Neither did Nokia!

I thought the slide method of going from the edge of the device is nifty... but there was no cue on the screen that you're supposed to do that, so it became unintuitive. Maybe the Metro UI would be more suited for it, but I can't really see having two similar slide methods, both in the same direction except one is just further extended out from the screen, is a good idea.

Fucking hell.

My parents are supposed to be coming to visit me on school today, and my Focus that's plugged into my laptop and charging starts to ring for the alarm I set for it, so I press dismiss, go away from it, and when I come back its dead. Now it says I have a depleted battery.

It's charging right now but its still on the SUPER LOW battery icon... I think I might have a faulty battery....
An apple laptop by any chance?

What are the odds the Searay will launch on any network that isn't AT&T? I'm pretty happy with Sprint, especially their pricing and my work offers a pretty good discount on Sprint as well.

Also, couple questions about WP..

Can you do group texts? (Texting more than one person the same thing. If so do the responses come back in the same text window or will each response create a new text?)

Can WP chat/texting work like Trillian or a similar program where all incoming messages, no matter what program, show up as texts? I'd rather not have to open a yahoo messenger app, a msn messenger app, use texts, etc. Be nice if all of that could be covered with the regular texting client.

How does WP multi-tasking work.. Can I be on the phone and then open an internet browser or an app at the same time? Can I listen to music and text or browse the web or read a book?

Thanks

Yes, requires MMS for the replies to be grouped.

Yes, FB chat and MSN are integrated in the Messaging hub, along with SMS/MMS; not sure for the others. Apps like Kik/Whatsapp however are not supported (as of now).

Yes.

Thanks

No problem :)

Try taking the battery out and put it back in. Then reboot and look at the battery indicator, and try and charge it.

I finally saw a Windows Phone 7 in the wild yesterday at Blizzcon. Very nice looking phone. Maybe not nice enough to make me switch but very interesting.

Achievement unlocked.

Why exactly wasn't it nice enough and what platform do you prefer?

Going to another AT&T today. I can see why Apple having their own stores is a big advantage. Hope it gets fixed. I wanna buy Puzzle Quest while it's on sale.

The Nokia 800 is the Windows Phone version of the N9. Capacitive front buttons, physical camera button, Qualcomm SoC, but same polycarbonate casing as the N9 and same screen technology and camera as well.

Now, see I *was* going to upgrade to a Nokia and give my girlfriend my old Omnia 7... but now I can't help but think buying her the pinkness above would make her a lot happier.

can't you ask Samsung to send a replacement. you should have a 1 yr warranty.

So Whats App will be 1.99 after the first one or two years (cannot remember). why is that? i dont remember such fee from iphone
From Wiki:
WhatsApp is a temporarily free application in iOS. In other platforms, the app is free for BlackBerry, but Android and Nokia users must pay yearly after the first year.

Nokia should do all it can to get it on T-Mobile. No iphone presents a perfect opportunity to wedge into the marketplace.

I'd be beyond happy with Tmobile. It's even cheaper than sprint, especially with sprint tacking on an extra 10 bucks to every "premium" phone now a days.

I'm going gonzo here trying to figure out what could cause my battery life to fluctuate so badly. I'm talking dropping 10% in 30 mins with the screen off and nothing running in the background. Every possibly battery saving option is set. Just and example. At 63% I started to listen to "tunein radio" for 40 mins. When I was done my battery was at 42%, I reboot my phone 30 mins later, 32%.

I'm using an htc surround so I know it has a small battery, but my standby battery life is pure crap. I'm starting to think I have a junk battery, it can't be this bad with everything fine.

Anyone know anything about the Dell Venue Pro? I was going to get a Samsung Vibrant for T-Mobile, but I want to see if the DVP is better before I take the plunge.

DVP Master here. I love the phone except for a few flaws, But vibrant vs dvp is an android vs wp7 discussion. I personally I hate android, but that's just my opinion.

How's the battery life? The platform is somewhat irrelevant to me. I just need to be able to go through a day of moderate-heavy usage.

The battery is okay unless you set it to battery saver mode.

When I had a surround a year ago the battery was legit terrible.

I remember it being dead by 5pm with moderate use.

How many apps do you have enabled with push notifications and live tiles?

My story is far more funny.

Everyone I know has a Mozart almost.

Brother - got one when they came out to upgrade his phone (later became his business one and he got another one to be a private phone).
Me - got one when they came out
People from down the road got one each and I set them up for them.

:/

Is there anywhere I could get a cheap Windows Phone for under $200 without a contract? I'm interested in trying it out, but not willing to renew my contract to get one. Are they usable without any sort of carrier activation (Can I just turn on WiFi and use that?)

you can get one under $200 easily on ebay. htc arrive and htc hd7 are particularly cheap ones

Should be able to grab an unlocked Samsung Focus for that price or less.

I'm so pumped for Tuesday. We know the Nokia hardware will be amazing but it's the additions they will bring to the OS that really interest me. One of the leaks said WP7.5+ I wonder if that's even true.

By ok you mean a 12hr day easily? I can get a 32gb venue pro for $230. I'm still trying to see if I should get it.
Yeah, I get about 14-15, on my really busy days I get about 10 hours.

¿What's wrong with battery saver mode?
Are there larger capacity third party batteries for the DVP?

Nothing is wrong with it, it makes it better. There is a 2600mah battery on ebay but it makes the phone much more bulky. But it does come with a kickstand backcover.

The best way to keep the DVP battery life optimal is to follow these rules:

1. Set theme to dark (amoled screen)
2. Turn off Feedback
3. Set brightness to low (still really bright)
4. Check box for battery saver mode when battery is low(gives me 2-3 extra hours[tested])
5. Screen time out 30 seconds or 1 minute
6. Turn of show artists on the lock screen
7. Make sure the Dell updated firmware is installed
8. The wifi antenna sucks battery so make sure you turn it off when your done
9. Don't charge it until you see the battery saver indicator(a heart over the battery icon.)

new thread for new news

this thread is already too big. It probably should've been split when Mango launched.
Op said he would make one as soon as we see the new hardware.

Edit.

Sorry for the dp. I am on a mobile phone.

Not sure if its the phone or my carrier, but sometimes people complain their calls go straight to voicemail. I don't get their calls at all, only their voicemail. Anyone had similar problems?

Friend of mine works for AT&T and when I asked him if he knew anything about the release of the HTC Titan or their other phones in the new line, he said he never even heard of it.

I'd really like to at least get a release so that I know how long I have to wait.

I have been using Launcher 7 and Uber Music on my Android phone for a couple days.I really like it. Being able to easily glance at things really does make use easier. It must be a lot better when the livetiles actually work well.
