The Windows Phone Insider app will be releasing 5 new ringtones a month it appears, there are two that aren't terrible this month. The app is kind of buggy and seems to randomly play a ringtone when you hit play or download. I haven't seem them float over to Zune since I synced but I imagine that's because an app installed them.

Everything that updates to Mango app levels is making me love this phone so much. It's making Windows Phone hit the sweet spot for me directly inbetween Android's customizability and iOSs simplicity without the drawbacks of either.

The first 20 seconds of this are my ringtone

If we are doing the game thing... Underrated Gem of a Game is....

Vizanti - Cool quick XNA Block puzzler. There is a free version with 10 stages or the full game is like $1.29. It has some nice sort of hand painted like art, and some cool chill music to go with. It was one of the big XNA titles of the past year that was also made for the XBL Indie Games Channel, and it made to the semi-finals of the Dream Build Play 2011 Challenge!

While the gameplay is solid don't expect anything amazing. The chill music, and the painted backgrounds really bring this title into a good cohesive unit. Plus it's just a regular game so you're only paying $1.29 verses the inflated XBLA price.

Ok guys, I need your opinion on the random reboots and stalls my LG Optimus 7 is experiencing.

First of all, a little background info: I bought the phone in February of this year. Went from release version, to pre-NoDo update, to NoDo, and to Mango Dev Beta using the official, dev sanctioned way. A month later I decided to downgrade back to Nodo using my backup and restore on Zune.

The first day I installed Mango, my phone decided to shut down unexpectedly. It rebooted successfully shortly thereafter and things seemed to keep on working ok. This happened twice on Mango.

When I downgraded to NoDo, I started to notice how my device decided sometimes to reboot (back to LG logo screen) and stay that way forever until a) sometimes rebooting the phone using the power button worked b) other times, I needed to remove the battery.

This has been happening a lot more frequently this past weekend. Today, at 10:06 am, it has happened twice (one after the alarm was disabled, another when I was browsing Facebook).

I'm starting to believe some kind of overheat is going on, although the phone is not noticeably hot in any way.

I do remember one time it was charging and I found it extremely hot and stalled on the LG screen.

Did the mango -> nodo downgrade do something to my phone? Can I completely reset my phone back to factory settings? Should I call LG and ask for a replacement (I think I have a 1 year warranty -- must check into that)?

IDK... you could get a replacement while you are still under warranty if you have one...

Honestly though I'd just wait and see if legit Mango releases in the next 2 weeks because that might fix things on it's own.

There hasn't been a week without mango since July, silly man.

But we're so close to the official release at this point that I'm just like "Meh, it will be easier to do it with Zune in a few days". But it hasn't been a few days...

So I am at my parent's at the moment but brought my laptop. I logged into their wlan with wp and my laptop to synch some stuff (I did that once before wirelessly in my own apartment) because I forgot to bring my usb cable. But the phone doesnt show up in zune, what am I doing wrong.

I can't bring my self to reverse mine back to NoDo. It's not one feature I need on Mango but it's bunch of little stuff. Did they actually say why you can't upgrade the phone from beta of Mango to the real Mango without having to restore your phone?

Oh and I love text to voice feature even if it's sometime trying to send odd message to my wife.

You could try doing complete reset and see what happen. You still have the back-up. I know when I put the original 16gb card into my Focus it was doing random reset so could be something wrong with memory. May be something went wrong with you install Mango. I know I haven't have any problem with my Focus. (Now you make me scare about reverting back to NoDo).

Is your phone charging? It has to be plugged in and charging before it starts wireless sync.

I'm a mac user but I have to use windows in my office (most hospital/patient programs aren't compatible with mac), so I finally upgraded the office computers from vista to Windows 7 yesterday and I must say it's quite nice. I'm not going to change my personal use from mac but I'm glad windows is much better now.

