i think it looks ugly.

The silver one is surprisingly good looking in real life, I thought it hideous in photos but it's pretty nice in the flesh.

Not a stellar HTC design but not as bad as the pics make out.

So Spotify is now available in my country as of today, but the app does not support the Omnia 7. What the hell?

edit: forget it, Spotify seems not to be what I expected. I need a facebook account to sign up? Really?

Spotify is a social music streaming app, what did you expect..? The whole thing resides on playing your friends playlists and watching what they listen to, you discover a ton of music that way.

Spotify works without Facebook account just fine.

hey brotkasten when are you going to update the OP with the new generation of phones?
God, I'm so sorry for this. I really am. I was working on an updated OP, but I am buried in work right now and everything is kinda going to hell here.

If someone wants to help me out, I'd appreciate it.

I just don't see why a facebook account is needed for signing up on spotify. I have nothing against sharing and socializing, but a requirement is stupid in my opinion. Anway, Spotify I will never use.

Serisously. Don even worry about it. Untill the nokia phone comes to US or canada. Don't even bother.

psst, the nokia phone isnt even the best available right now (and you only care about Canada anyway ;). I only bugged brotkasten because I can't find any reviews of the Samsung Focus S. WTF? Hopefully Nokia delivers a phone with a frontfacing camera, wifi hotspot, led notifications/screen notifications and a pentaband radio (i.e. the Nokia N9 running WP7) instead of the Lumia LTE rumors going around. oh well, i'll help out with the OP during weekend, assuming no one else can step. A minimal list of new phones would be useful until brotkasten has more time.

List with phone hardware/features and carriers is done. I'd need a write-up on the new Bing features.

Bing features:

It does cool shit. You can scan bar codes and it searches for shit. Text gets translated using camera and it can tell you what music is playing. With the Omnia 7 you will accidentally press the bing button a lot, it has a nice picture daily. After a while it will stop being annoying and you learn to live with it. Kind of like the girlfriend we don't have and she speaks to you only during a cut scene of a game.

This works.

Rdio is social and doesn't require Facebook. Spotify didn't require Facebook before, either. Kinda a dumb move to force it imo. People just wanna stream music.

I am still so upset that MS does not let me use my points to buy things on the phone. I refuse to put a credit card back onto my account.

I assume there is no work around for this right?

Wow, what the fuck.

When I slide the phone up, the brown tint goes away! Goes back down, there it is.

Seems like it has something to do with the light sensor...

Bug MS windows phone employees to hell and back.

Well, I purchased another phone from blinq. I'd kinda be wary if anyone ever does business with them. The phone is in immaculate cosmetic condition, but the software is so fucked on my DVP. The colors are way off when the slider is down, and sometimes it has some graphic errors. It won't even update for some reason. It just keeps rebooting and rebooting until I take it off of the USB (Mac and PC). They had a "Like New" straight from Dell with an open box for $10 more, but they also discounted me $10 and gave me 2 day shipping as well as refunding my money once I send this one back (just waiting on my new one to get here).

They carry quite a few Windows phones on their site and eBay, so please be careful when buying from them. Save yourself the hassle and deal locally or just get it brand new.

that's more likely dell's fault not the seller. i had a problem with my dvp but bought it from a friend and wasnt expecting a refund, so id count that as a plus for blinq actually.

Was your screen problem the exact same? I'd love to just keep this one, but I'm sure they've already got it shipped out. They are pretty quick about response time, but they supposedly test all their units for faults. I'd say it's half Dell/half blinq. It's irresponsible to sell something in full working condition especially if you test it and it has these faults.

it's worth a shot. actually follow those steps in the link i quoted and when you get to the final screen try using the pulse count callibration: cover the proximity sensor and press the button. I'm not sure why your dvp isnt getting the updates, mine got them easily. perhaps you could use the mango forced update trick

Ok, I never knew about this until today and it happened totally on accident.

The History view for each of your contacts, where it shows all emails and text messages with that person. Never knew it was there. Very neat feature.

You can have them charge to your carrier which will show up on your bill. I have that feature turn off because I have 2 kids also on my wireless plan.

Pre-orders for the cyan Lumia 800 went up on Vodafone today, so my order is in. w00!

Delivery by the end of the month apparently.

Sadly not an option for me. Phone is through my company.

Not sure if anyone cares, but it looks like an official ICQ app is coming: http://wmpoweruser.com/official-icq-and-mail-ru-client-for-windows-phone-7-coming/

There's also a sighting in a promo video of what might be the new Nokia Ace/900. Looks nice IMO, especially like how little bezel there is and how the buttons aren't always visible. Nokia just made the video private, so it might be the real deal.

It's a nice looking phone but I think the square look to the 800 compliments the OS really nicely, I'll be disappointed if all that talk of 'this is the design language going forward' was just hot air. Signature devices need a signature look, not just a Nokia logo.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here but there's a rumor that Nokia will introduce the US lineup at CES (Jan 10-13). That Ace model is supposed to be there.

Edit: Yep, I'm blind, already covered.

bought the $100 annual zune pass and absolutely love it. highly recommended and much much better than spotify and other similar services.
