and Xbox One.
Well Xbox One can be a different view on the same store, but yeah, the lack of a single store is very very odd at this point.

Unified apps are coming (at least for Windows and Windows WP, don't know about Xbox). We know through some job postings, but it needs to happen soon. They are promoting this unified experience across different platforms, and that's great, but the fact that apps remain totally separate is frustrating.

Holy shit, I am visiting my Aunt and she bought a new Windows 8 laptop. Windows 8 is the biggest piece of shit I have ever used.
What the fuck were they thinking!? They seemed to try to fix problems that never even existed in the first place and in the process ruined everything that has always been good about Windows.

It's pretty good. Like it better than Windows 7. The desktop improvements are great.

So only Windows 8 owners will get access to the 8.1 preview? It's not public for everyone?

Well it's pretty much a service pack. You wouldn't be able to download a standalone service pack for windows 7 and use it on Windows XP

Correct. Windows 8 users will have a Windows Update that adds the 8.1 Preview to the Store and they can update from there.
It hasn't been confirmed by Microsoft yet.
I think it will be available to everyone as it is in Microsoft best interest to have every developer/vocal tech user to test the improvements made. Also most previous public Windows previews have been available to all.

Interesting. For me personally, that's the number one reason why I'll be watching Build. I do wonder how they're going to handle the app situation though. Are they going to ban YouTube/Netflix apps from the store, considering they're still putting their own versions of those apps behind the paywall? Unless they put the ability to download apps behind the paywall as well. But I can't see them doing that.
Either way I'm also interested to see if they'll be announcing a replacement for XNA. Don Mattrick did say they'll have something.
If done right, app store could be a saving grace for Xbone. IF, because I wouldn't be surprised if that would turned up to be a separate store with different apps than those available at Win8 store (meaning, there would be even less apps then there are in Win8 store), or that one would need Gold subscription to use those apps. Or both. After all, we're talking about company that was the last to release an Internet browser on their console (even though it is the only company out of three that actually develops their own web browser) and even then only Gold users were able to use it.

I've started using Xbox music as I like having it snapped to the side. However, as expected due to my experience with WP8, their metadata is terrible and half of my library barely resembles what it's supposed to look like.
I hope this new xbox music also appears for web/ios/android at the same time since they have been promising those versions since the first xbox music app. It really needs to be available everywhere to get people to use it. I still have xbox music because I bought the year subscription and it has yet to lapse but I have an android phone now (because sprint does not offer a windows phone) and music on my phone is probably my most used device. I would love if this redesigned app would also make its way to wp8/ios/android.
