My Live tiles are acting weird. Is it known that they are not too reliable? Zune does not update at all (it should, right?), email tiles are stuck with unread messages and so on.

It's unbelievable how quick everything happens on Mango. The animations between things are much snappier.
Even more snappier? I was already wowed by the OS switching from a 3GS.

The Zune tile updates depend on your artist information. If you have a background art in Zune while playing music, it will also show up on your home screen.

And yes, Mango feels faster than NoDo. First I thought it was some placebo effect I had because I couldn't use my phone for more than an hour :lol

Facebook chat isn't working, the Twitter integration isn't there yet and Mango got a lot more round buttons. Some UI changes are nice, some others are "ehhh ... Okay", but I couldn't find something that is worse than before.

Can someone from the US check to see if their Bing Vision can scan barcodes and/or the front of CDs and DVDs?

Works with a DVD Barcode (pretty well too) didn't pick up the front of the dvd cover tho.

It's not working for me :(

What does it say at the top of your Bing Vision screen? "Scan QR codes...."

I'm wondering if it's a regional thing.

EDIT: From looking at preview videos I can see that it actually mentions "bar codes" and "CD and DVDs" at the the top of the screen. I only have "Scan QR codes, Microsoft Tags and Text".

:(

have they fixed the colour depth problem?
I think they did, yes. I don't have a NoDo device around, but I don't see that much color banding like in the first report at WMPowerUser.

e: nvm, it's still 16 bit.

Yep I've decided I want to update... I hope my google-fu is up to scratch to sniff out the links because I've been looking and still can't find jack shit. :)

With the error reports for mango on the Samsung Focus and the fact that I don't want to pay so my phone is protected by MS, I'll hold off a bit. Apparently there's an update next month, I'll wait to see how that fares.

HTC Eternity - 1.5 GHz, 4.7 inch screen, Front Facing camera

Not bad, kind of huge though
Oh gawd, 1.5GHz is way too slow! :lol But 4.7 inch with a WVGA resolution is awful.

Who knows if it's real. I want the HTC Prime to be the successor of my LG Optimus 7. Just for the name.

are they still planning on fixing it? It looks like crap right now.

Will the mango update work with my chevron unlocked (instead of dev unlocked) Omnia 7?
It needs to be unlocked, doesn't matter how you did it. LG's manufacturer tool is so awesome, I can dev unlock my phone from the registry, without a jailbreak, using any OS version I like. :lol

That is, or at least was the plan yes. Silverlight 3 has issues with 32bit, Mango brings Silverlight 4, which fixes the problem.

.

Anything like that for Samsungs?

Along with all the big app updates (Facebook, 4th and Mayor), a lot of official apps were released in the past week: Best Buy, Gowalla, Amazon Fresh, Kik Messenger, NBC Nightly News, Fox News, MS Academic Search, American Airlines, Trove, MLB, Billboard, StubHub, White Pages, Dictionary.com, Eventful, Epicurious, and Allrecipes.com.

Also, were these posted? Pics taken with the N9, gorgeous: http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/06/29/nokia-n9-photo-gallery/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+NokiaConversations-Posts+%28Nokia+Conversations+-+Posts%29

I ain't doing anything on my focus, we didn't even get that SSL update so updating straight to mango seems risky.

The Focus hardware v1.2 gets updates without problems, it's the newer v1.4 revision that has problems with updates. Microsoft is working with Samsung on the problem and the update is scheduled for mid-July. Isn't it weird that only Samsung phones have those update problems?

4.7 inch screens? Is it meant to be a mirror or a phone? Why not make them 5 inches or 6

Facebook with push notifications. Nice, now my notifications are broken again. Anyone know if current beta of mango fixes push notification issues? I hate it how they get "stuck" and stop notifying about everything.

Hopefully I will be authorized today as dev and get my hands on mango, tho.

Super AMOLED is the only thing saving their ass.

@jagowar that's a good thing.

My co-worker owns the Samsung Infuze, which is 4.5" and it's not too big for me. I wouldn't mind 4.7", and 4" is my MINIMUM screen size. I watch video podcasts for lunch and use a lot of the video apps on the market, I want a big screen. My only concerns with that HTC are the low resolution for that screen size and I'm weary of HTC cameras. Plus the processor is not a huge leap.

I want to see either a Samsung SuperAMOLED Plus phone (hopefully 4.5" like the Infuze) or the Nokia if they make it this year to NA and AT&T. 4" screen, front facing camera, and the best supported processor are my main concerns. Camera is right up there as well.

It's not weird, it's actually a norm for Samsung phone. Wasn't it report somewhere that v1.4 of the Focus used different parts that were not "approve" and test by MS and thus all kind of problem with it.

Anyway, my next phone is not going to be Samsung. So I am hoping by next year we will have good selection of Nokia phone in the US.

Do none of your coworkers own a WP7 phone?

About 70% of them have a Focus, but they're not devs (on phone) and nobody within earshot has updated yet. Does the Beta have visual voicemail?

That's the best you'll see this second gen.

No.

Not for at&t, anyway.. t-mobile customers still have their own visual voicemail app and feature..

If the nokia had thier searay hardware with a 4.5 inch screen it would be my ultimate phone.... At this point I am pretty certain I am going nokia phones going forward (build quality, awesome cameras, better resale, the nature of their relationship with ms, etc). Hopefully we will see some larger screened nokia phones leak before the searay comes out so I know to hold off on that device.

cool. do i need anything else to get mango?

I forced Mango unto my phone. Will I eventually get in trouble for it?

It's booting now as I type.... Im excited. Any requests?

We So Excited edit: All of my texts, information, contacts, programs and everything are still present. This gives me faith that I will be able to upgrade through the betas (This is Beta 1 IIRC) without losing any info. Excite get!

So, what are the chances the Google will create a good WP7 Google+ app? Would the heavy Facebook integration in WP7 affect this decision at all?

EDIT: Dammit, early Mango adopters. I need you to lament how upgrading to Mango fucked up your phone or something...stop talking about how great it is.

is it possible to downgrade?

I don't Google has made any apps for WP7 yet. Microsoft does all the Facebook integration into the People Hub and they also own 5%(?) of Facebook so you can guess where their priorities are.

We are all going to have to downgrade to get the official mango release.... they have said in the documentation that we will need to downgrade to nodo to get the final release of mango.

So any mango adopters plan on losing your apps/settings that change between now and the official mango release.

I find it funny that on supported devices they list Windows Mobile. No love. :(

Yeah, maybe besiktas1 will screw his phone up AGAIN and that'll help fight the overwhelming temptation to install mango on my phone.
