1. "You can't just walk into a store." -- The only time is when the store in closed. Not sure why Microsoft would let the large person say that line. That's a low key shaming/fat phobic according to the ESG logic.
2. "A lot of female basketball players are wearing men's and children's shoes." -- So the lady is pitching "her" company because she designs and makes women's basketball shoes. Windows has nothing to do with why women are wearing men's sized shoes.
3. Biggest feature one of them uses is the virtual desktop. As a scientist.....why aren't they using MONITORS which are far bigger instead of flipping back and forth with virtual desktops. Oh that's right, he's switching from scientist to gamer.

Commercials no longer sell products. They sell ideologies.

Its been that way for 20+ years in advertising. Marketers job's are to sell you a lifestyle, not a product.

The first 2 isn't even a "lifestyle." At least the last one attempts to showcase a lifestyle and how they use said product. But even that falls way short of selling any product. The only Microsoft commercial that actually sold you on a lifestyle was "Start me up." When computers were a new thing, Microsoft tried to shepherd people into clicking the Start button to do a bunch of stuff on the computer.

That's why slogans have been a thing. Gillette, The Best A Man Can Get. Skittles - Taste the rainbow. Nike - Just do it. Gatorade - Thirst quencher.

I find it amazing that MS is trying to promote W11 as if it's never been possible to sell clothes, shoes or whatever the twin guys were promoting.

Everyone knows a PC can do that.

But that's the kind of flexibility a PC/OS can give marketers to go off tangents to create buzz and interest.

On the other hand a company selling lawnmowers cant really do anything but make their ads be about mowing the lawn. It would be silly and obvious if Honda tried to promote their mowers as if it's a new discovery in life fat people and high school athletes can mow the lawn for the first time because Honda's new marketing showcases their 2022 models allow it.

You know that's coming, but not from a Japanese firm.

Some fucking idiot in the marketing department thought being overweight is healthy and should be encouraged...
That's not new in America though, like many topics the messaging has been flipped upside down. Everything that was true years ago is now racist/bigoted/evil if you still think that way.

Seems like a targeted advertisement to people who would buy a mac.

I mean yeah, the first one definitely seems into big macs.

The moment general public stops associating fats, gays, and trans with depression, the moment these companies drop them from their ads.

Makes me appreciate Apple and its sexy people more.
They're literally copying this from Apple.

wed to make fat jokes. I'm still fat myself.

I picked up on the theme of Snap Assist being mentioned across all these vids. Maybe I'm missing what that is... but you could snap in Win 10... and presumably lots of other OSes. The guys in the third vid are talking up virtual desktops... yeah pretty sure that's available everywhere and probably showed up as a native Windows thing kind of late. I deal with some Windows Server installs that have ghetto third party virtual desktops. But again the virtual desktops were definitely a thing in Win 10.

Back to Snap Assist. Literally what all these people want is another monitor. You don't have to do your fucking computer work on a laptop on your fucking coffee table or in a Starbucks ya fucking weirdos!
win+tab is in windows 10. Then to switch desktops you hit ctrl+win and either left or right arrow.

I know that you were probably on a hate boner when you made the thread, but lets not get stupid

'cause I'm pretty sure the marketing team wasnt coding Windows 11

After getting a release right, Microsoft always fucks up with the following release. So it was kinda expected.

Windows 12 will be a banger
I always have a hate boner. But mainly these are just hilarious cringey.

But that is a tired argument. Organisational effort goes into shit like this. And I think it often is indicative of an organisation as a whole.

Yes, of course the coders didn't have involvement in these ads. They were too busy fucking up Windows and being sanctimonious about it. Or at least middle management are responsible for that, and they have fingers in both pies.

Honestly, have you tried criticising Microsoft products to Microsoft? They are extremely condescending and just try to shut out the criticism. Occasionally they are forced to backtrack like with OneNote.

... wait, does this mean that the previous versions of Windows were discriminatory? I mean, I understand Vista hated puppies and rainbows, but the rest seemed pretty open to me?

Windows Apartheid Edition was bad but not as offensive as Windows Vista.

I actually didn't see an issue with any of these videos? Maybe the first one, but it gives an impression that being overweight is fine and not unhealthy, which is absolutely not true. The other two videos were fine.

11 is totally fine. What exactly did they fuck up?
I can’t point to a specific thing right now, I haven’t looked in a while, but the release thread had a number of stuff. That’s expected with any new OS, but I guess I remember there being many bad choices with the UI

That's a horrible thing to say. Losing weight is not that easy for everyone. Plus, there are meds that actually make you gain weight, so just assuming people are over weight because they eat a lot is just plain offensive

Well, I mean the other half of the equation beyond 'eating too much food' is 'not exercising'. So you're a little bit right but mostly wrong.

I would stand by the assertion that most of these are in fact fat due to a sedentary lifestyle, eating way too much, and eating the wrong things. I would also categorically reject the assertion that this thinking is 'offensive'.
