But they hated my iPhone and now they hate my Windows Phone for no reason. *shrugs*
derFeef said:It's weird because pretty much every "must have Android" feature they mentioned is on WP7 and sometimes better. It sounds like it comes down to installing your custom whatever modified version of Android and installing apps freely you would normally pay for. I am not judging them, though. I am happy with my choice.
Yeah, I love it and hearing that Mango has even faster animations makes me excited. It is still a long wait though and I am really missing HTML5 the most.Robobandit said:Some folks just have different priorities.
I like Android.. but I love WP 7.
My favorite part about WP7 is the responsiveness and speed. Even though the hardware is old (equal to nexus one from jan. 2010), the OS makes it feel screaming fast.
I never think "man.. I wish I had a faster phone"
I can't find it and they didn't mention it in any presentation. The mobile HTML5 site of Bing doesn't work either (that's probably because the IE9 in mango b2 still sends the old IE7/NoDo UA string).thirty said:did Street View make it to Mango Bing?
xbulletholes said:i feel silly for even asking this but is there a way to backup your phone via zune or another piece of software? the 'mango for all' programme just seems to skip that part when i try to run it (backs up 0 or 1 file and takes seconds) and i just don't want to carry on the process without a backup.

really?

Does the html5 version of Bing have local scout, vision, audio, and speech to text?brotkasten said:But Bing is fine! Really!
On iOS and Android.

brotkasten said:You know what's funny/sad? By the time mango comes out, it's so old for us, we'll wonder when the next update comes out.
brotkasten said:e: Why are you even mentioning the HTML5 site? There's a Bing app for iOS and even an uber version for the iPad.
At least by that point there may be some hardware to drool over.
VanMardigan said:Because you mentioned it first?
brotkasten said:Yeah, I did, because I wasn't sure if the mobile site had StreetSide or not. When I mentioned the other platforms, I was referring to the apps, where StreetSide is available (at least on iOS).
VanMardigan said:Well excuse me, that switch you made between web and app certainly wasn't clear to me, so that's why I asked about the html5 site. In any case, it appears that Bing (with Mango) is still a better app on Windows Phone outside of the Maps. And I'm not downplaying that, since the Android turn-by-turn voice navigation and Google Maps is top notch. I haven't followed iOS' maps situation to see if they've improved that at all, last time I used it there was nothing special about it.
Brettison said:This might be dumb... BUT.... will the beta version of Mango get updated over time or is what we have what we get until the RTM hits?!??!
Brettison said:My zune software is updating? Hmmmm..
VanMardigan said:You have 4.8 already? Also, I remember you posting a page or two back about your lack of enthusiasm for the platform lately. Any specific reason for that?
Yes, you need the 4.8 beta.Brettison said:No I actually got an error updating, did a google search, and found a post that came up in this thread ironically.
Basically I took you nerds advice and updated to mango....
So wtf do I have to do to get the 4.8 beta or do I just click cancel and not bother with the update?
As for lack of enthusiasm the web browser was getting annoying, and I was personally having a lot of weird issues (like my phone wouldn't connect to my wifi and say I had an incorrect password and then suddenly it would start working again).
brotkasten said:IM+ got an update and supports now WLM. Good for people with NoDo, I guess.
Well, the app did cost $9.99 at launch and for that price it definitely wasn't good. It's $4.99 now, but I've heard or read somewhere, that a free, ad-supported version is coming out.Tomcat said:http://wmpoweruser.com/im-updated-to-version-1-1-now-supports-windows-live-messenger/
is this app so bad as the link implies?
It's still good for people who use less popular IM services like ICQ (which is still huge in russia, iirc) or AIM.jagowar said:I think that app will be pretty unsuccessful once mango hits.... mango will support 2 of the largest im services out there natively (and for free).... once skype comes on board they will have the biggest 3.

What else is coming in the full release that we don't have right now? Except for Twitter of course.Klocker said:Yea. As much as I love mango beta. The full release is allegedly quite a bit larger feature wise so while we will still be looking for our next fix, the full rounded version should satisfy beta users. ^_^

I'm already linked with FB.com and live.com and resynced all of my accounts... any ideas?

Typically, if you right click on an album in Zune and you don't see something like "more info about this album" then it doesn't know anything about it. You can either right click and do find album info or use an external program like Zune social tagger to link things upBrettison said:On a side note under the music player (this was both in NoDo and Mango)... you know how it would pull up all the info from zune about the artist and give you the little picture overlay and stuff?
Well that happens with a few of the cds I have on there. The rest don't get anything, and when I try and create a smart dj playlist my phone tells me that it doesn't know the artist. Can I get a W T F!

Don't forget multitasking in third party app/games. It's pretty cool that I recieve fbchat or msn messages, but not if I'm in the middle of PvZ and can't sabe my state to answer.brotkasten said:What else is coming in the full release that we don't have right now? Except for Twitter of course.
The biggest change imo won't be the OS itself, but the 3rd party apps. Proper multiplayer, instant messaging, background music playback, background downloads, in-app purchases, you name it.
One of us has to be lucky enough to end up in one of Microsoft's WP focus groups and then ask for this feature. :lolMeus Renaissance said:Screenshot feature please.
