The reason I’m not upgrading (yet) is that can’t go back to older Nvidia drivers. I frequently switch back for some games that work better on older drivers (and VR which have stutter in newer drivers)

Upgraded both my machines. Extremely easy and fairly quick to upgrade. One of the first things I did though was remove Teams. Boy they put that front and center didn't they? Oh and if you want to see the new store, you have to open up the current store and do a mass update for all your apps. It's a lot more organized now.

The new store is basically just the store from the Xbox.

Hmm I remember seeing last week's release candidate and the comments agreed it could probably use a couple of months of polish, but here we are.

To those who upgraded / updated to Windows 11, did you have to agree to an end user license agreement or other agreement during the update / upgrade process?

At first I was going to jump in on day one but now I'll probably wait a month or so and see what people think.

Been running it a few days now. No issues! Quite happy with it overall but if I’m being picky wish we could disable the start menu search bar and the recent files list but it’s not a huge issue.

it doesn’t feel like a major upgrade it honestly could’ve just been Windows 10 21H2 but it is what it is and that’s apparently Windows 11 21H2 lol.
I don’t see the need to increase requirements and lock people out. Hopefully we don’t get Windows 12 until 2027 and that everyone who can run 11 will be good for another 6 or so years. I have a feeling MS are gonna do Windows 12 next year though and then Windows 13 in 2023. Basically copying macOS with annual updates.

Ask permission? Lol. MS will download it and force you to install it! /s

How come it is free?
”if something is free then you’re the product”

MS make money showing ads, collecting your data, and getting you to subscribe to stuff (office, Xbox)

So how do i avoid that?! I let other people do the lab rats for M this time.
My understanding Is you can just ignore the option to install it and only download Windows 10 updates. in your update section you’ll keep getting W10 updates but you need to click download Windows 11 if you want it. It won’t download itself unless you ask. I could be wrong or it could change.

Do they still require tpm? Also can I install it on my 6700k even though Microsoft says it’s not supported even though I can practically guarantee it’ll run fine.

Just made the jump to 11, that was super easy and painless.

Only issue was the installer forcing me to update drivers to some MSI garbage, but I just ended up uninstalling the application. A reboot, and a new run at the installation and it was done.

New UI looks really good. Snazzy animations, too.

yeah you still need TPM.

and there is a difference between running it and supporting it. i'm sure if you find a way to install it then that 6700K will be able to run it quite well. W11 could've easily been just another update to W10 so if your system can run W10 i don't see why it wouldn't be able to run W11. however, MS have chosen to only support W11 on certain hardware. that's their choice whether you agree with it or not. so if you do install it you might find that you won't get any updates and if anything goes wrong then you can't expect any help from MS.