Yeah, and if you try Windows Phone 7, you'd like MS even more AND have a relevant post in this thread. :)

Get a replacement. I think it's an issue with first revision hardware and was fixed with a later mainboard revision. I get that reset problem (even though it's rare), including audio issues and issues with the clock when it happens (jumps 13 hours ahead, I think). I should send mine in as well, but two weeks without a capable smartphone? I don't know. Doesn't happen often enough. :lol Kinda sad to see how we're used to buggy hard- and software and just accept it (at least most of us do). But hey, I have WhatsApp, everything is cool now!

yes it is. in zune it says something like "connect your phone to use this feature" if I klick the option wireless sync. I did that the first time and it worked after that, but i thought thats it.

You have to be on the same wireless network to use wireless sync. Otherwise you have to configure it again in the software.

Phone rebooted again and showed the memory error message. Fails that the memory is internal and can't be changed. Rebooted again and it worked fine.

Will reset to factory defaults and see if that fixes things.

WhatsApp works great, push and live tile are working just fine. Can't wait til Kik and IM+ get a proper mango update.

You better call that LG hotline to get your phone picked up.

We already knew this. I think people are more interested in knowing if it'll hit NA in Q4 2011 which looks unlikely.
i am pretty sure itl drop near the end of September. apparently india is scheduled to get new mango phones near the end of September.

Mango is already "out". You can get it Japan, Taiwan and Russia. I think our Canadian charizard here is talking about the availability of Nokia's phones in the US and yeah, I don't think that will happen this year.

It will be out the day after I send my phone in to get a replacement.

LOL I know that feeling. Tuesday would be solidly in the "Fall' and the OS is already out. Plus Tuesday is commonly know as "patch" day. IDK just makes sense to me at least.

I am SERIOUSLY impressed with 7.5 it's like a whole new phone, they are saying it's rolling out from 23rd onwards.
Everything just works SO much better now. :)
Does anyone know what the latest OS version was? Got this one from a friend who repairs mobiles and they have had this for past 3-ish weeks, any repaired WP7 was getting 7.5 installed as standard and shipped back to customer.

It seems to be based around the speculation of this tweet from Belfiore: "PS - this website shows you the START of fall. Don't jump to conclusions!!". Take from that what you will.

Cool stuff, well I'm more than happy at that then. Where is the damn custom ringtone option grrrr, does zune need an update to enable this or am I missing something? Will have to make do with the new ones.

Sorry about the link, here was the story.

You need Zune 4.8 and then change the genre of your mp3 ringtone to "Ringtone".

Making your own tones

But we know many of you have a particular ringtone in mind—or sound files already on your PC that you’d like to turn into one. In Mango, we give you the flexibility to do this yourself—with some important caveats. To qualify as a ringtone, a sound file must be:
  • 39 seconds or shorter
  • smaller than 1 megabyte (MB)
  • saved in MP3 or WMA format
  • not copy-protected (i.e. DRM free)

This post isn’t intended to be a tutorial on creating custom ringtones (we’ll cover that in more detail once Mango is available), but I wanted to provide a flavor for how it will all work.

In short, custom ringtones can be installed using the Zune software on your PC. Once you’ve created an audio file that meets the ringtone requirements, find it in your Zune music collection, right-click the file, and change the Genre field to Ringtone. Then just sync the file to your phone like you would any music track.

5635.Zune_2D00_CustomRingtone_5F00_4E45DCCB.png

You'll be able to add custom ringtones to your phone using the Zune software on your PC.

Don’t worry: items marked Ringtone won’t show up in your phone’s music collection—so there’s no need to fear that during a workout you’ll suddenly hear your dog barking or other homemade ring. Instead, you’ll see them in Ringtones + Sounds in Settings, under a new Custom category we’ve created.

So any bets that we get Mango next week aka maybe Tuesday?

I just know its going to come out in the next 24 days, just so the universe can say "Fuck you" to me while I'm sitting there unable to update when everyone else is.

My wife's phone has NoDo. I ain't going back to that. I'm not using my NoDo backup unless I know that I'll IMMEDIATELY be able to upgrade to the final Mango release from my phone.

Edit: I like the new Insider app with the ringtones and all, but didn't they say that they'll have new ringtones available within a week or so? How does that make sense if people on nodo get a different version of the app without the ringtones? That's either a HUGE clue that they expect mango within the next week or so, or complete incompetence to offer these ringtones for developers and folks on the beta who have to revert and can't keep the ringtones.
