Honestly this whole carrier branding for the firmware is a load of bullshit. Makes me miss the iOS firmware downloads. Quick and dirty. Wtf do they do anyway? Add their shitty apps and hijack the browsers search page and remove tethering? This should strictly be between the manufacturer and MS. Had this same BS with Android
Most carrier friendly OS™.

waiting for the new Samsung Focus S? a little bird told me it will be on att shelves October 2nd, this weekend. I didn't ask about the Titan or Focus Flash but they will more than likely be on the shelves as well.
Don't play with my feelings thirty!!!!!!!! If I drive to my local ATT store this weekend and its not there, there'll be hell to pay!!!!

I have no idea whats wrong with my phone. Went back to Nodo and I still can't send/recieve texts (strangely my wife was able to call me over her 2G network). Don't know if the the update to Mango caused this or it is just a coincidence? Funny that I just responded to a guy a few days ago saying I had no issues with my Focus :P.

Edit: Might do a hard reset :(

Agreed..

If it is there, it shall be mine.

I know the SGS II will be available then.. but if the Focus S is too.. man..

Forced it:

Its startling how much more fast everything is. WEEEEE!

Now that Mango is here, will it save the OS? Go to any mobile store and it is filled with Android, BlackBerry's and iPhone 4 posters and accessories; no Windows Phones. How does Microsoft turn it around and actually show this phone to the public? I haven't seen a single one in the wild. Heck, its incredibly difficult finding one in stores

Can't get it to force with Windows Phone Connector for Mac.

:(

When I first got my phone a few months ago, it didn't find the NoDo update when I used the Mac. Then I tried Zune on my PC and it found the update, strangely.

Reset didn't help. I have a warrenty at Best Buy and could do an exchange, but I would like to hold out until new phones arrive and mabe I could upgrade that way. Maybe in the mean time if that Quantam is still $75 at Wal-Mart I could buy that, unlock it and throw my sim card in there.

Wow, its so zippy. And the maps actually work here now. Don't understand why you have to tap the screen for each turn??

Change the search local in the settings to United States and you will get Local Scout as well, which is awesome.

Keep trying, it took me a couple shots before I got it. When you go to the update link, let it load for 1-2 seconds tops (I counted 1-1000, 2-1000) and then turn the net off. Wifi switch on my laptop was easy to do. Then don't try and reconnect to the net for 20-30 secs.
My internet is maybe too fast? Tells me I'm up to date 2 seconds after hitting update.
Have tried all sorts of ways of disconnecting prior to clicking update, at the same time, etc. Just not working.

Took me about 10 minutes of trying to force the mango down my phone's throat for it to finally take. Was especially tricky given that I had to negotiate with my laptop's touchpad to hastily disable the adapter.

Stay persistent and it will eventually give you an update notification.

If anything happens, it'll be gradual. I don't believe there'll be any big turn of the tide as their current marketing strategy is still pretty much similar as to how it was. Maybe it'll follow the trend of iOS and Android picking up steam only after a year in the market, maybe not. Tango will definitely be interesting as how far it can push down the cost of phones, and maybe the ubiquity of interfaces between Windows 8, Windows Phone and Xbox will turn some heads.

So, of course, the forced update didn't work. Told me it couldn't connect to the update server and then blue-screened my computer after about 5 tries. I don't think I'll be trying that again.

This 'update schedule' doesn't make any sense. How long would we have to wait if there were 30 million users instead of 5 million? Half a year?

My Focus didn't give me an update notice but it ran without forcing after I plugged it in. Previously used the Mango Beta. Pretty cool.

Ok, I've been using the RTM on my Verizon Trophy for the last few weeks and today I hook my phone up to Zune and lo and behold there is an HTC update. Now I have the official WP7.5 without even having to do any tricks or take my phone back to Nodo.

I can't speak for the rest of you, but my experiences with Windows Phone have been pure gold. I'm home.

Rogers needs to get on this too x.x Ugh I hope they're not $600 off contract.

Why does each iteration of the iPhone always get so much hype?

EDIT: The Mango install worked, thank god. I had heard some horror stories about bricking and freezing at the boot screen.

its absolutely nuts, my GF's coworker believes next weeks announcement will reveal an iPhone with a projected virtual keyboard? wtf. where do these people get this shit?

I was all set to do the force update and it found that I have updates available. Looks like I am one of the lucky ones.

I have started using Twitter a lot more recently so I am pretty pumped for the integration.

Forcing the update now (Focus AT&T).

This is nuts ... I just got back from picking up my new car. :D

New car and Mango on the same day? NOICE!!!

Contrary to the Engadget article, the Focus now has touch-to-focus in the camera.
Yeah, with the beta it only did center focusing, but the final mango version focuses on whatever you touch on the screen.

Yep, obviously the Samsung update part added that feature. It should be useful to me as the case I have on my Focus makes the camera button difficult to use accurately.

Mango is getting boring. Nothing has changed for me today, not even after the FW update. No tethering, no touch-to-focus.

Can we talk about Tango now?

I still want to see App Connect in action, where is it?

Nokia first, Tango second. Nokia World is next month :) Though, with all of the Microsoft speakers (and Nokia's rumored involvement in Tango), I wouldn't be surprised if we at least heard some Tango news (with an unveil at CES maybe?)

Just read the CNET review of Mango:
We didn't like how Mango kicks you from the Marketplace to either the app list or the Games Hub when you download an app. Microsoft did this to prove that your app just downloaded, but we were slammed by the downside when we went to install a series of apps on a fresh Mango phone and found ourselves constantly re-entering Marketplace after each app downloaded, just to pick through the menus again and again.

It's like they don't know the back button exists. You can't objectively review an OS if you're expecting it to work like an iPhone.
