Is there any way to get DTS connect to work? I can get stereo working over optical, but as soon as I go into the realtek software to enable DTS connect all my audio just routes through my PC speakers rather than the optical out even though it still says its outputting though the digital out.

Having my first Windows 10 problem. I can't get mail or the app store to open at all, it just hangs at the loading screen.

My USB 3.0 port stopped working after I installed Windows 10. It doesn't even acknowledge it when I click on This PC. Also, when I try to look at Google,Twitter and a few other sites through Firefox,It shows the Secure Connection Failed page. They all work fine if I use Edge.

I haven't upgraded yet, (still backing up stuff for clean install) but I have all the drivers needed except for my soundcard. Creative says windows 10 drivers wont be ready until September so im curious has anyone has had any problems using the existing win7/8 drivers with windows 10?

My card is a xfi titanium pro.

I'm going mad here. Fucking Explorer still crashes each time it's opened.

I tried Checkdisk on startup, I tried deleting all thumbnails with CCleaner, I even tried

Code:
sfc /scannow

in a admin command prompt. Funnily the only thing it says is that there were errors detected which can't be repaired. What? How do I proceed from there?

I just installed teamspeak 3. But it opens like 50 instances every time I want to boot the program. When I close one instance it immediately opens another. Can someone help me with this?

what I want? Win8's touch keyboard behavior back.

In W10, if I tap a text field anywhere with my stylus, it bring up the Handwriting input by default, and there'a no way to turn that off or change it.

since i'm an artist, i kinda use my stylus a lot.

According to the microsoft help site it can take up to three times to fix an issue with sfc /scannow restarting each time.

The only other thing you can do is the DISM command.

My WiFi on both my XPS 13 and Surface 3 has been a mess since the update. They both constantly disconnect and at times can't pick up any networks at all.

I'm starting to get fed up with this OS. It seems like 90% of it works but the 10% that doesn't is the obvious stuff that as a user I constantly interact with.

Thanks for the ideas on what I could do! Do you mean restart the command three times in a row or restart the computer between two attempts?

Hm, so I would probably do something like this?
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Alright, i'm back. And this time i'm on my laptop.

So, last night i said "fuck THIS i'm going back to W8!" and did just that. After i did i ran into the same problem as i had with W10; the network card driver weren't there, it was gone and i couldn't go online. So i said "fuck it! i'll just go to the store tomorrow and have them figure it out". So i'm sitting here, post-breakfast, booting up the PC to change my wallpaper (no it wasn't porn, anime or some shit like that) and whaddayaknow; IT WORKS! I've got the internet! I won!

Now, that everything seems to working correctly i go check what network card i have (the page was blank when i had W10 installed) and it's a Realtek RTL8723BE Wireless LAN. When i google it the first hit is a Lenovo support page (i've got a Lenovo Yoga 2 so that's perfect) and the drivers that are available only read Windows 8. What i gather from that is: i can't update to Windows 10 right now, 'cus that would equal no internet. Right?

My computer doesn't shut down properly when I use the shut down from the start menu. Mouse stays on and if I press any buttons on my keyboard the computer boots back on. Also, my wallpaper randomly changes back to one of the pre-installed ones.

A coworkers has his computer booting back on when it has been shut down, like in the middle of the night it decides to just start its self.

Can't say I'm surprised by all these bugs.

Hm, so I would probably do something like this?
Code:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

1. Run sfc /scannow when it completes restart.

2. Run sfc /scannow when it completes restart.

3. Run sfc /scannow when it completes restart.

If it still fails to fix the issue, do the DISM command.

1. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

2. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

3. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If this fails, then you need to make an iso using the download tool for windows 10 and mount it.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

(Substitute X with the drive letter to the one which your system has mounted the ISO to)

Is there a way to get better support? Going through the official support channels is a bit of a chore right now.

Has anyone had internet connection problems since installing W10? It's not all the time, but like, three or four times a day my connection either slows right down or just cuts out. Router is fine and all my other internet connected devices are fine too.

