I have no faith in getting the pre-update. I just hope MS is right about the carriers only being able to block one update. I've always thought it was bs, carriers can do what they want, and so far I've been proven correct.
Well, how can I do the same on my Focus?brotkasten said:Unlocked != unbranded. My Optimus 7 was unlocked when I bought it, but I received the update when I flashed the unbranded rom.
Yeah. I wouldn't be surprised if some users don't get the update in March...VanMardigan said:That's one more update than some of us here, and you'll probably get the no-do update before some of us do as well.

Um .sorry guys, Ive (me, Mairi) messed up
*wince* *blush* *hang head to avoid all the rotten veg getting thrown at it* Really sorry guys, Ive messed up. The update it not coming tomorrow but will take another few days. I stupidly checked only the dev schedule to see when the next version would be ready - but forgot to look at the testing team. So, Im really sorry I announced it too soon, and itll actually take another few days of testing before we can get it in to the Marketplace.
I think you'll be disappointed. There won't be really good things as it's currently not possible to develop a "good" IM client.ochobit said:Dunno about you guys, but I'm expecting good things about this update. Bummer we have to wait, but I'm patient like a Jedi, so whatever.

I am no so happy how the OS compiles all the contact info from Gmail, Facebook, etc., and just lists without any sorting, which leads to duplicate names. Also, having a separate e-mail tile for service could be done with just with one "email" tile.
I also tried to download some podcasts using the phone, but it was telling me that I need to do so via computer...is this true?
Where can I download some lock-screen wallpapers, btw?
Robobandit said:Indeed..
At least I'm "sticking it" to at&t by using HSUPA on their network.. that makes me feel a little better.
My focus has far faster network speeds than the Atrix 4G I returned..
VanMardigan said:Do tell how you got that done, or pm me if you can't post how here.
Brettison said:I've always wondered. How can you tell if that actually you know worked for you getting the speed bump or not?
Also what's the reasoning it is not on by default?
Well, I'm certainly not expecting the next BBM, and I do know of the current lack of socket support, however live tile notifications (among other new features) is a lot better than what we have now.snap0212 said:I think you'll be disappointed. ochobit said:Microsoft needs to fix this. I want Whatsapp in this cellphone.
Its not that they don't allow it, its just that it hasn't been done... Yet. Most of the missing API aren't because Microsoft has some prohibitive rule or policy, like the rest of the OS, things just aren't done.user_nat said:Sigh. I want an app that can point me in the direction of a set of coordinates.
But of course, Microsoft doesn't allow access to the compass API, so none of the apps actually work very well.
I don't understand why they wouldn't allow something like this.

Aside from that, did anyone use the tweak to up the volume on Samsung phones via the diagnostic menu? I didn't change a value on it, but it seems the volume has increased a lot. Pretty weird.

VanMardigan said:So has anyone who didn't get the update the first time around gotten a notification since they resumed it?
Also, anybody on att who hasn't messed with their rom gotten the update yet?
I'm seeing absolutely no action on this, so I assume att just straight up blocked the pre update.
3rd party multitasking is coming toward the end of the year with the mango update. And i don't know of anything new for T-Mobile, they already have a few WP7 phones though.killertofu said:I've been out of the Windows 7 loop for a while now. When's multi tasking coming? And is there anything in the pipe for T-mobile soon?
Well if Rogers users are getting the update, it's just AT&T.Brettison said:Who says though? I'm as skeptical as anyone, but how can we know since AT&T is the only carrier for the focus? Maybe they just haven't gotten the fix totally done yet so MS isn't pushing it out to everyone in mass yet?
I've yet to actually hear the initial issue with the Samsung firmware has been fixed so I see no reason to jump on AT&T for this.
VanMardigan said:That's why in asking, there are LG quantum and surround phones too, so I'm asking if anybody with those phones (unmodified) has gotten the updates on att.
That means that the pre update was blocked and ms will likely push no do out instead. Maybe ms was right about only blocking one update. Either way, its good news for me if true, since I get back from my mini vacation on Sunday. I was worried the update would come while I was away and I'd have to wait.claviertekky said:Rumors mill says the Focus will be getting the Pre-Nodo and Nodo update on Monday (7th).

Windows Phone fans will need to wait for the v2 release of Windows Phone 7, code-named Mango, to get a major functional update. Mango will be finalized by the end of 2011, and while Microsoft recently promised to ship this release to customers by the end of the year as well, my sources tell me that schedule is a near impossibility. Mango will include Internet Explorer (IE) 9 with partial HTML 5 support, better multitasking functionality, and more, Microsoft says.
Mary-Jo Foley can't confirm this.venne said:I won't believe it until I hear anything official, but Thurrott is stating that the Mango update isn't coming this year.
Maybe Microsoft will have more information at MIX in a month.
http://www.zdnet.com/blog/microsoft/windows-phone-7-will-nodo-show-has-mango-gone-soft/8856Meanwhile, Windows Phone Secrets author Paul Thurrott has said that he hears it will be next-to-impossible for Microsoft to roll out its second major WP7 update this year. That release, codenamed Mango, includes IE 9 Mobile, among other new features.
Unlike Thurrott, I didnt write a book about Windows Phone 7. In fact, Im still using a loaner device, since there is no WP7 on Verizon. But I will say I am hearing that Microsoft recently promised its OEMs and carriers that they will get the Mango bits by early fall at the latest, enabling them to ship WP7 phones running Mango in time for holiday 2011. So unless Microsoft has gone back very recently and told those partners Just kidding! I still am betting well see WP7s running Mango in 2011.
http://wpcentral.com/ATT-focus-get-pre-nodo-and-nodo-mondayFile this under rumor but plausible: Raphael Rivera of ChevronWP7 and who seems to have an inside track with Microsoft (see the Arrive prediction), is claiming that the AT&T Focus should be getting both the pre-NoDo and NoDo update this Monday.
