), and after a day, the VHD W8 is asking me for the key, which doesn't work anymore. I presume there's some kind of conflict here? What can I do about this?
As I understand it your key for 8.1 transferred to 10 when you upgraded. At least effectively...
So I would have to get a new key for 8...?
If you mean hard drive dies or you want to do a full reformat, you can install 10 without upgrading. Your system hardware configuration is tied with your Windows 10 key. All you would have to do is locate the proper version of install media for your 10 version license and install without entering a key. A key will be automatically activated once you're connected to the internet.I upgraded Windows 8.1 to 10, then installed W8 on a VHD (same key my original W8 installation), and after a day, the VHD W8 is asking me for the key, which doesn't work anymore. And just out of curiosity, let's say my PC dies. To get Windows 10 back, what would I do? Would I use my old Windows 8 key and go through the same process again? I'm not sure how this upgrade process works now that I think about it.

As for your original 8 key, I've got no idea what happens to it. I'm sure once the post upgrade growing pains of Windows 10 have subsided, there will never be a reason to need 8.
What if I use a totally new hardware configuration? Bite the bullet and buy a W10? Will my Windows 8 key start working again on a new system so I can use that in the interim?
I have on idea what's going on

That's a setting. Right click the task bar and go to properties.
eh yeah that's not much. I swear the Win10 taskbar is slightly shorter, but I haven't measured it or anything and again it's not much. Oh well.not really, the footprint is the same, the icon is just smaller for no damn reason.
edit: I guess you get 1 extra icon per 20. So pretty much not worth it for the ugly icons. I also hate how you can't differentiate between 1, 2, 3 or more open windows anymore. Design over function..

Thank you for the detailed error description, Windows Media Creation Tool.
That only gives you the option to make them even smaller.

I see the lines right there in your screenshot. Maybe it's your brightness/gamma settings.None of my browsers seem to be displaying any sort of lines (dividers?) on GAF

I think it might have to do with the white colors used because when I switch to the black theme, GAF looks like it normally does. I'm seeing the same thing happen at a few other sites.

I just attempted this and when I start the installation tool it says I need a product key. When I put in the Windows 8 key, it says they can't verify it, although it is verified and activated on the Windows 10 from the upgrade. There's an option to skip, do I just do that?1 - upgrade to Windows 10 and ensure Windows is activated
2 - download Windows 10 media creation tool and install it on a usb drive
3 - boot from usb drive and choose custom install.
4 - the next screen should show you a list of all of your drives. You can format the the HDD or do it later in disk manager
5 - on same screen, choose the SDD (unallocated space) and continue through install.
Edit - for 4, ignore formatting the HDD and proceed to 5. Formatting here will also add a reserved system partition that you will not need since it will not be a system drive. Just install on SDD and format the HDD in the OS using disk manager.
Has anyone noticed a change in their audio after updating to Windows 10? Everything on my laptop sounds very, very flat.
What do you reckon I should do? I'm very confused on this.Nope, might be your audio driver.