What do you reckon I should do? I'm very confused on this.
Right click the volume icon, Playback Settings, take note of your audio device name, double click on your audio device, dig though the settings pages, disable all enhancements/Dolby, and set your default output to 24 bit/44100Hz.

yeah I'm look at US Lenovo's support site for the Yoga 2 13 and it definitely has Realtek wifi drivers for Windows 10, along with a bunch of other Windows 10 drivers. Try again?

I have so far only had one problem and Im not sure how common it is or how to describe it. Sometimes, for some unknown reason, the start menu get's total black (same when I right click on Chrome and other icons in the taskbar). Like the store app, email app, all the apps are black/not showing, but not gone, I can see the white mark around the app when I hover my mouse on it, but I can't see the apps themself.

Very annoying.

Im gonna take a pic next time it's happening.

I thought the update corrected my daily shut down-restart problem, but it appears it hasn't.

I'm hoping it's a driver issue. I can't imagine that the constant hard shut-downs are doing any good for my computer.

So my dad's sound driver is acting up post install. It's a realtek chip onboard, worked fine under 8.1, but has ultra-low levels now after upgrading. Oddly, updating to a newer version found on the realtek site works, until a restart and it seems Windows 10 is rolling back the driver somehow and the levels go back to inaudible again.

So weird.

Hum I still have the old boot menu with options for Windows 10 or the technical preview. How do I go about getting rid of that?

It could be auto downloading the drivers. Try the hide update tool they released for Win10.

Search Device Manager. Look for your sound, video and game controllers. Click properties, and check the driver tab for details about the driver installed. Check if it up-to-date via the provider's website, if not, update.

Yup, "System" process on my SP3 is once again causing trouble. This happened on Insider builds and I'm really disappoiinted it carried over to RTM.

My "System" is currently using 800+ MB of RAM.

Is there anything that can be done, or is this something that will require a wait on Microsoft to push out an update?

I'm experiencing issues with mail and one note.

They'll open but are stuck on the initial loading screen.

They were working just fine before last night.

Did get the Cumulative Update for Windows 10 update? It fixed a lot of problems to me. Specifically the big System ram usage, and long black screen when booting.

My laptop still has the problem where the touchpad doesn't work after heading to sleep. Forcing me to reboot the computer for the touchpad to work. Other drivers are screwey like display, battery, sound etc... But this is the most problematic

Once again I can't recommend doing a clean install. Especially if you're a laptop user and windows 10 drivers aren't available for your system.

My laptop is still running really smooth though and windows 7-10 is a drastic boost in functionality.

The win8 drivers will usually work fine.

I still cannot get Windows 10 to work due to AMD driver issues. It gets to the screen wherein it installs the drivers presumably, says there's an error, and then boots into a black screen with no cursor for about 30 minutes, and then reinstalls Windows 7.

Mail app suddenly stopped working. It would come up on my screen when I click it but wont respond to anything as if its frozen.

I used msn reviver on windows 8.Couldn't stay without my much needed custom emoticons + skype sux! Then I upgraded to Win 10 -> MSN Reviver not working anymore. Back to stupid skype till I find any other decent msn clone,or they fix ir.Not those minimalistic wanna be-s.

Anybody find a fix for the Surface 3 (or other devices) not going to sleep since upgrade?

Or are we hoping for a patch?

Is It widespread?

Mine hasn't stopped working, but it's not finding any of my mail for any account. It'll sync when it's supposed to and when I tell it to, but it insists there's no mail. None of the options seem to help either. Anyone else had this?

I have an issue with the Start Menu. When I pin anything to start it doesn't show up unless I log out. So if I add an office 2013 icon I have to log out and back in to see it.

Ugh the only issue I have with Windows 10 is for some reason sometimes (and seems to always be after Windows Updates) Windows 10 takes fucking AGES to boot. It'll get to the Win 10 logo and spinning circle, it'll sit there for like 5 mins, then black screen for 5 mins, then get to Windows screen and that takes another 5 mins, then I login and to login takes another 5 mins, and then it tries to display my icons on my taskbar (which is totally empty upon boot) and that takes 5 minutes, and then it takes another 5-10 minutes for my PC not to be sluggish. When I manage to bring up task manager I can see the C: drive is 100% disk usage.

