Another insider update, another feature removed! Apps Corner is no longer available due to decreased usage.

Wonder when we'll get "Windows 10 Mobile is no longer available due to decreased usage" in the updates.

I got my 950XL last night ans man I missed this OS. I got everything moved over easily enough.

Im having one issue where occasionally ill select a text from the notification bar and it will go to the messaging app and just saying resuming... Until I close it out.

Also, how do I add things to a folder?

RIP 1520. I feel sad leaving it while my 950 XL restores the back up, but the shutdowns and screen problems were too much.

Grab a tile and hold it over another, it will then try to create a folder.

You miss it for a little bit until you start using basic apps like maps, music, and such and realize how behind they are compared to iOS/Android.

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
What's wrong with maps and music?

No Traffic info in map is huge negative in 2017. And there are lot of small things here and there that I don't remember now but were annoying as well.

Music app is pretty good though, I will give you that. It was nicely syncing my OneDrive music folder as well. But I mostly use Spotify

What traffic info are you referring to?

But there is traffic info.

wut? I have never seen traffic info on my map. I am talking about when you actually driving.
Not some separate section where you can monitor the traffic.

Google map changes route in real time depending on the traffic and its SHOCKINGLY accurate.

Almost depressingly accurate, tbh. I keep looking at it and going "man, I can beat that, it's back country roads and highways" but somehow it figured out that I'd get stuck behind a semi for 15 miles and then have to wait through an entire train, I guess.

Yeah Google Maps is incredible. Don't think I've even arrived more than a few minutes off from it's guess.

I have beaten it once by 13 minutes, but that was a 180 mile drive where I got crazy lucky with accidents getting cleared like 3 minutes before I was supposed to hit traffic.

Windows Maps on mobile has issues with slow start up. It finds GPS just fine but directions data seem to be slow for the first few minutes.

I think it's a separate option to show. It shows green, yellow and red lines.

Regarding google, they bought waze pretty much for that realtime info, though sometimes I use both google maps and the win phone app and they usually give me the same route, which always happens to be the fastet one out of traffic.

Yes while driving.

I use Waze, but from my experience the maps traffic info is no less accurate than Google maps.

I turned off my GPS (as the Maps is a very shit app) and my battery life is amazing. I charged my phone maybe 35 horus ago, I am on 51%. I didnt use it much, but it would drop usually drop 25-30% overnight if I would forget to charge it... I woke up today and it had 71%, went to sleep around 80%. Much better battery life and nothing lost in the meantime.

And as we are talking about maps, I have to say that Google Maps is so much better than Maps, but there is one bus line near my house that Google Maps says takes 8-10 minutes (depending on the time of the day) to go from here to its final destination. Problem is: there are 14 stations in this trip, and the real time is somewhere between 20-30 minutes. And 90% of the time when I need to go somewhere google suggests me to take this bus -.-

it Even says its faster than the TRAIN (2 stops)... while the bus ride has at least 10 stops and red lights on the way.

Determined it isn't the SD card causing problems. After my phone gets below 50% battery the will reset then eventually get a battery drain and shut off. So something in the software or the battery is done. I imagine finding a genuine battery would be tough.

So my audible app stops playing sound as soon as I turn off the screen. It will come back if I turn the screen back on. How do I get it to play with the screen off? I don't see any option so is this a bug?

I also can't make it play in the background. Going to the main screen or any other app also stops it

The latest insider seems like a real battery drainer. Trying the location service trick from above.

edit: I am also having the background problem, with most of the apps...
Podcast, spotify. this is crappy.

edit2: reinstall did nothing sadly.

Background tasks seems a hit and miss on the last two builds for me, it comes and goes as pleased, even for messages.

Quite annoying, but perhaps it's related to high drain usage (Ms did say they were changing some thing to improve battery life, perhaps right now they are broken and doing the opposite effect)

The back light not turning on at times might be the thing to do me in. I told myself I'd go down with the ship but it seems they're throwing me off of it with this bug.

I'm kinda stuck at the moment not being able to afford a new phone and the current bugs and resetting is pretty frustrating. I should bug my wife to get a new one so I can try her iPhone.

Been on Windows Phone / Mobile since WP7, but I'm on Verizon, and my Icon is showing its age. Don't want to go the iOS route, what's the best Android phone to minimize Google and maximize MS stuff? Is Microsoft's launcher any good? Been on Windows for so long, I feel out of my depth.

I have a android. Moto g and It's basically a Windows phone. Arrow Launcher is awesome and I have One Drive, Outlook, and whatever MS product they have. The only google app I use is Chrome. Works out very well.

I'm absolutely shocked at how awesome my Honor 8 is. Added Nova launcher and very pleased at being able to hide most of the Huawei apps and customizing the look and feel. I still miss my live tiles but I can live without since this phone has a proper old school LED indicator ala Blackberry. Every app is also snappy as fuk on this phone. I also like how aggressive it is with memory management which I can see how some would be turned off by.

Latest release preview has broken my mobile data - won't seem to get internet ever...(950)...anyone else have this issue?

working fine here on release preview, have been getting tons of random reboots since a few releases ago though.

Here's the thing with Windows Mobile right now, I'm not sure the releases really put all phones perfectly in sync, considering people on the same phones, on the same builds get so vastly different bugs (and the userbase isn't large enough really to say that there are so many people that so many different bugs are bound to show up for different people).

So here's an idea, depending on when we started to get preview builds, when we went into release preview, or fast or slow ring, we get different bugs, cause the upgrade paths aren't perfect. Coming from say, one official build, to insider fast ring, might cause issues that someone going from any other build, to the same fast ring build might not ever get. And those issues might stay with you until you do a full reset? Does that sound plausible?
Would require some pretty poor testing and source code management on Microsofts part for Mobile, but I wouldn't be too surprised.

Hey GAF

I've really wanted to get into the windows phone crowd. I don't use a ton of apps all my 2FA is via text and I really love the design of windows phones. With the lumia 950 using windows 10 how is the support on the device and how do you overall like it?

I've absolutely loved my surface pro and would love to have a windows phone to match with the ecosystem.

I would be getting the XL version btw but my questions goes in general to all 950 owners

I love my 950, and it's still getting updates and features. It's been my favorite phone, and was a much larger step up over the 930 than I expected it to be.

Be prepared though; after a month, every iOS or Android device will look very ugly to you, and you'll never want to leave.

I switched from WP to android over 2 years ago. 2 weeks ago I switched back and went to the 950 XL. I love it. It's a lot of phone for the $250 I paid and the best thing is the layout and simplicity. There are a few small features I don't have but overall I am happier here. I use only a couple of apps and all are on WP so I'm good on that side too
