I agree. It's all about software optimization, really. That's the benefit of having a design mandate of sleek on the outside, Microsoft inside.
I doubt we will see an updated zune pc software anytime soon.... they seem to be part of the xbox team now and they did just release a new version for the xbox.
I think any software development happening is for windows 8 at this point.... I think its very likely we never see another standalone zune software version. Its being integrated into the xbox app in windows 8. Hopefully as part of this they will put out xbox apps for android and ios with the streaming support to match all of this.
(notice how the app matches the xbox beta dashboard with the video and music sections and that is a good thing imo)
I can't remember the last time I needed to use Windows Media Player for anything.

Wonder if he would even know? I mean, the guy I talked to at the store hadn't even heard about the deals yet. And as far as I know the one cent thing is supposed to be online only, so they probably won't be able to match it in-store regardless (even though the guy I talked to said they should, but he didn't know about the deal so...).
And if it isn't part of the deal, that's pretty poor wording on AT&Ts part to say "All" of them when it's more like select WP7 phones.

They also haven't gotten any in stock at their store yet, which is astonishing.

There's amazon deal right now for 1 cents phone at Amazon wireless. The deal include the Focus S. The catch is however it's only for new customers. I have a feeling the Black Friday deal will be the same. Limit to just new customers.

Just ordered a Lumia 800. First phone that's really captured my attention in the last 3 years. Hope I don't regret swapping from old faithful!

That's why I am hoping windows phone becomes a big player in the phone market. We need to put more attention on optimized code. Hardware is great but proper coding is key IMO.

Went into AT&T today, played with the Titan for a bit, really really liked it. The salesmen said that he could match the penny deal in the store, but only on Saturday, gave me his card and I'll be going back Saturday morning to get myself a Titan for a penny.

I'll let you in on a secret. I am not a fan of The show.
We just unboxed my girlfriend's HTC Trophy. I'm digging it, for sure. A question, though. How do I know that she's running Mango? How do I download it if she isn't? I'm not sure if new Trophy's come pre-installed with Mangothe or not.
Another thing, I recommended it for her for ease of use. Any recommendations turning on or off certain settings or tiles to make it flow better? Can I make tiles smaller or larger? Some of the more useful apps? Some of the neater ones?

I don't know the exact version number, but what I did was go to the messaging tile. If you see a body with a dot on the bottom next to the + symbol, you have Mango. You will also see THREADS and ONLINE at the top.
It should also prompt you for an update as soon as you turn it on (or relatively soon after). My HD7 did.
If you have a pc and the free zune software plug it in and it will tell you if you are using the newest software.

Settings then look for something like system information. Then look at software verion. If it's 7.5+ then it's mango

Yea you'd think I'd like vic. or Carly cuz I also like mlp. But nope. Besides mlp, I am not into kids shows anymore. I am however a fan of the gaf comunity. That's why you'll see me in threads of things I don't like.

It doesn't feel heavy in the hand, but it does feel very sturdy in the hand with a bit of weight and great build quality. I like that, but if your looking for a phone that is extremely light, the Focus S is definitely significantly lighter. It fit comfortably in my hand and I was able to do everything with one hand, but for people with very small hands, it might feel too large. It is pretty thin as well, which helps it not feel too large, and it also did not feel large in my pocket at all, which I was a bit surprised by.

If there are some new features added that can generate revenue for MS or their partners, or adds functionality that improves the Windows ecosystem ... you can be sure they'll update Zune.
They certainly don't assume everyone is going to drop Windows 7 and move to 8 on day 1. Hell, I'm sure there are plenty of Zune users running on XP.

Alright, thanks. I'm gonna see if I can work out the same deal because two new Titans for two cents, plus $50 in marketplace credit would be an incredible way to go about things.
Titan is available. Put it in checkout and it showed up as a penny. It is back ordered though. Gonna go to a store before I make my final decision on it.

I keep hearing up and down things about the Samsung Focus S screen. Some say it's the best, colors pop, vibrant, etc. Others say it's dim, dimmer than the standard Focus.
Is this just because some people don't know about the dimness setting/feature on the S, or is it just a dim screen?