Thing is, it's not a hardware problem because Windows 7 is also a partition on this drive and I've done tests to see if there's any bad sectors - nothing, drive is in 100% perfect health. This issue is only in 10, if I boot to 7 it's perfect. Also after every update it seems to turn Windows Defender back on and I think it's doing some scans which is causing it which is weird since I've excluded all my drives from any scanning. The reason I think it's also this is if I unplug my external drives then the start up is much faster which leads me to believe that it's really scanning it. If I manage to bring up Resource Monitor in time I can see huge disk activity by svchost/system and it shows it looking at random files like the Unity Editor upon start up etc. This shit is driving me nuts and I've come across a few articles with similar issues but there's no solution or any response from Microsoft. Sigh.

Having lightroom cc crashing issues. Tried most of the fixes others mention on support forums but not go. Anyone else with problems?

I7 920 w/ amd r9 280.

Disabled gpu in lightroom as suggested

Computer completely hangs on library render after working for awhile

I messed up my Microsoft Account when I upgraded from Win 7 home... I foolishly just used the express settings and made a new one. However, I already had one that I wanted to use (from my Xbox Live account, it has my games, MS wallet, etc). How can I change it within Windows 10?

From what I can find I can click "Manage my Microsoft account" from the "Accounts" section of the settings app. Which I did. Then I tried to "add a new account alias". The problem is since that old email address is already having a MS account, it just fails and says that the email address is already in use.

I can sign in with my other account, and it will appear in the "Your account" window under "Other accounts you use" as a Microsoft account. However I cannot make it my primary account. I would like to just delete the new account and use only my older one from Xbox Live, however now I worry that the new account is tied to my Windows 10 key(s).

Is there any way to change the primary Microsoft account to a different Microsoft account once Windows 10 is set up?

Fuck, since updating nothing in my steam library works properly.
Either it crashes on boot or the mouse becomes ridiculously slow.

Settings - Account -all the way on the bottom- add Microsoft account?

Tried a few times to upgrade my Windows 8.1 Asus G50V, still got an error c1900101-30
017 (something about an error in the first boot phase) even with the suggested help from microsoft. While tempted to put the iso file on my flash, I have a feeling that's just not gonna work.

Not in a huge hurry to upgrade I mean shit even though my computer is 8 years old, it still works fine. Also this is giving me a headache and wasting bandwidth probably. <shrug>

If someone has a solution that's not clean stating your computer, I'm all ears but until then just gonna try updating every other month until it works or I just get a new laptop with 10 installed.

More urgent question, none of my games are working properly.

Everything that I launch no matter how intensive is running at sub 5 FPS. Rocket League, Arkham Asylum, Left 4 Dead, nothing works properly.
Reading online, someone recommended running as administrator and people responded well to it but it isn't working for me.

So I managed to resolve my issue by doing a brand new, fresh install of Windows 10. Colors looking fine (with no adjustment to monitor needed) and games are running silky smooth again.

On the downside, before I installed Windows 10 I reverted my machine back to Windows 8.1 but in the process some of my programs ended up breaking. I tried to reinstall but something broke in the process and now I'm running Windows 10 without a license and it wont accept my legit Windows 8.1 key because of the obvious reason that it's not Windows 8.1.

Foresight is not my best quality.

I have spent all day at the parents trying to figure out what is causing this error:

0xC1900101 - 0x20017 The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation.

Seems it is caused by one or all three of the most important components of the PC.

Something in the code of Windows 10?
Microcode update/issue with the G3258
Gigabyte still working on a BIOS update (Asrock have already issued a update it seems)

There is a complicated temporary workaround by disabling one of the cores in the BIOS/changing registry settings but think I'll leave that alone.

I did notice a failed update in Windows update (KB3064209) this I think is the Intel microcode update that is supposed to a/the cause of the problems. And it wasn't installed on my parents system.

So I tried a experiment and installed it and guess what...Windows 7 wouldn't boot up. A system repair fixed it though. It makes me wonder if this update is part of Windows 10 and causing the error?

I think I'll wait for a confirmed fix though.
