The bans are lifted now...a day early. I think the points were made, but just in case:

1) Don't ask for PMs in a thread. This rule has been around for a while, will be codified in the next TOS revision (coming soon!), and is enforced by pretty much every mod when he/she sees it. (In fact, another mod was about to pull the trigger on this thread...but saw that I had beaten him by about two minutes.) You could, like, you know, send a PM directly to the person with the info you want.

2) Don't call for another user to be banned. If someone makes a statement which is offensive or trollish, call them out for it. The mods will take note and issue a ban if it's warranted, but we don't need help in making that decision.

3) If you have a problem with the moderation of this board, send a PM to the mod in question and discuss things, or send an email to staff@ga-forum.com with a complaint. Reading about our power-tripping, egomaniacal, vengeful selves in threads gets really irritating.

I'm really tempted to make a comment about the whole(i.e. huge rant)... but I'm not going to... let's just say I'm disappointed.

I don't expect mods to know the posting history of every user... but I do think that certain mods DO know the posting history of long time posters.. and as such would be able to say hey you know... that's against the TOS(even though this wasn't in the TOS at the time, and I honestly knew nothing about it).

But I suppose it's easier just to pull the ban trigger.... and now some mods whom I thought were friends? Let's just say I don't trust any of them now.

For what it's worth, I didn't enjoy banning you. However, if I'm going to enforce anything, I have to apply the rule fairly.

did you ban them? I think only the mods who banned whoever can make the call and unban the people they banned.

And if you did, was it because of the PM issue or was it because you had a problem with the whole female degradation issue, which clearly isn't the case here. I do think you seem to be rather sexist in your moderation.

but you know, why should anyone be above the rules, despite their history? doesnt make sense.
and you (not you specifically, but in general) might not notice, but the old timers do get away with quite a bit...which is the fact i realized later on. we get away with lots of shit juniors and intermediate members wouldnt.

I favor a more discreet manner of finger pointing, namely because I'm not a fan of making a public spectacle of dumb shit. I could swear I've seen it around here in the past, and I know a few other forums I visit which run the same BBS software have it.

I'd suggest GAF leaders just educate users about this function and leave it at that.

We don't need threads bumped just for finger pointing.
