Windows Phone 7 |OT|

Yep, it was a two-stage update from the Beta 2. It installed the first update (a rollback I assume, though its not clear) and now I'm downloading the 2nd update. This one says Samsung update for Windows Phone, so it'll be the right one with the nice drivers and the Samsung-specific ability to disable the capacitive buttons during gaming etc.

After the HTC update some HTC apps work that didn't before (Connected Media etc) but there are no updates for the RTM after that. Think I'll roll back and update the legit way incase the RTM doesn't update to any newer versions in the future.

This is going to take ages!

which phone do you have and which build did you previously have and what is your location?

So, I have an Orange branded Samsung Omnia 7, with a La Poste Mobile SIM card, which is a "virtual operator" using SFR's network.

Should I look at Orange, SFR, or "All other operators" on that list. Because if it's SFR, fuck them, and fuck Samsung. (Fuck Samsung anyways).

ATT (Focus 1.3) here on version 7712... it is inviting me to upgrade to final "beta" version 7720... what's up with that ??

Edit: ahh.... scrolled up and was enlightened.

Anyone notice any little differences between this and the RTM we were all already using? I mean beyond visual voice and wifi hotspot.

I got a notification for an Udate!

Yes! Not an update, but an Udate! Woooo!

the hell?

I rolled back to NoDo, connected to Zune again and it found an update. I clicked okay without checking but I just realised the version number is 7403 and not 7720. Is that normal?

My phone is unbranded and hasn't been messed with at all (well, except smashing it of course!)

I'm impatient. AT&T Focus v1.3 and nothing yet.

Should've gone/stayed on the beta. :p

Seriously, though, its refreshing to see MS learn so much so quickly. They had a beta period (which was easy to get into so the early adopter whiners could get on it), then they found a way to get those folks the final version of Mango. This is how you keep the vocal minority, the first movers who influence other buyers, happy.

Can't wait for the Apollo beta.

Tango comes before Apollo. :P

WiFI hotspot on T-Mobile?! How? Post video please. Even if T-mobile doesn't get the iPhone I can finally dump AT&T. Has any AWS Mango handset been announced yet?

Phew, after that 7403 update it's gone straight to giving me Mango :*)

A quick Google check shows this was a pre beta update which is weird but oh well. It also lead me to a forum post which pointed to this, which people are apparently using to force the Mango update. Worth a try for anyone who isn't getting the prompt!

They didn't fix it because they said this was a design choice. No clue why since i liked the old way to.
A weird design choice.. the time of the fade-in is different every time even. It just feels sloppy.

going through the developer upgrade process from before?

I'm a registered developer..

I reverted to NoDo first.. using my backup.

ah yes... i forgot how i had done that been so long although not dev was unlocked

confirmed... restored to Nodo and no update message for Mango. bitches.

No other update after the firmware update. Got new firmware, radio software and bootloader. tap-to-focus wasn't added. You're lame, LG. Lame. That's exactly why I didn't want to date you.

Is there a video showing this? I'm curious.
have not found anything, but basically this is what happens.

You press the windows button and the lockscreen wallpaper with all the infos like time, messages, and so on shows up.
But since Mango Beta (and now also final), the info takes a few ms longer than the wallpaper to show up, like if there is some kind of lag. I doubt that it is intentional as the amount of delay is not always the same.

Engadget's review of Mango doesn't mention the need to tap the screen after every turn in the turn by turn direction in bing maps. Was this resolved?
